Welcome to the start of a long Grand Line of coke.
Glad to see a fellow Bleach fan finally start to catch up! Yes the anime is closer to the manga, it has ups and downs in quality and pacing but it's a good compromise between the original and the live action. I'd say don't try to rush it just because somebody says "oh the next arc is so much better", do it on your own pace. One piece is (more than any other shows) about the journey, the people we meet along the way and their dreams. Enjoy!

i have news for you. that warm sweater isn't going to go away. you're gonna look closer at it and realize, "oh shit, this sweater has layers" ...and each thread between each layer somehow connects to every other thread, then you look down and realize you got 1100 sweaters on and every other story looks like a string bikini 😅
I watched the first 26ish episodes and dropped it for a few months but a few of my co workers convinced me to start watching again now in a litter over a month after picking it back up in at episode 306 and really enjoy the show

Def better to go by arc, might be worth doing an end of saga review.
The first few arcs are pretty short in terms of episode but they have a lot of character and content.
I’ve seen a ton of great shows, read a ton of great stories and One Piece is my favorite of all time. I could be a bit biased because of the time in my life I read it but it really is just special and now I’m here to enjoy your journey, can’t wait for more!

I would recommend skipping the parts of the episodes where there are heavy flashbacks and recaps (unless you need it). Also maybe watch the shows in 1.25x speed wheb you reach the mid 500s or sooner. Enjoy the journey

Hey as a fellow one piece fan I've been watching it for 7 or 8 years and I'm just gonna say that if you ever feel like quitting watching one piece, its okay... its okay to take breaks once in a while, when I first started watching one piece I got to a few hundred episodes and took a break for like 6 months and then I watched another few hundred episodes and took a 2 year break, just know if you ever feel like quitting one piece, ITS OKAY!

I really enjoy seeing other's enjoy the show, and see their perspectives. I get the same feeling of nostalgia from One Piece and I really love the comedy and emotional stuff. New subscriber here, looking forward to the journey 😅
Nami's Arc is good, Chopper, Alabasta, and Skypeia are good as well but they are good in a childish way, in other words kids love those arcs because they are fun, the best arc is Water 7, that's where young adults get hooked with it
Great to see! I'd personally be interested in a Live Action / Anime comparison as someone exposed to LA first. That being said, very smart approach- by arc is generally what's recommended if you want to do blocks of reviews and definitely makes sense.
I'd also add two small non spoiler heads ups that I think make the experience better :
1.i highly recommend going into the series with the frame of mind of a Wheel of Time /Lord of The Rings. That is to say, it's not just long, but the more attention you pay to details the more rewarding things will lbe. Stuff from hundreds of chapters / episodes ago WILL become relevant in ways most people can't predict. You don't need to be an encyclopedia but a lot of people end up realizing later on how much they missed by ignoring stuff early on.
2. One Piece is an amazing story and I'm guessing since you've cried already you might have hit certain parts but it's also surprisingly mature and nuanced. Character interaction and dialogue and even narrative stuff can be surprisingly layered - if you can earnestly engage with the emotional weight and humanity it presents early, you might have a legit EXPERIENCE as it develops. A lot of people talk about their 2nd read through/ watch through and it's because you end up with deeper consideration for the story and engaging with it more earnestly and its legit affecting.
It sounds funny from the outside looking in, especially cause OP never loses its comedy or flair and it's such a great time, but the reason people go so hard is because it will give you back just as much as you put into it and that's basically true from damn near the beginning
This is cool. Definitely want to hear ur updates. U should do arcs, but also some if the early ones are quite short. But starting the Baratie arc the story gets denser, so better do them by arcs from there
