  • Arguably my favorite part and favorite song out of all of this musical!
    Feels so strong and powerful, that Thunderchild is what one calls a true hero. Outnumbered, outgunned, and outmatched, the crew of Thunderchild knew they would perish on that day. But regardless they pushed on, taking the Martians head on to allow the steamers pass by! Thunderchild and her crew gave their lives so that the civilians could escape to France whilst the Martians had their full attention on the Ironclad. Farewell, Thunderchild.....

    BBC: Sorry we did not have the budget for a proper Thunderchild scene.

      Exactly, the CGI was pretty decent and wholesome, plus it's the first time I've seen a war machine cut down and rammed. Pretty epic.

    out numbered against a superior enemy and still took 2 of them down. It is a high point in science fiction and very inspiring.

      I think it was 3?
      IIRC The ships magazine exploded at the end, taking out a third. But I have not read the book for quite a while.

      @@marksaunderson3042 We kinda don’t know, the Thunderchild was covered in the smoke and we didn’t see what happened. But if the Thunderchild didn’t destroy the third, the other 3 ships surely did.

    The entire performance was brilliant I couldn't choose a favourite part. It was added to with the extras showing the work going in to the Burton and the tripod etc. With so few live singers they put a lot of work in to the whole effect of the show, it was amazing. It is better in the actual production rather than from what looks like a unofficial recording shall we say.
    I never had the good fortune to see it live, but a friend book a cinema screen at an indi cinema for private use, and projected it for a few invited friends. Legal as there were no fees to see it. The screen was as big as that on the stage so it was the second best thing to seeing it live.

    I wonder why, out of all of the live shows, the animators don't rotate the ship's main battery. They are locked in place. It's kinda weird.

    • @mirandalockey7334
      @mirandalockey7334 Před 2 lety +5

      Maybe budget? I mean not only do they have to animate it, but save space in the budget for the price to hold the show in the theater, and to build all the props, and pyrotechnics. I mean the animation looks straight out of a ps2.

    • @nerdzy8454
      @nerdzy8454 Před 2 lety +3

      @@mirandalockey7334 Honestly, I don't even think that's much of an issue. The animation has been pretty inconsistent throughout the history of these shows. Sometimes they have some really smooth and well made clips, other times they replace those scenes with some really sketchy and poorly made ones. There doesn't seem to be a pattern for what gets replaced, and what looks more polished, it's like they just throw things together.

    • @roguerover7598
      @roguerover7598 Před rokem +3

      To be fair, at those times Dreadnaught gun batteries were very slow to rotate. They showed AA and casemates firing which are a bit anarchronistic to one another, but I'll vibe to it.
