This was 4 years ago. This kid has gone on to break the world record ... what was it ... three times now?? Time flies. This just shows that all the struggle and training he went through paid off
huh?
@@pdrrelay5905 this clip they posted is 4 years old. Mondo is 21 now and has the world record
@@litaf9948 oh wow. i thought they were talking in a future tense
5 times now…
He's probably going to break the world record in one centimeter increments for many years to come like Sergi Bubka did for about in the 80s and 90s.
Seeing this dude behind the scenes is sooooo inspiring
He is dating my cousin
@@norasundholm6168 that's fun!
Right? Now I just feel like doing something
“His shins are hurting a little, probably from long jumping last week” my life in a sentence.
When the whole team is watching, that's when he makes them. That's a champion.
And now, he's a gold medalist.
The football kids be like "yo man I'm gonna be a star in the N-F-L stop playing." Meanwhile, Mondo already the star.
Yt recommend me this. All his work r now paid off. He is insane. Wish more coming for him
This man starts at 16”6 I start at 6”6
The most beautiful sport..
GOAT out the work in
Women's world record at 16 ft 7 in put his training jumps into perspective.
No it doesn’t. Comparing one thing to a completely different thing does not put either things into perspective. If you were to compare his heights then to what they are now and say “put into perspective how far you can come” then yeah but what you said is just wrong.
@@alexbelisle9868 What I am pointing out is that in training with a really short run up, just to practice his technique, he easily clears the women's world record. I am saying this gives an idea of how good this guy is, ie I am complimenting his ability.
@@ZimbaZumba that still gives no perspective since the women's world record is achievable by most high school men.
Homko so comparing pole vault to pole vault is comparing 2 completely different things?
@@Codemeister1998 16'7 is not achievable by most highschool men
he is so cool
In case you're new to Mondo, check him out at The Tokyo Olympics.Age 21.Hes 17 here.
More Mondo training #swinguprack
Am a University of Houston fan, Carl Lewis and Leroy Burrell.
Oh sorry football players...am I in your way?
I felt the same way. I thought it was kinda disrespectful to crowd around him while he’s practicing as if he not working or anything.
@@jeffsanders3453 they were just trying to get some water though. didn't seem to bother him
The football players do this at my school too lol
Technically he's in their way
@@jeffsanders3453 I know you can literally hear someone say can yall get out the way bruh
Isn't this a repost?
I hope these guys are our pilots in the sky to all over the world.
Football ball players probably not realizing they’re looking at gold to be
Training seems to be mostly doing lots of vaulting
On jump days yea. I’m college I only actually jumped twice a week one long run one short run day
Well he do alot of sprint training, cause the speed is crucial in pole vault . He generates all that power through his pole with his outstanding speed and of course from his unbelievable talent and love for his sport ;)
Yeah, he was ready.
And now 6.22 ...👍👍👍
how old is this
I think it’s around 4 years old
what we’re the football players doing
getting water, you can see the machine that's right next to Mondo at the 1:00 mark
Always do better with people watching!!
God loves you
He’s also clearing this from 4-5 lefts that’s a very short runway
Yea, he was ready.
What school??
This was 2017 at Lafayette High School, then went to LSU before going pro
🇸🇪💪🏻
親父イケメンやな〜
AND NOW HE HAS JUMPED 6*19!!!!!!!!!
and 6.20!!! lol
@@777hubbahubba ...now 6.21m!
6.22 😊
6.23 🤩
Now 6.24
Please in Meters too. We Europeans are not so familiar with feet. Thanks.
You need a longer run. You're rushing your plant. But you have figured that out now. LOL
Gold medallist now!😂✌
These were mid-run approaches meant to work on technique, not all-out vaulting.

The toughest event in track & field
Cheers
I don’t know about toughest, but definitely most technical. The people who do PV I’d say are the overall most athletic of any track athlete. But when it comes to the hardest competition event, it must be the middle distances
@@benanastasoff8980
Have you ever tried to pole vault?
I did.
Also roomed with world class vaulter in college and tried their WO’s
As a runner my hat go’s off to vaulters.
Agree to disagree
@@bluetickfreddy101 This is an empirical question that's easy to answer, I'd argue that runners lactate more than pole vaulters which means they're obviously working harder than PV's.
@@bluetickfreddy101 I absolutely agree that pole vaulters are extremely impressive. The amount of work they do to be both physically strong enough and in practice to use the pole to their advantage the way they do is incredible. I also know the kind of training MD and distance runners do though and I know how hard it is to keep running fast for as long as an 800m. I appreciate all disciplines in the sport of Athletics for their individual difficulties and triumphs. The pole vault not being the most strenuous event is not a bad thing by any accounts. It does require the most technique and all around physique of any event, and that is why I respect it so much. But following a world class PV competition, vaulters are far less spent than an 800/1500 guy. Not to mention the recovery period necessary for the marathon and ultras. There’s a reason why an athlete as great as Mondo can just keep on breaking records week after week and winning DL competitions less than a week apart. It’s because it isn’t as physically strenuous as distance running. You don’t see even the Great marathoners like Kipchoge running every marathon on the WMM list. They physically can’t do it because it would break down their bodies too much. That is what makes that discipline impressive. Like I said, every part of track and field has its own challenges. But the challenge of PV is not about it being the most physically demanding
Geez
Boy
The can of worms i opened up
Hilarious
