Great video I was just testing my three vehicles obviously when we run them and check them if the cold crank amps is low, the battery has seen his life. One of my batteries is seven years old so I know it’s time to change it.
Thanks, yes CCA is king really, better indicator than voltage which can often stay above 12V but slowly loose power to start the engine. These little battery testers are a good useful device to have and quick to use. :-)
Hello Harvey. You forgot the link I think. This is a kind of tool that I already has thought to buy but never did. I have some batteries at home from cars, moto, solar panels and PSU. In vehicles if you let charge all night and it would not start you can say it is bad without a tester or there is other mechanical issue. In the other devices the important is the capacity that the majority of this low cost testers not test. So I concluded that I will only need a tester in a professional case and never bought one. How do you use the tester if the CCA is not written on the battery?
Some batteries have no info on them & most small gel cell batteries only have the ah rating.
The figure maybe under something else like SAE, if if nothing but a make then all you can do is look up the battery model online. Some manufacturers ones do that, so it would be logged down somewhere like the handbook or the main dealer will be able to look it up for your specific model.
The question was about, what if it isn't there. I even have some with the brand and no indication of anything else. Is this thing just useless with such a battery? @@HatBoyHarvey
very coincidental, I had the engine management light on about 2 months ago. I have had the car on the charger, after testing of course. the light went off when starting after 8 hours of charging. I installed a new battery just to be safe. after a few weeks of driving around, the car shows the light again ... if the battery is weak again ... what can it be? my guess is the alternator.
If you test the voltage at the battery when the car is running it should be higher around 14volts.
@@HatBoyHarvey I have tested the battery, it was above 14 volt when. Charging.
When starting it drops to 10-11 volt.
When it's off, the battery is at 12.07 12.08 volt.
Also checked other stuff like the maintenance book, the last maintenance was at 6th month of 2022 and I haven't driven much from that moment.
The only bad thing I found was that the oil is/was low (above minimum but low).
The water pump and timing belt has been changed somewhere in 2019.
Don't know if it's important to know for knowing what's wrong with it.. but it's a 2L 116 hp
And I have some electrical issues as well:
sometimes the trunk don't wanna open (from the outside but does with the key).
Sometimes when I want to close the driver window.. the driver window opens instead.
Sometimes the remote control doesn't work.
And as last the Cruise control doesn't work but I have told about that earlier.
I will order an OBD scanner soon but don't know if it has to be OBD or OBD2
