OMG this makes SO much more sense why that they focused on this one random waitress so much in the final cut 😂 I always thought it was so weird that they made a point of showing her so much but with the context of the deleted scenes, now I see why

Ashley Johnson was initially being considered for the role of *_Sharon Carter,_* Steve Rogers' (Captain America I) most often circled back to lover in Marvel Comics; with Ashley's appearance in [The Avengers (2012) film] meant to be a set-up.
Sadly, scheduling conflicts prevented Johnson being able to fully commit to an MCU long-contract. So the MCU-Sharon role instead went to Emily VanCamp instead.
That being said, with Ashley not being burdened by MCU contract/duties, and (later) able to attend the Critical Role series with her friends more often, and MCU-Sharon's _'Heel Turn'_ in [The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) TV mini-series], it probably was better off in the long-term end. *;)*
We wouldn't have had the cringy relationship between Steve and Sharon Carter. So that would be a bright side.

She did a great job - I guess this was a good audition real for Blindspot and Some of Us. years before Crit Role which is the context I came to hear of her. Excellent to see this!
@@spaceman9599 She must have done better than that. Her IMDB page she is known for the Avengers. With all those scenes cut she must not have been on screen for more than a minute? That is making an impact.

These hang together incredibly well. Five minutes that change the whole film. But I’m also glad they cut them out. Maybe a Director’s Cut some years down the line.
I heard somewhere that they cose to cut the coffee scene because it was part of a larger sequence that focused more on capita American and they where afraid that people would think that this was primarily a Capitan America movie.

Honestly, you could have easily turned this into a 5 minute short. It reminds me of an actual comic book. You know, big action is going on in 'The Avengers' but if you pick up the Captain America issue that week it's a story about a waitresses survival during that event and how Captain America's actions saved her life. This is still very watchable.

Seems like a nice idea poorly executed, she doesn't talk much, interact with other people or anything...
I think the goal was to show the drama on civilian's POV, but didn't reach that...
Who's Ashley Johnson, and what's the big deal with being shown like this. It had NOTHING to do with the plot or flow of this movie.
