It should have been called "The Last of Us: Division" It divided fans into 2 categories. Most hate or love the story. Almost down in half according to user scores. 0's and 10's.
LosN209 I personally don’t care for user scores the experience of a game is subjective for the specific person playing it, as with all media it will be loved or hated especially for taking the risks they did to tell the story the way they did. I may have not agreed with some of the creative decisions towards the story but it still is undeniably one of the best games to release this generation love it or hate it that’s just a fact
Despite the really messy story for me she should win for the Last of Us part 2 because it's all about performance.
I love that she said "not sexualized, or a damsel in distress, or the opposite." Because naughty dog didn't make Ellie, unrealistically perfect, or in distress all the time, but they didn't go out of their way to make her very masculine, or tough-girl. They just made her a human being, nothing political, or social justice about it. Hats off to naughty dog

Kyo Ani but with this speech, I don't think Ashley will let it be that way. It's not just Neil calling the shots for everything. Ashley and Troye get input as well actually. Ashley still today agrees with this so Ellie won't be some overly powerful person.

That speech, and especially the way she ended it, is exactly why I respect her as an actor and as a person. Not only did she put soo much of herself into Ellie, she seems like a really kind and fun person to hang out with. She really deserved this award! :)

Seeing her portray Ellie's mother in the season finale Sunday night was truly amazing. 💗 I'm so glad they incorporated her into the show and paid homage to the original game in that way.

In both The Last of Us, and in the Left Behind expansion, Ashley Johnson delivered one of the greatest performances in the history of the gaming industry. There is no way that this award wasn’t hers. She completely deserved it, and I can’t wait to play through and witness her performance in The Last of Us Part II alongside Troy Baker. It’ll be incredible.

Yeah I realize, but during the panel for TLoU Part 2, it was mentioned that the game has been in the works for years, so Ashley knew Ellie was indeed coming back - not necessarily to the BAFTAs, but still. She and Troy both mentioned having to lie a lot because they couldn't spoil it

I went into this video thinking "oh yeah I would love to see her speech, probably really nice and fun haha! It's just 5 minutes." AND NOW I'M CRYING!!! I love her so much and just as she said, this game also changed MY life. Ellie has made me so happy over the few years I got to experience with her and I really hope she inspires other game makers and writers to take her as an example of a well represented character especially for us women.
