Love the fabric you chose for the background of the stars. I’ve also used the WRONG SIDE of a low volume fabric to lighten it even more.

Like this block and need to know what way your pressing seams and what foot your using on the sewing machine your using.
I have trouble with the machine eating the corners of the triangles even using a single hole plate.
Are you using the wking foot?

@@patriciaburt1772 I’m using the regular foot. I didn’t use a walking foot. I pressed to one side. You could press the seams open too.

Without a pattern, I have no idea how much background and backing I need of the cream collage, to make a good sized sofa cuddle blanket, but not so large I can’t do edge to edge quilting. How many dot packages would I need….and fat quarters or eights. I’d rather have more than enough than too little! I love this star quilt and plan to make it!

@@c.christman9649 I used about 2 1/2 yards for the background . Maybe a little more. Mine is a king size. I used a whole fat quarter bundle and two more pieces for two extra stars

Is there a pattern for the star square(s)? I don't have peripheral vision in either eye and need see pattern and or measurements for each piece to make a star. Love your channel.
Thank you! It’s called a sawtooth star. I’ve done it for years. I don’t have a written pattern but there are tons of free patterns of this one around. Check the internet or Pinterest.

I put it in the description. The color blocks are 3 7/8 inch squares and the flying geese section of the background was a 7 1/4 inch square cross cut.

It’s a fabric that is out of print. We found the last of it and bought all they had.

It’s not in print anymore but we liked it so much that we bought out what the company had when we found out that was all they had left. We have it in 108”. We still use it the same. You just won’t need as much of it. 😁

It’s not a set in stone rule. Some people do and some don’t. I never have and have never had a problem. It’s a personal preference thing. I’ve never had anything mess up.

O I love that cream background fabric but unfortunately, it’s out of stock! It’s so disappointing for a beginner quilter to want to make a project and the fabric is no longer available, sadly. I live in Canada and quilt shops are few…I don’t even know where they are anymore. I’ve ordered from the states but it’s so expensive when duty, etc is covered…I cannot afford it. Does anyone know?

Why do you not make 4 at a time flying geese ? Do you save more fabric this way? Tilda is so costly….
Because I’ve already done a video like that and I’m trying to show different methods. There is no extra fabric used in this method.
