- How easy or safe is it to travel within Mexico? This time we're headed to Playa del Carmen, but we'll get there by bus after flying to Cancun. Join the adventure!
We landed at the Cancun airport at night, so we spent the night at a hotel nearby in order to travel to Playa during the day. We caught the well-known ADO bus from the airport, but we made a mistake that almost made the whole experience a little more challenging.

Hello,Renata. Thanks for a nice report of Playa de Carmen. I know how beautiful the Carib is. I visited Isla Mujeres last Christmas time. I stayed there for 3 nights and loved it. It was much quieter than Cancun and we can enjoy water activities and the prices are inexpensive. That’s the difference from Cancun. Next time I want to visit Playa de Carmen. Hisashi

Great video. I was thinking of taking the local bus into the main bus station in Cancun to then transfer to Playa Del Carmen. I did not realize you can go straight from the airport. Thanks for info! Price is very good too. I love Playa Del Carmen, the last time I went we had rented a car and drove there on the way to Chichén Itzá. Thanks for sharing!

On our last trip to Merida, we flew from Calgary to Cancun with the intention of catching the bus from the airport to Merida. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed and we missed the last bus by 15 minutes. We had to go into Cancun to the bus depot there where we were able to catch a later bus. The busses there are really comfortable and we've used them a few times.

Me encanta cuando hacen videos de mi bello Quintana Roo, yo creo que hubiera sido más fácil tomar el ado del aeropuerto a cancun y de ahí a playa del carmen.... Hay 24 horas servicio de autobús de cancun a playa del carmen y asi no hubiéran pernotado en el hotel.

For the most part we felt totally safe...but one needs to pay attention to the news
I have been traveling with ADO for over 40 years,it's the best and safest way..

@@RenataPereiraTV Yes,i have taken The ADO from The airport all the way to Mahahual and back..spend 2 weeks diving at Banco Chinchorro...one of the few outer islands that tourist don't know about..

@@RenataPereiraTV It's not an easy island to visit and only 10 divers per day are allowed..Only a few fishermen live on the island with their family and The University of Spain has full control of the island.So i am not worried about it getting like Isla Mujeres ot Holbox.

I can not speak for current conditions. We filmed in Jan and the beaches were clean for the most part

That's a bit rude, the housekeeping staff asking for tips, I'm British and the housekeepers would only get a tip on leaving if they had done something above and beyond their normal duties. Tipping is only done having received excellent service and is not expected by staff. A tip may sometimes be left with reception for the staff on checking out. Tipping is not expected in the UK and a lot of Europe. More so since fewer people carry cash these days and almost everything is paid by phone or card.
Yes, and the whole region seems geared to the tourists. Service is decent in North America and yet the tipping percentages have gone up...machines now asking for 18%/20%/25%. Crazy
Be noticed that most often housekeeping duties or tableling services in Mexico are paid basically on a tips basis. If they are lucky those people receive the minimum wage ($265 USD... a month!). In Europe or USA laboral things are quite different. I invite you to support locals. It's cheap and you contribute to keep a really good service. Regards from Mexico ✌🏽🇲🇽

This area follows USA standards as this is a major market for American tourists. So, 15% is probably minimum and can be as high as 25%. The credit card machines indicate that.

The taxi is ridiculous expensive I went to Mexico in 2022 and the hotel that I stayed pick me from the airport and took me to the hotel (JW Marriot) no cost,,, and to take a taxi from the hotel I pay like 2 or 4 dollar the hotel called the taxi for me it was not expensive and very safe❤❤❤ I will come back Mexico is beautiful
Yes, quite true. A distinction to make is that some hotels charge extra for airport transport and others do not. Is it fair to say more expensive hotels will include the transport?
Having said that, Cancun is very much like Las Vegas, they have perfected the marketing, to bring in the tourists, to have them spend.

Do they have Uber to get to the airport?
Yes, but word of warning...taxis don't like Uber encroaching on territory. Please research, best to use local transport and the bus we use between cities is totally safe

I don't understand why you went back to the airport because you have an ADO terminal at the entrance at the hotel zone. Going back to the airport of Cancun to go to Playa is just a huge loss of time.
We were not in the hotel zone and it was our first time to Cancun. The hotel was next to the airport. We will return and flush out more details about taking ADO buses next trip. Thanks for your information

avoid at all costs, i want you to enjoy your trip... they have a dozen ways to make you pay twice, when you get robbed they laugh, i have seen them at stops open the luggage and someone from the street walk up and walk off with a suitcase, etc etc... i was having seizures from heat exhaustion and they tried to throw me off thinking i was drunk... they have called immigration with dogs on me at least four times... pay the extra to enjoy your trip
