Thanks for the great and helpful info! Yours was the first video on hygrophila that I've found that shows where to cut. I have the Blue hygro and have been looking for this detail for weeks. Superb video.
I have some hygro that can grow entirely out of one leaf, especially after trimming. It takes a couple of weeks or a month depending on how "dirty" the water is/excess nutrients are in the water. Most of my plants are in a tank just for plants or in an emersed terrarium.
I got my hands on some hygro sunset and the stuff is beautiful, grows really quickly, and it's impossible to kill. Mine has this creeping behavior across the driftwood which makes it both beautiful but hard to keep managed. Since it is a noxious weed, whatever trimmings I can't give away to friends, I dry out before throwing away. I don't want to be responsible for that stuff getting in any water ways!
I have just added the H.salicifolia, and I believe what you are showing are emersed foliage..its supposed to grow longer narrow leaves underwater (Willow like) and with the slightest of blue sheen..but i have yet to see a photo of one with that blue sheen. I might try and be the first . A goal. Also, did you mention that large leaved Hygro's love potassium?..and iron gluconate? They need much of those to grow and not get pinholes or turn yellowish.
I have a giant temple hygro that became compact after I trimmed it one too many times. Be aware that pruning a plant too much will stunt its growth or kill it if done in frequently (like every month or so). This may encourage some other plants to grow more but it doesn't apply to every other plant.
My blue hygro plants are always sprouting roots part way up the stem. Is there any way to prevent this? And is this a sign of anything bad? I know that to propagate them you cut between segments and the roots will sprout. But why do they sprout when there is no cutting? Could it be an injury to the plant?
so as I haven't found an answer to my question I will ask it again, can I use acclimated herbs in my freshwater fish tank. the ones I have converted are Tanzie, Thyme, and Mint. Help please.
I grew Hygro sunset with my goldfish. It grew better with the goldfish than with my tropical fish/shrimp! It actually grew taller under low light/temp, the goldfish didn't like eating it, and it formed enough roots that the goldfish didn't dig it up by picking at the substrate.
I love hygrophila, especially the pinitifida, and somewhat the Polysperma and sunset.
This is so informative! Great job, fantastic reporting!🌻🌼🐝 Keep it up 🙌

Thanks for sharing n making simpler
I enjoyed watching your presentation on those plants. How far apart is the spacing on these plants when you plant them? Thank you for sharing!

I love how the look kind of like underwater palm trees
Could you do a video on hygro compact I haven’t found a whole lot of good info on this one.

ARAGUAIA is interesting, looks like nano bamboo.. something to put as middle ground in nano tank with scarce plantation..
So will the Araguiaia survive emersed?

Aerial roots are normal. Just another way that these plants access food.

😅I’m really trying to study and learn. Still not confident with naming. But thank you so much! I’ll probably be getting some pretty soon!
How come mine is kinda reddish isn’t this plant meant to be green
