How to Dehydrate Strawberries in the Instant Pot Duo Crisp

- This week I have WAY too many strawberries, so I'm using my Instant Pot Duo Crisp + Air Fryer to dehydrate strawberries - this way I won't waste a thing and dehydrated strawberries on home made muesli are absolutely yummalicious! If you've not used your Instant Pot Duo Crisp for dehydrating before, strawberries are a great place to start. They are so simple and then all there is do is jar them up, check for condensation then store in a dark cupboard ready for those amazing breakfast treats. I hope you like them!

Ah man, I just put the rest of my hand picked strawberries in the freezer. Didnât think of dehydrating some. Iâll dehydrate some peaches and blueberries in my duo crisp. Dehydrated some mushrooms. Thanks for the reminder!
Wow lovely! I freeze them too but I've grown to really love them dehydrated. Like little special sweets. When they really come into their own is when you open a jar of dehydrated strawberries in winter. The Smell is AMAZING and into the porridge they go . I've not done mushrooms yet but definitely on my list. Have a lovely weekend Rlynn đ
Iâm so glad I found this. Not many people do these videos for the instant pot.
Hi there, you are very welcome. Glad it was helpful and you get some of that dehydrated strawberry love in a jar too đđ
Thanks for all the details and the aftercare related to condensation⊠i havenât seen anyone else mention that.
Youâre very welcome đ
Thanks for the concise yet informative video!
Youâre welcome - my favourite dehydrated fruit by far!
Thank you for sharing this. Good info!
You're welcome Kay - thanks so much for taking the time to share such lovely feedback đ
So glad you demonstrated the dehydrating feature on the duo crisp. So exciting! I can't wait to dehydrate stuff now. I think I could make jerky too, hmmm. Thank you & be well.
It's so good Millie! What a surprise that it actually works for those little batches we want to get done. Hope you have fun experimenting.
Lovely video :) Thank you!
Thank you so much Lida
Perfect! I have been looking for preserving with instant pot.
That's great! Hope you enjoy
It was so easy. Good luck.
Hello from Michigan.
I stumbled on your video on how to dehydrate strawberries in hopes that you also had a video on raspberries.
I wasnât able to find one after looking for over an hour on the web & I could feel my frustration getting worse but after I watched your video on the strawberries I found that youâre voice had calmed me down from watching my 100th video on dehydrating fruit..
Donât get me wrong I did find many ways to do it but just couldnât find one that told me the exact dehydration temperature & for how long to dehydration them for.
Watching all kinds of different videos has my head swirling around
Iâve searched hi & low for a way to dehydrate my fresh raspberries in my Insta pot with the air fryer lid.
I donât want to give up on it but Iâm just more confused on how they picked out the correct temperature & cooking time for their fruit.
All that being said I wanted to personally thank you for your video & I hope to view more of your videos.
Have a wonderful day. Deb
Hi Deb and thank you so much for that lovely feedback. I'm glad you got a little peace as you stopped by the channel.
I've dehydrated raspberries before and made a powder which was lovely. Dehydrating is not as scientific as a lot of cooking can be which is a good and a bad thing as I know when I was starting out, I just wanted clear instructions. I've got a book by Tammy Gangloff which I use as a guide and suggests this for raspberries : (1) make sure they're completely dry before dehydrating (2) lay them out with the pointed side facing up. (3)dehydrate for 18-20 hours at 125F
The timing may differ with the Instant Pot so keep an eye on them - when done they should be brittle and easily crush between your fingers. If they are pliable, they're not quite ready. They take a good while, dependent on the size of the berries.
I hope that helps
Looks great, Susan. Iâm going tovyhe farmers market today to get strawberries (and whatever else looks good). Itâs supposed to hit 108° đ„” today. My Vitamix has arrived . the menu for the week is gazpacho, strawberry daiquiris and little else until the heat breaks.
Sounds good to me! Hope you get some cooler weather soon.
@@CookingandCalm market was gorgeous! I almost took a picture for you :) I got dinner in the crockpot before I left. I need to rest a bit and out my feet up. Then ⊠itâs daiquiri time, even if it is only noon :)
Sounds lovely! There's a nice recipe in NYT food this weekend for a good gazpacho that might keep you cool - perfect for vitamix! (Will need more iced water as you don't need to strain with vitamix)
Hi - Thank you so much for getting right to the point :0). I will definitely be trying this. How long do you think they'll last in that jar?
As long as you do the conditioning and completely dry I've had them for 6 months really good , then started to fade in colour and smell but still perfectly edible. I've seen some CZcamsrs more experienced than me use silicon pouches to make things last longer too. For the strawberries, I find I can't keep them long and always swear to do more next year as they're soooo delicious đ
I got the 13-in-1 with the ultimate lid and the dehydrate function isn't making any noise or creating any warmth. Does yours make noise and create warmth when dehydrating? I've kept it at about 51 degrees Celsius for 6+ hours now and everything remains moist and stone-cold. The heating element in the lid is also cold. It just arrived this week, so it's brand new. I checked the manual and I initiated the dehydrate function properly. I'm not sure what else to try, as the proofing function doesn't get warm enough for what I require at the moment. If anybody else has had this same issue, please reply lol :[
Yes it makes a noise and the fan should spin so that sounds like there might be a fault to me. It does take ages but you should have seen a difference in them by now as they gradually lose moisture and start to shrink away from each other and get small. I hope it gets fixed ok for you.
Hello Cooking and calm.
Would you be able to advise. How to dry coconut?
I love making coconut milk.
After i sieve (with a cheese cloth). the coconut which is shredded/desiccated. It basically goes to waste.
I would love to use it to make coconut cake for example. But it can't be moist desiccated coconut. It has to be dry.
Packets of that in the shop cost a few pounds for how much i get for 2 coconuts worth.
Of course i can't place desiccated coconut on that plate like you did with strawberries. It would fall through the holes
Thanks
Hi Dave , I haven't done it but let me share some info and hazard some guesses. The suggested timing from @PurposefulPantry is to dry at 135°F / 57°C for between 8-12 hours. She is a dehydrating wiz so I'm sure this would be right. Probably on the lower end of that for Instant Pot. I'm not sure whether it might be too 'blowy' in the Crisp for shredded coconut but you could try getting some dehydrator mesh or similar that can be cut to size (Or just put in a cake tin that fits while you're trying it out). I've heard some people even drying it in the oven but the lower temperatures are always better if you have something like the Crisp or a dehydrator in terms of even drying and maintaining as much as you can of nutritional content. Happy experimenting
Hello... can you please let me know where I can purchase the stacking rack from? Thank you.
Hi there. I got mine from Amazon. I've put a link in the description - hope that helps đ
Look great. I wonder what the cost is to do it at home compared to buying ready dried.
Good question! I've not calculated it as we're lucky to have solar so I do it on that. The taste is completely different - amazing compared to shop bought, so pros and cons I should think
Quick question! Where did you get the extra trays?
Hi Dan, I've put a link in the description for the stacking stand of trays - I got mine from Amazon and they have lots of different ones too. Just search "instant pot accessories dehydration" or use my link below. Hope that helps đ
@@CookingandCalm thanks so much â€ïž
You're very welcome
oh that insert is diffrent than the one i have where did you purchase ! đ
Hi there, they don't sell the exact model I have anymore but I've put details of one in the description which looks very similar (SICHEER Dehydrator Rack) Just check the diameter against your instant pot/multi-cooker. Hope that helps.
I have a dehydrator at home but when I travel for work I take an Instant Pot along. I found about a pound of Carolina Reapers at the store for under $9, so I bought them up. Have had them going under the dehydrate setting on the Duo Crisp for over 24 hours now and there is barely any noticeable change. I usually dry chilis over night at like 125* but Iâve cranked this badboy up to 165 and still no progress. Iâm using the air fryer lid (verified to air fry recently) and the included air fryer insert. What could be going wrong?
That is so weird - if anything I've found it is a bit hotter than I'd always lije and definitely quicker than standalone - I'd contact instant pot on this. Sounds like some kind of thermostat issue or similar to me. How annoying for you - hope it gets fixed soon
Please How long did they wind up taking, ?
Hi there đ. Depending on how thinly sliced they usually take 8-12 hours . I think from memory these were about 10 . Hope that helps
In have put them voor 10 hours in de instant pot put they turn out too thin and crispy, they break into little pieces trying to peel them off the rack.. too long or sliced too thin ? Thank you for your video!
Oh that's disappointing. My guess would be too thin - they should be about 1/4". The little pieces will still be edible - just put them in a bit of water or elderflower cordial etc for a couple hours and they should soften a bit . If you do porridge in instant pot try putting them in with main cook and that might work too - I'm just guessing but worth an experiment. Or you can put the little bits into a blender and make a strawberry powder - delicious on yogurt or ice cream đŠ
@@CookingandCalm thans you? it will take hours to peel them off. so you think of i put them in water they will not become soft again? ok iÂŽll try! but they are very tastefull so i will not throw them away
yes they will become soft again if you put the whole trays in water. I've honestly never had this happen. Usually when they're sticking it means it means they are not quite dry, but it's not that. Sorry to not be of more help. I'm stumped.
@@CookingandCalm no problem youÂŽve been of great assistance! iÂŽll keep you updated! shame in canÂŽt send you a picture
You're welcome. Good luck with it
It would have been nice to hear you talking through more of the tutorial. I have a visual impairment so it makes it hard to look at what you are doing as well as the instructions. You have a nice voice so it would be a shame for you not to use it. Have a good day.
Sorry about that Michelle, I'm still learning all of this video making thing and will plan to do more voice over instructions. Thank you for sharing that so kindly and constructively. I really appreciate it.
Is it possible to dehydrate milk in any Instant Pot, do you think?
I doubt it as there isn't the width in the IP to get it spread out enough. I think I read somewhere that this also isn't food safe. Try @ThePurposefulPantry Darcy knows absolutely everything about dehydrating :)
@@CookingandCalm That's great to know, and thank you for your response. Great channel by the way!!
thanks Ian đ
