While Helldivers 2 fans celebrated the reversal of Sony’s decision to require a PSN account to play the game on PC moving forward, this saga is far from over, and Sony continues to lurch forward with this plan in other ways.
In the wake of the fact that Helldivers 2 players in 177 regions still cannot purchase the game, even after the PSN reversal, now, players are finding they cannot buy Ghost of Tsushima’s upcoming PC release, and Steam is actually refunding early purchases of the game due to Sony’s PSN requirement which again, is impossible in those regions where you cannot make such an account.
Sony has not officially commented on this, but it’s clear nothing about this is an error. The idea was that Sony was going to require PSN accounts for its online games going forward, but in this case, there was the idea that since only one portion of Tsushima, an optional multiplayer mode, was online, that the single player game could still be played. Not sure about America but in Europe they don't sell your data it is in the T&C. They only share it with 3rd parties for legal reasons, like if there was a request by the police.

But why is this stupid tho? They communicated the mandatory PSN linking for GoT pre release and people are again mad? What they did on HD2, Ok, fair enough, but now they doing exactly that what was criticized on HD2 and people are still mad? I mean it is difficult to blame Sony now on this one cause they did nothing wrong. In fact they are just catching up with any other major publisher who have been using mandatory account creation for their games for years now.

I KNEW this was only about PS+. Imagine having to pay a company to play online in 2024.
Xbox and Sony both do. Sony even has cloud storage for saves and if your ps plus runs out you can't access them lol.
I once had my PlayStation break at the same time as my PSN ran out and I couldn't get my save files 🤣
In the beginning psn was not required back on PS3. It was just a way to get free games which they still do. You get like 3 games a month. But to pay for online is bonkers.

With PS plus its not just online you get, you get a few free games every month, skins/cosmetics, deals on other games sold, and cloud storage. Not to mention you still have access to physical games if you want!
Gaming is in a strange spot right now. I've been gaming for 35 years now and there have only been a few times it's been this bad
The last time it was this bad I quit for 10 years. It was when these companies were pushing for these peripheral plastic devices like Guitar Hero, Rock Band, or the crappy Tony Hawk Skateboard. I also thought the future was gonna be more of the Wii, the PS Motion, and Kinect casual game crap. Microsoft certainly did.
Man there are lots of free to play games, older games you can get for 5-10 dollars on sale. If you're buying at full price, special editions, early access crap, this is why games are bad and it's on the gamers that buy this shit.
I'll say that if Sony planned to do all this PS+ requirement they should've made this clear months ago. I feel like they decided to do this crap last minute.

Sony would not want a linking of their PS+ platform with Steam, NO ONE would find that acceptable. It's one thing to link a PSN account, quite another to link a subscription account, where a lot of what you get will not even show up on Steam. It IS kind of half assed that the single player bit of Ghost of Tsushima requires no linking of PSN but the Legends part, the co op bit does!!
In the near future the only way to play PS games on pc will be trough PSN or PS+ like it or not.

It’s still an issue for Helldivers as well. The PSN requirement was backtracked but the affected countries never got access back to that game. Which only tells us Sony is going to wait and try and put it back in later.
Sony never removed Psn launcher from Helldivers 2 and people talking about victory and Bs but psn launcher is still under Helldivers 2 game... 🤦🏼♂️

It boggles my mind that Sony is causing issues by enforcing a stupid mandate. This can be easily fixed by simply giving people the option to bypass PSN account in regions where you cannot access PSN.
Make PSN an optional feature and give people incentives to sign up, instead of going this strong-arm route which is only leading to disaster.

AAAAh i love how people were telling me in the previous video that I was late to the party/wrong that they still have them delisted in those 177 countries. they also added baltics to the list on top of it all.
Microsoft and Sony are having the worst weeks of their lives at this point I might as well go full PC at this point because of how shit their policies have become as well as the layoffs only discourage people from even buying console games when news like this hits on the internet. Console gaming has been on the decline for years PC gaming and mobile are definitely growing in comparisons and that's just sad, it's definitely going to discourage people from buying either Xbox or Playstation down the line because so far all the sales for either Xbox or Playstation are pretty much returning customers they're not new customers.

At least with PC you only have to pay your provider in order to have access to games especially on Steam where you just create a steam account and there you go you can instantly start buying games you don't have to pay steam to have access to your games that you already bought just buy games and thats it, but with Xbox and Sony you have to pay their price whether you're on Xbox game pass or PlayStation Plus you pay just to have access to the games that you already bought on their platform, that's what anybody would Call a scam.

Im confused, recently got a steam deck, and i had to create accounts for Rockstar, EA, and Ubisoft to play Red dead 2, assassin creed games, and jedi games. Can someone explain the differences with this? Im not joking and serious? Appreciate it
Couple of things..1st. Sony claims its for security and protection..given sony's track record of being hacked, its not realy that secure. 2nd. PSN is only available in certain countries..this causes the delisting of games in steam that requires PSN for those that doesnt support PSN. 3rd. It realy more of a preference. Why create a console account when you are playing in PC...hope this helps.

They are encouraging piracy. If you make your product legally and easily available, and reasonably priced - you'll never have to worry about your software being pirated because people with morals will support the development before they pirate it.
They will have this cracked day one and it will make its rounds in the p2p community and they will lose millions of dollars and it will be their own fault.

Little correction here. Steam made stated that they did NOT delisted the games themselves. It was all on Sony. So it's Sony, who it's making the consciousdecisionof NOT selling these games, on all these regions, and rather to take the hit of sales, than backing out of just giving the option to not register to their accounts, or sell a version of GoT without multiplayer! As a side note, Helldivers 2 wasn't available on EGS from the getgo, but GoT was available for pre-purchase, but not anymore, just like with Steam.

You don't need a PSN account for the single player campaign. It's only for "Legends mode" (online multiplayer) which is separate from the base game.

Why is it never enough money? Us! Some people said greed is good in a sarcastic manner and they thought we were serious. Most notably Oliver Stone in the Movie Wall Street. Those who worship money ran with that message completely ignoring its satirical intent. The worst part people played follow the leader and now everyone, the average person included, wants not just their piece of the pie but yours too. These people were allowed to be put into these positions because when the alarm bells were rung long ago; everyone ignored them so they could "get that bag". Like George Carlin said "our leaders are garbage because we're garbage, garbage in, garbage out".

6:04 the reason why Sony stock is going down is because it came out that their profits per game are down and it seems like they just can't make them go up unless they increase the price of games or lower budgets by a lot. This tells investors that Sony is not making ALL the money for them and also Sony has not really done a massive studio closure and mass firing like Microsoft to save money(London studio barely did anything). The reason why MS is a 3 trillion dollar company is because they are as ruthless as they are, MS wants all games to now be COD levels of sales so Arkane Austin and Tango need to go and so will others. Lets say MS says they have all the money and they will not fire anyone but support the studios even after their games failed, stockholders would go crazy and this would lower the MS stock price, high level executives would be fired instantly. If Nadella went to Spencer and told him to fire employees and shut down studios to make the numbers go up and Spencer or anyone else said no, we have all the money and these studios are valuable, then that xbox executive would be fired and another would be brought it to do the firing.

Speaking of Indie games one game I highly recommend that just dropped for $20 is Crow Country which is a love letter to classic Silent Hill and Resident Evil. I have it downloaded on my Xbox Series X and have been enjoying it non stop. It’s available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.
How does it not work in Japan?
They made me mad long ago and I sold all of my PlayStations. Gave them another chance with Stellar blade and look what they did with it. They don’t seem to care about gamers at all. I will be selling the ps5 soon if the censorship is not removed. I will never be back but rather will game on pc after that. My Ps plus is already cancelled. Pc gamers will never be pushed around like they do console gamers who have no choices. We can do without Sony on Steam no problem. There will never be a ps5 account tied to my Steam account. I have a lifetime of games already on Steam. They run far better than ps5 versions.

Man why are both of these gaming companies/publishers racing to the bottom to see who could do the more bonehead move?
It cost money to set up infrastructure in places where there may not be a stable way to do so. I'm not going to pretend like they can just set up shop so everyone can suddenly play. The refunds were being issued by the vendors since they were worried about people in those specific countries, not the rest of the world. If people really want then to play in those other places, then find a way to support them with establishing a network that they can play over.

I really hope that this pushes Sony to going back to just focusing on the console gamers. PC gamers dont mind doing whatever it takes to play any other game except one from Playstation. The main people arguing about regions are people that dont even live in those regions and can create an account. I say dont give them anything if they hate the rules but want the games.

As someone who just plays games on PS5, I feel like I'm eating well. There doesn't feel like any lack of games. Just finished RE4 and LOU Remake. Playing Stellar Blade then will get to Robocop or Dead Space Remake next. By the time I'm done with those, hopefully Spiderman 2 or Rise of the Ronin will be on sale. I'm curious about FF7 Remake also to see if I can get into it.
Sony needs that PC revenue as the cost of games have gone up and they no longer get that free money from COD. They got to do what they got to do to open up to that base. I'm not sure the blowback is worth it. Those gamers are never happy. They're mad you sold them a game they need to make an account for, then get mad when you don't sell them the game at all. Maybe just release single player games on PC only. If they want to play online games, tempt them to buy a PS5 or PS5 Pro when it releases.
I don't feel like any of these news affected me negatively at all, just observing. In fact, I'm kind of curious if xbox will release more games on PS now. That would be sweet for me, but understand it's a downer for the xbox guys. They're seeing their system go bye bye, but xbox has always been dead. Stellar Blade censorship made big news, but I haven't even unlocked any outfits yet except for one and it looks good. Would I like to see the outfits censored in Stellar Blade return, sure. I wish there was a nude skin for every female character in my video games like those pc mods. I actually created a lot of celebrity female wrestlers in WWE 2K that look like they're nude. It's awesome, but a pipe dream. Just be happy we got the game instead of a sweet baby approved title where the the female looks like a dude in a wig. I think the Don Mattrick approach is suitable for this controversy. If you really want to see the goods, there's alway the internet.
