Few precisions: the shutter count is sometimes not available on photos data, like on Panasonic devices, where you need to check the shutter count via a weird manipulation.
Second thing, the "announced" shutter count is a very low estimation of what your camera can do, in reality more than half of cameras can go up to twice that amount.
You're absolutely right. Thanks for your comment!
My Nikon D4 Shutter count is around 5Million and it's still work pretty well even i still use it for brrrt brrrt.
I hope repairing will be cheaper than replacing the whole body.
Good thing is modern camera can use electronic shutter which doesn’t wear the shutter but could cause problems with different lights.
But as far as i love my camera, it’s a tool for me, so I’m not gonna lose a shot just to spare it.
I’m thankful for everything in the universe aligning to recommending me this video 😭🙏🏼
My Nikon d810 has 600.000 and still running smoothly.
I've just checked what my canon r7 can do, approx 200,000
It's safe to say as an amateur photographer I should be good for a few years. But I do like my high speed shooting, the photos are pants but it sounds so cool and I feel like a pro 😅😂
You are a pro!
I had D3s with 1+ milion
If you have magic lantern you can also add the shutter count
I’m assuming You do know that magic lantern could potentially ruin your camera.😢
Though I have two cameras that I have used it on and neither have had any problems.😅
@@paulschwartz6916 I've used on three cameras and the rust doesn't seem to be that high
Already Started using electronic shutter if situation permit, at least using less mechanical shutter 20-30% than its supposed to.
Not with my Z8. 1 month with me and i put 30k clicks to it. Purely electronic makes shuttercount utterly useless
Saw one on eBay with 640.000 5d mk iii
Try half a million for Sony
Not every camera supports this website
That's why I said "a website LIKE this". I can't do everything for you 🤣
Canon and Nikon are difficult, but pentax , etc....... is there , alot of models are, check my shutter
count has alot of different model camera's it checks📸👊💯 including canon and Nikon.
While I was looking for a used Canon 60D on ebay people were selling Cameras that had 170k Shots or even more and still were expensive asf
I bought a used A7RIV from MPB for about $500 off MSRP and I was shocked to see it only has 800 shots on the shutter. It was practically new
No way! You got the deal of a lifetime. Lucky mfer I envy you.
I still don't understand why it was ever a HIDDEN thing that required external software to see?
And then there are some cameras that don't have a mechanical shutter since they don't need one. Most cameras have one though and what really bugs me is the cameras I have do not have silent shutter as an option so the mechanical shutter ALWAYS gets used even if it isn't needed. My mirrorless camera is the same way.
But when you use silent shooting mode there's no shutter count 😌
Thank You!
That is why electronic shutter is good😅
Does the e shutter count too when we upload the pic to that website?
@@RaidenShogun_CookingChannel
I don't think so
I have a canon t3i and used magic lantern to check the shutter count it is rated for 100k shutter actuations and mine is at 67k already, I did use it for multiple Timelapses which all had an average of 1-2k pictures each so that raised the shutter count pretty quickly. 😢
Does using the electronic shutter also increase the mileage?
Why do reputable UK camera websites like MPB and wexphotovideo not list the shutter count?
Does this work for film?
I want to buy a Used Sony A7 .i have a friend in canada but i don't know how to select a good one beacause i am not in canada .
I've got Sony's A7 the first one and i only have 8555 shutter counts according to PIE.
Canon 6d 1,5 million photos on one shutter and still going, canon r6 35k and repair needed
I can’t check the shutter count of canon 600d
Unless it's Canon..
What about the z8/z9 which doesn’t have a shutter
Yep. In which case, this of course wouldn't apply.
it doesn't work for photos taken by canon cameras
There are other websites. If you Google it you'll find a bunch of websites, all free to use.
@@TomCalton actually I did search, but i didn't find any website, apparently it has its own app that only service centers have access to.
Terrible misinformation... first off... on mirrorless cameras every manufacturer counts shutter counts different... some do count electronic shutter fires as a shutter fire... some don't... some include recording minutes as a function of shutter count actuations some don't.... some don't even have a mechanical shutter anymore.... nor is the shutter count any indication of how well the camera was treated... have multiple Canon 5D IV for studio use and all of them well above 500k... all working fine... had a camera i took on assignment to north africa and the shutter count was 3000 when the shutter started failing
Like the mileage of a car. Some breakdown at a lower mileage some don't.
It just shows how much the car has been used in its life. It's a good basis when buying secondhand gear.
What about... Stacked sensors
what would it matter? The shutter is a physical courtain has nothing to do with the sensor... Nikon doesn't even have a shutter anymore... this video might've been relevant 15 years ago
@@LoFiAxolotlit’s still relevant as there’s like 3 cameras on the market with good enough electronic shutter to not use the mechanical shutter. The sensor readout on stacked sensors is much faster therefore most people won’t need the mechanical shutter as much. Mechanical shutters will still be around for awhile. Electronic shutters still suck.
@@LoFiAxolotl Nikon doesn’t have a mechanical shutter anymore? 👀
The staked sensor are better for faster readouts so u could use your electronic shutter more than in a camera without a staked sensor. So it will spare your mechanical shutter.
The electronic shutter could have some problem in non staked sensors with some light sources.
@@patrickk908Idk about all Nikons, but the Z9 doesn't have a physical shutter.
Shh, don't speak of such things. Hopes and prayers are all that hold together some of my old cameras. The ostrich approach is easier.
What about when buying brand new but 5 years old released mirrorless like A6400 (2019)
Will it also have high no. Of shutter count when buying brand new in 2023 from official store??????
Lol are you hearing what you’re saying? Brand new cameras aren’t used. No it will have a shutter count of zero unless it’s used. It doesn’t matter what the cameras release date is. It’s not like they make the camera on the release date only and then it just sits on the shelf from then on. It’s not like the company continues to produce that same camera everyday since the release date or anything….
@@mrwashur1991 just tell me one thing if I but a6400 in October 2023 .... when would it have been made in factor ? I mean like how long back ??
I am new to cameras so I have very less knowledge
Your question is weird. You already said brand new. Meaning it's unused.
Meaning it won't have a shutter count yet. As said in the video it's like the mileage of a car, it shows how much the car has travelled. Surely a brand new car has not been used to travel a mile yet. Even if that car is an old model. You got the meaning of "New"?
