Well the world has never been so very small,
Though they say there's not enough to feed us all.
So you better save a nickel while you can,
But it needn't come from someone else's hand.
Just take a little extra every day,
For honest work deserves an honest pay.
You can tell the world you did it by yourself,
But there's someone you must thank for all his help:
YOU GOTTA GIVE THE BUTCHER HIS SHARE.
YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE BELIEVE HE ISN'T THERE.
YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE BELIEVE YOU JUST RECEIVE WHAT'S ONLY FAIR,
THAT NO ONE HAS TO SUFFER TO KEEP YOU IN YOUR CHAIR,
BUT YOU GOTTA GIVE THE BUTCHER HIS SHARE.
Let's take a walk around the old bazaar
Where every little thing has traveled far.
Every pair of pants and grain of rice
Contains a horror story in its price:
A story of the power people wield,
A story about factories and fields,
Of which you'll never have to be aware,
Just as long as the butcher gets his share
YES YOU GOTTA GIVE THE BUTCHER HIS SHARE,
NO MATTER WHAT YOU BUY OR WHAT YOU WEAR.
CAUSE NO ONE EVER SAID THE DISTRIBUTION WOULD BE FAIR.
THERE'S BLOOD AND GUTS ENCODED IN THE VALUE OF THE WARE,
BUT YOU GOTTA GIVE THE BUTCHER HIS SHARE.
So here's another soldier on the train.
You hope you won't be seeing him again.
You tell yourself "my god, he looks so young."
And you find that you are staring at his gun.
And you wonder what this soldier does for fun.
And you wonder 'bout the things he might have done.
Well he was doing them for people just like you.
So you'd better give the butcher his due.
YOU GOTTA GIVE THE BUTCHER HIS DUE,
CAUSE YOU'RE LUCKY THAT IT'S HIM INSTEAD OF YOU,
WHO DOES THE DIRTY THINGS YOU HOPE YOU'LL NEVER HAVE TO DO,
AND HAS TO KEEP HIS FILTHY LITTLE FINGERS OUT OF VIEW,
SO YOU BETTER GIVE THE BUTCHER HIS DUE.
You can build yourself a garden,
You can cover it in green.
But my dear, I beg your pardon,
How do you keep your little fingers clean?
Now you don't have to rally round a flag.
You may as well salute a dirty rag.
And this isn't a defense of evil deeds,
It's just a little a song about our needs.
Our need to feel enlightened and secure,
And civilized and rational and pure,
To feel that we are decent, good, and nice,
Just as long as the butcher gets his price.
YOU GOTTA GIVE THE BUTCHER HIS PRICE,
NO MATTER WHAT YOU THINK OF HUMAN RIGHTS.
YOU GOTTA GIVE THE BUTCHER HIS LOT,
FOR BEING EVERYTHING YOU THINK YOU'RE NOT.
YOU GOTTA GIVE THE BUTCHER HIS SHARE,
NO MATTER HOW YOU SAY YOU REALLY CARE.
'CAUSE HE'S THE ONE WHO DID THE STEALING
AND THEN NAMED YOU AS THE HEIR,
WHOSE FILTHINESS PROVIDED YOU THE PRIVILEGES YOU BEAR,
YOU GOTTA GIVE THE GIVE THE BUTCHER HIS SHARE. - Hudba

What an aesthetic experience combined with proactive political commentary with bursts of moving poetry! What a pearl!
Absolutely
I think that was quotes from Marx
@@cookingwithtool159 Yeah, it's direct quotes from Das Kapital.
More music videos need to scroll quotes from 'Capital.'
I'm impressed that you guys decided to make a song out of Capital, but it worked out pretty good.
Pah, typical Leninist - doesn't even know his Marx! ;) The quotes are actually from Zur Kritik Der Politschen Ökonomie, not Das Kapital.
@@Owlpunk The subscript to Das Kapital is "Kritik der politischen Ökonomie" and it says they're from capital in the description. Call me crazy, but......
@@Owlpunk This form of bragging about how you are smarter than other socialists is just another form of sectarianism.
@@AodhMacAuliffe You say this like sectarianism is a bad thing. Leninists need us, but we don't need the Leninists. They put ethnic minorities, homosexuals and many other oppressed groups to death, and we're not taking that lying down!

So glad I found y'all. Our time will come comrades; be impatient! Agitate, Organize, Strike!
thanks joey j you are my spirit animal
Agitate, Educate, Innoculate (against the bosses' threats), Organize, Unionize.
I have been called troublesome, pushy, aggressive, and with every sneer and jeer I organize even harder. Its a year on since I swore on my grandmothers grave I wouldnt sit by and let people die old broken and poor so long as I have breath in my lungs.
Now our union is growing by the day and a massive 20,000 worker strike is on the horizon! Si se puede comrades!

I love what you've got here! I've been working my way through your playlist and I'm really, really enjoying it. I agree with other comments, this would make a great musical. Thank you for sharing with us.
15th time listening through. Holy fuck is this good
Do you guys ever play in the UK? I need more lefty klezmer concerts in my life
Would travel to the UK to see them!
@@silverkitty2503 Same. I would travel anywhere to these these guys!
ellecram on there website they have a thing saying where theyre going to be playing. Theyre based in germany and play around hamburg iirc
yall ever notice how alot of comments are sometimes just incomprehensible? like this has nothing to do with the song or this comment section but just youtube in general, like they'll say shit like "AINT NOT PLANET X COMING CAUSE AINT NO SPACE AINT NO GLOBE EARTH" And think "yes this means something" its kinda like how you have monkeys in front of a keyboard and they type out Shakespeare eventually, except they dont and its just perpetually incomprehensible gibberish.
True! I always see this, and 50,000 replies that are like "what? Huh?" Or "HELL YEAH BROTHER JESUS TOLD ME TOO BROTHER 5 G GOBBIES ARE BREAKING INTO OUR POORS AND TAKING ADRENOCHROME KNOWLEDGE" like what? Is this reality? Are my political opponents A.I. generated schizo posts?
Bounced on my boys dick to this comment
that particular quote about planet x is from the youtube channel "Internet Comment Etiquette" video, one of the conspiracy theory ones. the actual quote from the comment featured is "AINT NOT PLANET X COMIN CAUSE AINT NO SPACE CAUSE AINT NOT GLOBE EARTH", it's a longform reference to his channel. so is "bounced on my boy's dick to this for hours", random images of shirtless old men (obviously you won't see those in youtube comments), and a few others less common these days. it's actually a pretty good channel, he played a pretty big role in getting Alex Jones taken down by focusing on the insane racism of the infowars channel rather than the stuff that's easy to make fun of.
I remember hearing you play this song live -- so glad it's recorded now. On my way to purchase and encourage others to do so.
"Production creates the consumer"
an example off the top of my head would be women's shaving products. They made the products, convinced the target consumers they needed them and then sat back and profited.
I dont know if that's the best example, since hear removal is a cultural aspect of many cultures since Sumer.
I would have gone with luxury items, cars, bottled water, and labels etc.
@@MrChillerNo1 exactly
A better example may be the various commercials used to convince people of the romantic nature of diamonds.

@@MrChillerNo1it’s the fact that they used pre existing demographics (women) to create a new category of a prexisting product, which they could charge more for and market more effectively towards, and profit, despite there not being a material difference between men and women’s razors in terms of function

I am about to start streaming a queer friendly, anarchist themed dungeons and dragons campaign on twitch that is largely inspired by y'all's work. I would love to include your music in certain key moments if you would be fine with that. Thank you for your wonderful work! I am trying to learn some Yiddish too lol. I know some German so the change isn't too hard.
My goal with the project is to create a fund raising platform from twitch donations that I can then funnel into mutual aid like food banks. I will then use those write offs to create more donations than income, brining my taxable income to zero so I can assure myself that none of my labor is used to create war.

Demand creates its own supply.
@@dovbarleib3256 Should be but it's often not the case.
Sounds like supply side economics to me.
@@dovbarleib3256 American agriculture consistently demonstrated that supply can create a demand. Do you know why Bacon is so popular in the United States? Because the Pork Industry waged a massive advertisement campaign to create a demand for what is essentially waste meat. Bacon Mania is a perfect example of how a supply creates demand just as often as demand creates supply.
Listerine is another example. There was no demand for their floor cleaner so they rebranded it as mouth wash and invented halitosis in order to create a demand for their supply of floor cleaner rebranded as mouth wash.
I always intended for my books to become a musical. Thank you

Without getting into political philosophy, as so many others have done, please note that the title includes the word sher, not share. Sher is Yiddish for scissors, a type of traditional music/ dance.
Poster for album has Butchers share written on it.
So what's your point?
I believe it's called a "pun"
Wait i’m sorry, they just let you dance around the butchery without a hair- or beard-net?!

Yes.
Is the “Sher “ in the title Yiddish for “share”?
I think it's a wordplay on Sher, wich is a type of Yiddish dance

Lyrics are simple anecdotes about immorality of capitalism.
You can create any necessity in a dead world. Ideology, revenge and love.
Being numb, being dumb, being pretty... you name it.
Even being strong and a killer. Being good, being bright... a nationality. You name it. A psychological identity? It can be provided.
Lucifer blessed you, this is excellent.
Ofcourse, it was more joke. 😁

It´s always great to have somebody tell you what does and doesn´t have place in anarchy. So I proclaim: There´ll always be space for lucifer jokes in anarchy. :D Sue me.
Neiv Gabay I don’t think you can honestly call Teddy a sellout. He was a capitalist, although a moderate one, but he definitely never sold out. In fact, he’s probably done more to fight big business than you ever will
Even economical fallacy sounds sweet and awesome to the rhythm of good Klezmer

You wouldn't have an audience without capitalism.
You think the government would fund your little operation?!?
Corporatism and cronyism is the problem - only worsened by giving the "leaders" of government even MORE power.
? Socialism doesn't always mean the government owns the means of production. It means the WORKERS owns the means of production. Also why wouldn't he have an audience without capitalism?

@@abilitiesrehab5071 ??? What??? Your statement is making less sense. First of all no, they wouldn't need goverenment approval to play that is just ridiculous. Secondly workers owning the means of production has worked. What about Yugoslavia which had workers self management? No government control there. And what about anarchist society's like the Zapatistas? There have been plenty of instances in the past where workers not the state have owned the means of production.
