- I picked up this 1972 Mercury Marquis from a guy who bought it off of Derek from @ViceGripGarage. I wasn't really sure what to do with it until it dawned on me that the car would actually make a great truck! So, we build the Mercury version of the Ranchero!

@@frenchiestfry8116 I like angus but I don’t really see Luke and angus being comparable, they are nothing alike. Angus is help because Kevin has enough content to make now he needed more hands, and he finally convinced angus to work with him, Luke left once Kevin started moving away from doing revivals for fun and looking at it more as a job. (Kevin himself has changed from the early days to once it became a job)
I still like it and watch him and am subscribed but it did use to be better in the early days.
I consider Kevin, Luke, Derek some of the OG revival guys on CZcams, before revivals took off

Hes funny and entertaining to watch, Luke did have his moments but even on the videos they shared on both jyd and th289, Kevin was usually the one making the content comedic/fun to some extent. I mean theres a reason why jyd channel blew up compared to Luke's. Plus, on a completely different note, i like to think junk yard digs is a "professional"ish version of pole barn garage, or at least less sketch lmao i love both channels and am excited to see new videos, especially when they colaborate

You took a car with no real value anymore and turned it into a truck. Now the truck still has no real value, but the shock and awe of said truck is worth something. As always, super entertaining and a neat project. Good job!

I agree, but if he and his father don't start wearing some sort of dust Mask or respirator when they sand fiberglass & body filler they won't live long enough to make lots of 1 hour entertaining videos. Not trying to Poop on anyone's parade, just being thoughtful.
Brakes and some coil overs in the back and 1 more hubcap. Shes a keeper. I cant believe it either how well that turned out... You are magic sir.
Better yet, get the air suspension working - or retrofit some modern airbags - so you can adjust based on the load in the back. Some of those longer-travel bump-stops would help, too.
At first I was feeling nauseated, but then I started to like it, and then I thought it was kinda cool! And the color is great, the custom faux vinyl top even better. Amazing!

With all the talk about how poorly these were assembled from the factory you at least gotta admit that whoever made that rear window glass did a hell of a job with it surviving all that hammering and slamming around like it did. Also as an Australian, I'm pretty sure every single car needs to be ute'd, they're just better!

Father and son Car Butchery, senior edition. This one was great. I like it too! Take a random guess on some inappropriate truck springs for the back, fix up the air-ride and tweak the mechanicals and it'll be a real TRUCK. A practical, usable TRUCK. Because we like TRUCKS. Don't worry about the crack in the side, it's just the body breaking itself in (half).

I used one of the purple hobo freight guns on my high school era mud truck. I completely disassembled it, and cleaned it with mineral spirits before use. After that I mixed my $40 gallon of rustoleum with mineral spirits 2 to 1 plus a hint of hardener. Was my first paint job, and didn’t have a single run on top of laying out like glass with zero orange peel, besides a thin spot I had on the tailgate where my cup ran out.

I was kinda,in love with the '72 Merc Grand Marquis or the Grand Narc car but I'll tell you what Dalton if you put a truck floor with an operating tailgate so that I could slide sheets of drywall in it to drive home and if you want the 460 for your Toriino that's fine drop a 390 in it and ill take it so those 3 fixes flat floor with beads flowing to tailgate that operates including water flow out the back so I can spray it out and operating tailgate and I'll take it if not that's OK too you have a great mind to use it instead of letting it sit and rust into the ground!! Oh and you should call it McCommanchero lol Commanchero is a real name !! Mc is for the paint scheme if you had added a touch more orange you would have had Ford racing yellow lol You have inspired me to try Harbor freight guns with this one on my own Hot Rod !!

Beautiful!! it helps to turn off all the shop lites after the paint is on and turn on a light on far end of shop, that way bugs dont die in your paint as it dries. I think maybe some painted panels on the side or WOOD GRAIN! like a 70s Ranchero. The Muse clearly was with you on this one>

Dalton I definitely love your ingenuity that you have made for sure buddy!!! I definitely think it needs one more thing to help it be able to haul more stuff!!! You definitely need to get some air bag helpers so that it doesn’t sag so much when you have her all loaded down!!! It would also help it handle much better if it had some air bags in it!!! Awesome build and I absolutely love it also!!!

My beautiful son Nathan died at Christmas he was only 28 and he suffered a massive heart attack I am feeling so lonely and very lost but we donated his organs to two people who I hope will have the chance of a better future.

Not welding the rear doors is not all it's "cracked up " to be 😂. I myself would have definitely used some self tappers for securing the doors for structural strength 💪. Now all you need is a 4×4 F250 and steel the entire drivetrain to make the Mercurino a real workhorse, maybe even a little lifted 😮! This will make not only for a great video, but whilst also produce more videos, like the 460 to Torino swap!!
