Replacing the radiator hoses is well worth it on old cars, and do them all if a few seem bad as they are probably the same age. Wasn't a 'vette but I had a car I replaced all the hoses expect one that was a very unique shape that I couldn't find and equivalent of (old Military 1/4" ton vehicle) so I figured that 4" long hose would probably be fine... yeah guess which hose blew out on me a few miles down the road after getting it running again. Luckily I was able to just grab some generic 1" hose from an automotive shop and extended the hose length till it fit/wasn't kinked and was on with my day (after refilling the system).

Dexcool is orange and it’s GMs coolant plus regular coolant other then Dexcool comes in different colours red , green , pink but Dexcool is orange and it’s used in GM vehicles so Pontiacs , Chevy , GMC , Saturn , Oldsmobile so on. I’ve even seen some trucks like Ford use it back in the day.

Nice Video Lyle. What would you say is a normal coolant temp for a C6 LS3 when sitting in traffic on a hot day?

Great video thanks, I was recommended to flush my radiator due to inactivity. What can i expect to pay for this type of service as well as changing the differential fluid?? Thanks in advance

Had a 97 with a little super tiny crack in the nipple I didn't see any other problem until I moved that nipple on the upper side of the reservoir tank only way to see it it was moving up and down the nipple... For you guys that don't find the leak check what I'm saying it can be your coolant leak which is super slow ..I added coolant every three weeks

I thought Dex-cool was an orange color? And I thought the red stuff was concentrated HOAT for imports (Toyota, etc) that should be diluted 50/50 into pink coolant before adding?
Also, my C4 sucked up three plastic bags, two raccoons and a coyote. Ran much cooler after clearing out that debris!

Lyle, as I'm very new in owning a Corvette and my first ever corvette being a 2004 c5 I've just done a silly thing. I'd checked the surge tank and couldn't see the level (didn't look at the front of the tank to check the level) and then went and poured in a 1/3 of a ltr of HALFORDS BLUE ANTIFREEZE not DEXCOOL. I've not started the car since doing so. Q. Will it be OK until I can get someone to flush the system (which will mean starting and running it 10 miles down the road) as I've now been and ordered 1 gallon of concentrated Dexcool and a Gallon of Distilled Water. 🇬🇧😕

It will be just fine for the short trip to the mechanic. IF, however, you have ANY reservations about it--HAVE IT FLAT-BEDDED. You will never, ever regret NOT driving the car. Lyle

@@csvette Hi Lyle, as I'm now going to get the Dexcool put back into the car, is it worth replacing the water pump, thermostat (160deg)? Mine is a 2004 with 47k miles. I've checked the service book etc and can't see that the water pump has ever been replaced or the thermostat and so presume they will be the original. Graham

@@zenelgashi Without having the car diagnosed by a professional, there is no way to know which (if any) of the many sensors could be the culprit. The car needs to go in and have a hands-on diagnosis first and foremost. Lyle
