As an adoptee, watching this whole saga unfold really hurt my heart. My brother and I are both adopted from Guatemala. My brother has a disability and I ended up with some severe mental health issues. My (adopted) parents devoted their whole lives to taking care of the two us. I'm glad he found good people in his life to be his parents, and that he's no longer with these monsters.

When I was a kid, my parents became foster parents. A boy who came to us at the age of 7 kept being sent back by upper middle-class families. They said stuff like, “He’s a good kid- but he just wasn’t in to the same things we were.” Or “We actually just changed our minds.”
After he was sent back a fourth time, my siblings and I freaked out, bawled, and told our parents that if they didn’t adopt him, we would never speak to them again. They assured us that they were already in the process of doing so. He’s been my brother for 22 years and I love him just as much as my bio siblings.
I truly believe that suburban fuckers like this couple do it for clout. When they realize that it’s a REAL person they are adopting, they send them back like a dog to the pound. SHAMEFUL.

I was listen to this podcast by Dr. Kirk Honda last week about the situation where children need to get rehomed after adoption even if families do try their hardest, because of the trauma us adoptive children (yess I was an orphan too at one point of my life) go through. The trauma can manifest in ways that harm the family severely.
He did not look into this case and stressed that he did not feel the need to do so... because he made the point that we don't know what happened in their home and we only see a small portion of everything that happened.. So I kinda tried not to go off on my past judgement of the situation..
Now that I see the footage of them again after a long time.. I'm very convinced that this was just fucked up and hurtful for that poor child.. The part where he got so happy when James Called him is buddy... It is just heartbreaking to see. I know how hard it is to trust that people love you and are here to stay after you've been abandoned.. and now for this to happen to him.. and be treated so differently from the other kids. disgusting

I have seen many kids given up on over the years like this working in youth mental facilities. Some families really just had no other option as the violence and property destruction came to a head but others essentially dumped their kids in there and rarely came through for them. I took a young man to the hospital once after self harm and his father never came to see him over the days he was there he was nonverbal and all alone other than us as his staff. Another case I had his family would say they were coming to visit and then never show. It hurts so badly to see this unfold it’s so unbelievable that parents can do this to and child but especially one that needs them so so bad.
