Fortnine recently released a video where Ryan again discusses how a motorcycle turns. He stated that a motorcycle counter steers at all speeds, not just above 15 MPH as stated in this video, but it's less noticeable at slower speeds. If so, it's much less noticeable IMO. As far as I can tell, at slow speed, pull left go left and at high speed, push left and you go right a little bit then tilt left and go left. In between is... in between. Ryan didn't discuss gyroscopic precession at all (push left and the front tire turns right at the tread contact patch but gyroscopic precession inclines the rotating wheel to the left, which causes a toroidal (curved sidewall) motorcycle tire to turn when leaned over to a smaller rolling diameter. That was the entire effect that Ryan described as being responsible for turning a motorcycle.
One thing Ryan said about turning that I agreed with is that we learn by riding. This is muscle memory developed by experience. I'm an engineer and I learn better when I understand the physics, but in this case, I don't think understanding the physics helps me steer a motorcycle. Maybe that's because I learned motorcycles before I learned physics, or maybe I still don't fully understand all of the physics. I watched a CZcams video a few years ago that explained a LOT of complicated physics of motorcycle steering. I'm convinced the physics is very complicated with multiple factors at play at the same time. It's best learned by doing.
Slow speed parking lot turns and cornering on the road use very different techniques - not just different in magnitude, but categorically different in type.
The G310GS has a lot of motor braking which helps me in the turns. I can adjust speed up or down with very delicate throttle inputs while maintaining almost all of the traction and without front braking at all. The CRF300L has a lot more engine braking... too much for my liking.
My Tip: If you get in trouble, lean more. Most of us aren't operating anywhere near the cornering limits of traction, and that's a good thing. We need the safety margin. We never know when we'll realize once we're in a sharp turn that it's off camber. Of course, it's also possible that some idiot spread fine gravel all over the off camber turn. That's the one time leaning more won't save you. Too many riders love canyon carving so much that they'll succumb to normalcy bias. If they did a turn at 55 MPH, the next time they'll try 56. Then 57. There is an upper limit and they find it by wrecking. I'll never understand that mentality. Maybe on the track, but never on the road.
I'd always ridden small dual sport bikes and the G310GS has much nicer road manners. I've very much enjoyed riding it on the back roads. I'm about to put some much more off road oriented Kenda Big Block or Shinko 804/805 tires on it and I'm sure I'll sacrifice some of that nice smooth road cornering.

I actually watched that video but I didn't agree with the countersteer before making a turn at slow speeds. I like you probably don't notice. I fully agreed with just leaning doesn't do anything you have to countersteer as well. as far as getting on the edge I think it has to do with gravity and pushing the motorcycle opposite therefore creating the lean on the tires. but what do I know lol. thanks as always for watching, I appreciate it!

Hi I bought it on Amazon and made the additional brackets. I have a video on it called how to mount a.gps. thanks for watching and consider subscribing.

I have not heard anything, but with all the 400s coming out. I don't think it will be long. my guess is something a little bigger than 400. thanks for watching!
