I believe that the only way to treat depression is to raise more and more awareness about mental health. People have a stigma about mental health, specially in the rural areas and also in educated families where it is so called bad to take help from a psychologist. Also I think that to uproot the stigma about mental health, some programmes should be held in schools too. I am in class 12 and it is quite stressful to deal with the expectations of the bars you set for yourself. This stress creates anxiety because of which I become afraid to give exams and I start giving up on my studies. I understand this but in the situation, it's tough to cope.

I have both biology and psychology as my subjects in class 12 so understanding it is very interesting. This interview is very knowledgeable and eye opening to me.

Deepika is really great. However, the way she ask questions creates confusion in terms of what she exactly wants to ask. Anyway, more power to you DEEPIKA. LOVE YOU!

I agree. Some tasks are better left to the experts and interviewing is an art too. I guess the foundation aims at highlighting Ms. Padukone's role but she is already there given her contribution to establishing the foundation and raising awareness by sharing her own experiences with the condition, which in my opinion is commendable. A learned scholar like Dr. Mukherjee could have been interviewed by someone who closely understands the nuances of the multifarious aspects of mental health, locally and globally, both as a researcher as well as an experienced practitioner in the field. Kindly consider it as a humble suggestion. Thanks.

I'm not sure he's the right person to be discussing depression with. Modern medical science do have very inefficient model of the brain. I personally feel depression is something to do with the mind which medical science does not define.

Depression is also a biochemical process by which our harmonal balance gets disturbed. So it has everything to do with medical science & also sharing it with right person helps a lot .
