This is so refreshing. I can safely say that Deepika Padukone is one of the most elegant and poised actresses in the Indian film industry. She has good manners of putting her point out, whether she is angry or upset or happy, she always expresses herself in a dignified manner. Let us also applaud the questions asked in this interview(whether or not written by Anupama Chopra herself). This has been one of her best interviews. This is for the people in comment section. Deepika is the most non diplomatic and very honest person you can get...you know why ... 1. she is not that intelligent. 2. She finds it difficult to articulate her thoughts. But she is a humble person. And it’s not wrong to not be smart. It’s ok.
Uyare was a Malayalam film on the same topic. Not only did Parvathy take the plunge to do such a risky role before Deepika, the whole film seems way more subtle and realistic than chhapaak (based on the trailer). Particularly the scene where both these actresses look into the mirror after the attack for the first time - Parvathy’s reaction was subtle, not the dramatic scream Deepika put forth. The prosthetics were more realistic in Uyare too, the entire movie was brilliant. I wish a fraction of the respect Bollywood receives is given to regional cinema. Chhapaak is not even released yet but people are already singing its praises? Unbelievable

She has limited acting skills and his damn overrated thanks to her being a part of strong author backed roles supported by excellent cast which unmasked her inability deftly . I would like to see a fabulous actress like Richa Chadda /Sanya Malhotra/Radhika Madan /Shwetha Tiwari in this role. Alas , Bollywood is all about money and in a country which celebrates mediocrity Deepika has the potential to pull in the crowd
I'm sure the film is going to be great...but here Deepika says Meghna never expected her to say yes to the film so quickly...I find this very self-aggrandizing...she's trying to make it seem like "Meghna was probably under the impression that I was a very shallow woman who would only do films that showcase her beauty, but she was surprised to realize that I'm actually a very sensitive and deep person who doesn't care about looks"
Mayb you reading too much. It is because she took a year break from doing movies because of her health issues and usually actress making comeback don't choose risky films. Meghna herself said she wasn't sure if she will do it or not.

Deepika talks about this in Rajeev Masand's interview that actors are craving for directors with such stories to come to them. Directors don't feel that the actor will agree to their film because of roles they done previously but that's because directors are not coming to them. For example, if Varun Dhawan didn't do Badlapur, people would never take him seriously considering the rest of the movies he has done (except October)
R. V. Deepu I totally agree with you, I felt the exact same way. I don't understand how other people who listen to this woman speak don't realise or understand exactly what she's saying. For the most part, she finds it difficult to look past (and speak past) herself.

I’m from bangalore & I’ve been following her journey, ever since her first debut film (a Kannada film) which she never talks about.. I’ve seen her shed boyfriends including yuvraj singh, and then cry about being cheated by ranbir kapoor.. she never raises her voice for anybody or stands up for anybody in the industry, except when her film padmavat was in the eye of the political storm .. and nobody supported her, she fought it alone! she encouraged the paparazzi to call out the Americans for being “Racist” just because they mistook her to be Priyanka Chopra.. it was a case of mistaken identity on their part!

The trailer was so disappointing, Deepika's acting is looking so superficial. Parvathy gave such a moving performance in uyare . Akansha Kapoor I disagree, Uyare is as much of a commercial masala film (not denying that it was good/moving in bits and pieces) as chapak may turn out to be. Flying a plane without a license , don’t you think that’s too much? As far as Parvathy’s performance goes - I found it overly dramatic/theatrical (but that’s just my opinion).
It's very weird that she never makes an eye contact while speaking. Looks down at the floor all the time. Honestly the trailer was very average considering the topic at hand. Deepika is highly overrated and also they've taken such a sensitive topic and seemed to have Bollywood-ised it instead of making it hit-you-in-the-gut realistic like Meghna Gulzars Talvar probably.

I too have become fairer from my teenage and early 20s. It's lack of vitamin D, staying indoors, using sunscreen. Just even putting compact powder on face and facing the light source. And I stay completely away from any whitening products.
