    Had a Ford in today stuck in limp mode - only running on the 2 middle cylinders, Peter. It has been everywhere & had 101 parts shot at it. I believe to date it has had well (well) over 2k of parts & who know what labour charges to no avail. Only relevant code from any of the previous messers is "Injector 4 wiring short circuit". It got 4 new injectors at 400 snots a piece, for example... no workey..
    Didn't bother using any scanner as the car has been scanned to death everywhere already to no avail. Instead I drew out the injector wiring diagram "IRL" on a bit of cardboard by tracing the actual wires using a multi-meter/test light, took off the ECU, verified all the wiring was intact from the ECU out, then checked the pins on the ECU - which showed that the ECU was shorted internally on injector control circuits 1 & 4.. Which are the injectors that don't work... Roish... I opened the ECU for a Goo at the board - sure enough there was crustiness inside on the relevant traces, they sure look shorted - which is a 200 quid repair. Not the 2-3k the guy has already forked out for garbage..
    "Practicality" often beats even the highest high tech when it comes to faults. Like with this boom-box ^.

      Good old common sense detective work. If you're looking for someone's killer, it's always the last person to see them....literally

      Well done James, I often say it in my videos. Just use a little bit of common sense & it sure does help. And you my man use it in abundance 💪💪💪
      As you said quite a few guys were beaten by this one & you brought it to a head.
      No bother to you 👏👏👏

    It's always a bonus when there are no unexpected complications. This job can be hard enough without the added stress. Cheers mate

    at my work i use a bosch kts diagnostic tool... changing theese are pretty straight forward with a bosch kts.... dont tried any other diagnostic tools... connect the bosch diag and "save the software/programing" from clockspring ecu in the bosch diag... change the clockspring assembly.... and "download" the programing/software in the new clockspring.... total time saving-changing-download is about 20 minutes...

      That sounds straight forward, it is something that I haven’t ever done. Thanks mate 😉🙏🙏

    “Fart arsin’” 😂 but the thing is that’s how we’re programmed…to try and make the impossible work…if it does….woohoo…if it doesn’t we’ll just spend more time and eventually buy the right part… The variety of work in your trade Peter is unbelievable..your a mechanic one minute..an electrician the next…a gas engineer the next and even a plumber at times…oh and a Hollywood director too 😊😉brilliant 👍🏻👍🏻

    I put a new clock spring in a Seat Ateca last month. It cured the air bag faults but the steering wheel controls stopped working. Long story short I had tried everything but had to pay a chap with VAG software to code it. The car was only four years old so I thought I’d mention that the later stuff will need coding. What age was the Skoda Peter?

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281  Před rokem +1

      My one was 2013 but I was expecting it to need to be coded too. But it seems to have had the same coding which is a bonus in my case. Whey hey 😊😊
      They done make them easy though 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️
      Thanks Trevor 🙏🙏

    Hello! I have the same problem with a 2011 Yeti. I only changed the airbag guide from E to AL end. it is programmed, but unfortunately it still doesn't work. The steering switches also need to be replaced, only then will it be good? VCDS error code: Airbag: 9437211 B1000 Steering wheel error code: 365080 U108E 00 The error phenomenon is the same airbag error, there is no horn and none of the multi-steering wheel buttons work. Can you help?

      It can be very hard to guide someone without seeing the car.
      But you have similar issues but you haven’t replaced the clock spring, is that correct??

    Great video it helped me so much but after I installed the new clock spring I got 2 messages. “Engine fault workshop” and the second one is “button for driver assistance system defective” and the epc light turned on. Can you please help me with this issue

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281  Před 10 měsíci

      Some vehicles will have different equipment set up due to various model’s etc.
      This is most likely down to the coding issue I expected to encounter at the start of the video. You will need to get a good scantool and try to get the coding from the old one, then input the coding on the new one.

      They very often go wrong Paddy. But we can only make them run off as easy as possible 😬
      The Autel is an MS909, I bought it from euro car parts & it is a really good tool. I’m getting very used to it and it is the first one I grab now which is a good sign, cheers mate 🙏🙏

    if theres one thing that bugs me is doing a job twice... i always find that when a customer (whos not mechanical minded at least) brings parts, there wrong, or a good percentage of the time... as for messing when your in there the first time, well you have to or its a wasted trip, and you never know theres a chance you can save someone a few quid... ... nice see you get a handy fix for a change tho.... hahahahaha

      It’s funny Lar, because it just happens naturally. I give that Aaaah it’s wrong & then I weigh up the options to see if I can salvage the situation 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️
      It quite often works out though, nothing ventured - nothing gained 😂😂

    The problem is mostly caused by women drivers with long hair
    The strands of hair wrap around the clock spring and subsequently breaks the wires on vw skoda audi and seat
    Cheers Peter
