    Two minute job for Rory. Two hour one for me. I am so useless at this sort of thing but I got there in the end. Thanks!

      Hi vivecaStJohn, it took Rory a lot longer than that but well done for fixing it yourself.

    After removing the door, the bolts on the inside fell off meaning that the screws will no longer bit and the door will not go back on. Is it worth taking it all apart to find them?

      On some machines there is a threaded plate behind the front that when the screws are removed can drop to the bottom of the machine. If you tip the machine back this is likely to be on the floor. Remove the door seal outer retainer as shown here: czcams.com/video/3IqArUKDLYE/video.html
      Then peal back the door seal from the front. You can then hold the plate in position while you screw the hinge in place. After fitting follow the other video for reattaching the door seal.

    Hiya! I've just replaced the glass on our washing machine and Im afraid I placed the bowl upside down... Does it matter? Now we are running a test-wash and seems all right so far :) Any ideas? Can I leave it this way or maybe it's better to put the glass as its "advertised". Thanks for the help guys

      +Zoltán Hosnyánszki The glass is 'shaped' to help any washing to be pushed away from the door seal into the drum. This is especially important with a full load on spin as clothes may rub on the seal and cause damage to clothing as well as the seal itself. We would advise you refit it in the correct orientation.

    i have noticed a small chip on my wm door glass from outside , should i be worried it is the size of a RICE Grain ? thank you

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  Před 7 lety

      Marks on the door glass are likely to be either impact damage (from items striking and chipping the glass), Manufacturing defects (small as you described but no sharp edge) or from contact with the lip of the inner drum (gouges around the inside). If the damage is from contact with the drum watch another video: czcams.com/video/uKBy-9NEF5A/video.html
      If from impact it may have weakened the glass and could fail so we would suggest to replace it.

    are the glass bowls machine specific or can you use any of the correct size?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  Před 8 lety

      Often manufacturers may use the same door glass across many models but may have several different 'sizes' depending on the load capacity of the machine.

    How do you replace the glass bowl on a Swan front load washer door?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  Před 7 lety

      Sorry Bruce, we do not have access to any Swan machines at the moment but it should be similar to dismantle the door as this machine. If there are no screws to undo around the rim it may be molded together and available as an assembly complete.

    What is the purpose of the glass bowl for a washing machine?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  Před 8 lety

      +GatoradeCrash The shape helps clothes fall into the drum and away from the seal where they could get damaged. However this shape would not necessarily need to be made from glass as long as it was resistant to scratching of zips and clips.

    Thanks for bad advice,when i unscrewed hinge screws things at the back dropped to inside of machine,now theres nothing for screws to tighten on to !!

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  Před 9 lety +2

      Hi Julian, you have not given any model information so I cannot give specific advice. However, on some machines there is a plate to take the hinge screws behind the front. This may fall on the floor and be easy to refit with the top off (remember to disconnect before work). it is important to remove the part if it has fallen in the drum as it can cause significant damage If it gets caught as the drum is spinning with a full load and can actually punch a hole in the outer drum. If the filter is at the front of the machine it may be possible to 'wash' the part into the filter and remove it. Or using a torch if you can see it under the drum remove the sump hose and use a wooden 'kebab' skewer to push through the holes and flick it to the sump hole.

      Sorry Wesley but we do say it is a Hotpoint both in the title and the video itself. 😊
