Great video, but I feel like you missed something very significant in this scene. The look of relief and happiness Scarlet Witch and Vision give to Captain America walking in the scene is so remarkable, as they were arguably the two strongest individuals on Earth at the time of this scene (Thor and Captain Marvel were off-world and Banner couldn't transform into the Hulk). It's somewhat ironic that the two Infinity Stone powered Avengers are so happy to see just a kid from Brooklyn show up in the face of two alien commanders.
That's a great point and definitely an integral part of the scene, thinking about it now I guess I wanted to focus more on Cap's entrance, his progression and what that means for the MCU as a whole but thank you for your comment nonetheless :)
When I first saw Infinity War in the cinema, the moment a shadow-shrouded figure snatches that spear out of the air was the moment the projector chose to freeze. The almost full theatre burst into groans, yelps and laughs. For minutes we waited and chatted about what had happened so far. A few teens up the front performed some surprisingly skilled shadow puppetry on the screen (maybe they spend less time online than they are accused of). Finally the projector started and we were back to the action. The initial cheer for the projectionist grew into applause for Cap. Even without the delayed gratification, I would have loved that scene for all the reasons you offer. Also, it brings back the trio of Steve, Nat and Sam that worked so well in Winter Soldier (possibly my favourite MCU movie). Afterwards we were given complimentary tickets in apology for the fault. I spent mine on seeing Infinity War a second time. ;)
hahahah, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I've also had a similar problem during the "captain's orders" standoff in Winter Solider where the image went out and all we could hear were gunshots :)
I have not seen a single person who didn't like Cap's new look tbh 😅 Steve is really good at epically walking out of the shadows, too, he does it in the last scene of Civil War as well. Great analysis of this scene, especially in regards to the music!
one small thing you missed: The stupendous buildup to the reveal. The fight is going badly, Wanda has that moment of gathering energy in both her hands, in what is clearly a "Last stand" moment. And then a train goes by. And yeah, it's a train station, you'd expect it to, but all the characters turn to look at it, as if drawn to it. It's just a train, but it's like there's some cosmic power, some latent energy of badassness that just makes them unable to look away, as the train cars whiz by and you catch just slight glimpses of the figure behind it, until it's finally gone, and you see his silhouette. And you just know it's him, you can see it in the posture, the shoulders. the fact that Proxima then decides to yeet her spear right at him instead of continuing her fight just speaks to the aura that Cap seems to project in every scene. He catches the spear almost lazily, and then finally, yes, that fucking beautiful slow walk out of the shadows. it's a beautiful moment all on it's own, but I feel like that buildup really deserved a mention, as it's always the part that I appreciate the most on rewatches
Great video and I couldn't agree with you more. The scene makes me well up because of the emotion, relief and sheer joy at seeing his reappearance. The choreography of the following action as Falcon and Widow make their moves interweaved with the beats of the Avengers theme is literal perfection. It also manages to convey how well of an oiled machine they have become during their enforced absence as the three of them combine together with psychic precision to form one cohesive fighting unit that embarrasses a couple of off world aliens that have been besting two of the Avengers strongest characters (Wanda & Vision). No mess, no fuss, just kicking arse and coming to the rescue like solid heroes. This, and Thor's incredible entrance on Wakanda, are the real 'jump out of your seat and punch the air' while tears well up in your eyes moments.
"This is the most dramatic visual change to the character" Eye Patch Short Hair Thor: Am I a joke to you?!? Great Video tho. The other essayists have mentioned people flock to the MCU "not for the fights but the quick breaths inbetween." This scene is definitely top tier.

theory. seem eboney maul sickle thing kills anything cut. not sure destroyed keep. think turned into eboney sword black Knight first uses. said sword thirst blood. when start kill people cain't stop. fact cut vision skin even phased. make think some magic too it or something. cool see more heroes around world entering MCU though knight sword curse seem odd with fact cut through anything. so use mean if acidentley cut some one turn bad guy.
