This is one of the worst highway accidents I have seen since I came to Canada over two decades ago. It was close to home and the way it happened was completely terrifying. One of the worst case scenarios I had imagined while driving in these fast roads had come to fruition and again, very close to home. What I can't understand is how the police engaged in a pursuit against traffic on a freeway. I can't simply understand that. My deepest sympathies to the families.

Higher speeds reduce congestion because the fast cars get way ahead and the slow cars stay to the side. Both free up lanes. (well, up until you get to a busy offramp) I doubt the city planned for people driving british style down the wrong side of the road though
