  • In this episode I will explain what I dislike about the Apple AirPods and why I went out and got the Jabra Elite 65t to replace them. Both are True Wireless Earbuds with charging cases. The Jabra 65t looks better, has more functions and sounds better.

    I used the jabras for 1 year, I’ve used the AirPods for about a week. Jabras have better sound with an actual seal. Airpods allow me to use each bud independently. I like both of them for different reasons and I will continue to use both of them since I have multiple needs. Via an iPhone user

    I bought a Jabra Elite Active 65t last year and i have never reget it. That was my first time buying an expensive earbud 😂. But that was worth it! It is perfect for me. I wear it all the time during workout and it never fall off my ear. I have no problem with the rubber earbud tho. And also ive no problem with the case being popped open easily since i’ve never droped it 😅.
    I hate the airpods they looked ugly. Lol. I’m glad i didn’t buy it.

      At least on my copy, you can not just flick it open with your thumb like I can on the Airpods. They seem to have a tab that tries to keep it shut. Pushing on the sides makes it much easier to open with a flick of the thumb.

    I just returned a set of Jabra Elite 65t's. They sound great and do look very nice. Audio sounded pretty fair. But when speaking into the mic on a phone call, the other party heard my voice and although it was fairly clear, it sounded as though a digital audio special effect had been added. A Phase shifting or a sort of Flanger effect. (popular electric guitar effects) I believe this is related to the passive style of noise reduction used. With all of the microphones and the phase relationship to the speaker, this is where I think the problem is. I agree about the rubber ear fits. Overall I give the Jabra 65t a 3.5. I have not tried the Apple earpods. I only use apple products that have been thrown in the trash. I repaired a laptop recently. Not bad for free. The Jabras do look very nice. I may try the 75t Actives.

    Sometimes it looks like Apple is trying to test how loyal are their customers by making stupid products like those earbuds, and funny enough, their customers are pretty stupidly loyal if they decide to buy this earbuds that looks like a cheap 3$ earphones for that amount of money while having so many great products on the market.

    I usually don't comment on review videos , but i felt this time that this review was actually honest, and made by a "real person" and not some CZcams over-energized-clearly-sponsored persona . Most of the reviews regarding the topic on CZcams tend to be kind of bias towards the apple airpods . personally i use apple products , but i always disliked their earbuds ... they always sound average (minus) and they never fit right ! so thank you for this honest review :)

      I know. I really want the Bose Quiet Comfort 35s or probably even higher on my wish list is the Sony WH1000XM2. I keep hoping I will find either of them on some sort of flash sale on Amazon or Best Buy. So far, no luck and I just can afford to be buying expensive headphones just for fun. Maybe someone in Ottawa who has a pair can contact me and I can bring them on the channel and compare them to some of the other Headphones I already have. I'm sure I would be thoroughly impressed.

    • @haidat2172
      @haidat2172 Před 6 lety +1

      AverageTechFan the wh1000xm2 are just, marvelous, infact im watching this video with one. I’m from holland so our currency is euro. When this was brand new, this thing cost 380, now it is getting older the price will reduce, right now in holland its about 300 euro a piece now. I do have to note you about the noise canceling mode, the first time when you use it, it will feel like some pressure beeing on your ears, after a while using the headphone in anymode, the noise cancelling will get less and less painfull? At this stage where i am with my headphones its basically, i feel nothing, and the anc feature is just so amazing, in a plane you hear basically NO engine sound, especially when you are listening to your music. Although this headphone is amazing and stuff, i dont think its really worth upto its premium price tag,The brushed aluminium just looks amazing, and the touch control panel also is very responsive, but there are some huge flaws, the touch panel will be sensitve sometime, but you just have to restart it. Also when the cans are getting older, you will have some squeeking sounds when you move them back and forth (left and right earcup). Please consider those things when you own it.

      Yes. They do look like their old wired earbuds without the cord. Not really a leap in design. It's the big long stem which stick out that makes them not appealing to look at. If that was shorter, or they made it in black, it would have been better.

    • @averagetechfan7106
      @averagetechfan7106  Před 6 lety

      Hey GLC. I agree with you. I have always found the hard plastic earbuds that Apple has put out to be uncomfortable, there is no noise isolation, and they often fall out of your ears (especially the wired ones) when you exercise. I am not sure why I bought these 5 months ago? I guess I was brainwashed by loving most all things Apple. Although, my love is waning and They are starting to lose me. The latest Macbooks were a real disappointment. The no earphone jacks in the phones was a kick to the nards and now these crappy looking and feeling AirPods. It feels like Apple does no market research of what people want anymore. Sad. Once innovative and ahead of the pack, but, now falling farther behind their competitors in almost every product line.

    Thank you for your honest opinion on Apple!. Most fan people don't like to admit that Apple sucks now. I liked Apple at one point but now don't like it at all. They are so slow to adapt new or ongoing tech which Android devices has had for years and has fallen behind and it's frustrating that I gave up. Prime example, Quickcharge and even then it's not the full version and they make you pay for the Quickcharge cable and charger.

      Ha Ha. I think I was being vague? In case it wasn't clear, I am not a fan of the Airpods. ha ha. My most comfortable overall listening experience is an over the ear headphones I have with active noise cancelling. But I am not one who thinks walking around in public with big Headphones on your head is cool. So these Jabra 65t are a good compromise and allows me to wear them in public. Although small and with no wires, the sound is Good and they have a with a lot of features. It's just not as rich of a sound as full noise cancelling headphones. But we can't expect that on a tiny earbud speaker. So not a fair comparison.

However, my daughters airpods work just fine on laptop. So to me, that is a big difference.

    Hi Craig,
    New to the channel and enjoying it. Came for the sailing, but love the tech coverage. I do video editing and production for my day job, and spend most days when I'm in the office with headphones on/in. Last year I bought a pair of the Jaybird X3's and love them. amzn.to/2IQCbcy . The battery life is fantastic and they are comfortable (with the memory foam tips). You said 'Truly wireless' several times...what did you mean by truly wireless? Do you mean each earbud is a separate connection and no wire between them? Just curious. Thanks for the reviews.

    • @averagetechfan7106
      @averagetechfan7106  Před 6 lety

      Thanks. I have X3s as well. They are good. "True wireless" does mean that the earbuds are not connected to each other by a cord. Without a annoying cords pulling on your neck the earbuds feel lighter and less likely to get pulled out of your ears.

    Great vid, thanks. Can you do a comparison review between the 3 different versions of the Jabra Elite (Jabra Elite 65t, Jabra Active 65t, and Jabra Elite Sport)? I have a drawer full of Bluetooth headsets. But, keep going back to my outdated Jabra Wave headsets. Have wrestled over buying the Apple Earbuds many, many times. You have resolved that conflict within me, thanks. I am trying to decide which Jabra Elite to buy.

      I would love to do a comparison of all 3. If someone in Ottawa has the other 2 pairs and wants to bring them over to my place and make a comparison video with me, I am all for it. But, I can't afford to be buying every sexy piece of tech just to compare everything to each other all the time. I need to get a community of Ottawa Tech Fans who want to help me make videos by bringing their "Hot" tech to me to try. That would be fun . :-)

    Another annoying thing about these wireless ear buds is if you lose the case like I did they want $70 for a new one. The case is small and light and fell out of my pocket on a hike and I never noticed it was gone. Come on $70 for the case. Their cost is probably less than $10. Something to consider.

    I agree, my AirPods do look ridiculous in my ears. But not because of the shape or color... they're very similar to the wired EarPods that ship with millions of iPhones that people. My AirPods stick out away from the side of my face at a slight angle. All the other people wearing AirPods sit like yours do, nice and flush along the face.
    Other than that I enjoy my AirPods but do see the appeal of the Jabra. Although I think the Jabra case would annoy me more than looks of the AirPods. The AirPod case doesn't have any of the issues the Jabra does.
    BTW, you can get some nice inexpensive vinyl wraps for the AirPods.

    • @averagetechfan7106
      @averagetechfan7106  Před 6 lety

      Thanks. Yes, the case is the big flaw of the Jabras. They really should have made the charging spots magnetic so that the earbud just suck in as you get close. Now if you throw the case in a lose bag there is a decent chance you will find the earbuds loose in the bottom of the bag when you get to your destination. Getting dirty and maybe crushed by the other things in your bag. The Jabras also stick father out of your ear so you really can't keep them in your ear while you nap. For sleeping with earbuds in the airpods are OK but the best for low profile is the Jaybird Freedom 2s. I sleep with them in almost every night. Even when the timer stops the podcasts I fall asleep to the earbuds seal your ear canal and act as earplugs. Then I don't get disturbed by snoring or other noises. I should do an episode on that.

    I use the Rowkin Bit Charge Stereo. Not a fan of this category of electronics in general. I don't think you can make a tiny wireless earbud sound good, look good, and/or last long.

    I just got a pair and I must say the sound quality is not as good as I expected (sounded a little muffled) and the EQ doesn't seem to do much (??) maybe my expectations were too high? There was some lag on some videos but not too bad. Also sometimes (not sure why?) there was no sound at all but after putting the pods back into the charger for a few minutes it was ok but a little disappointing

    I’ll be entirely honest, I really don’t have the opinion that most do regarding the AirPods. I really think they don’t look bad! I mean, they don’t look good but I don’t think they look bad. Plus, I like the way they are a slim profile. I don’t think people should be self conscious about them being a fashion faux pa. I mean who cares what others think right? I honestly don’t but I may be in the minority in this regard. I just do, say, and wear things (in this specific sense) that I don’t mind the look of. It’s not to say I don’t get we;f conscious from time to time but I wear audience iSine’s inpublic and those things look pretty ugly so meh I couldn’t care less about aesthetics regarding audio drivers. I don’t own them but I may due to convenience since I use apple devices but I’m leaning to the Bose quiet comforts. Finally, if any of you don’t feel good wearing AirPods for any reason under the sun the that’s just you and I completely get it so we all need to understand a single product can’t please everyone.
