    why does my outdoor temperature ALWAYS default to 158 degrees?

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  Před 7 měsíci

      We first suggest resetting the system using a new set of regular alkaline batteries (from the same package) in both the outdoor sensor and the main display. If your temp remains stuck at 158°, this typically indicates an issue with the sensor or display. For assistance, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook page. Sorry for any inconvenience.

    My clock shows inaccurate temperatures. I just got back from vacation and on the outdoor temperature it shows -29.7°F. It won't go below -10°. Is that normal?

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  Před rokem

      The best way to tell if your outdoor sensor's calibration is off would be to bring the sensor inside and place it next to the station for at least two hours. After that, compare the indoor temperature with that of the outdoor (sensor) temp. If the readings are off by more than 4 degrees, this is definitely an issue, and you will want to contact our support team here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. However, if your temperature readings are within this range, the item is considered to be within tolerance and working correctly.
      If your sensor and station’s readings are within these tolerances and you feel you’re still getting high outdoor temperature readings, try looking for heat sources such as sunlight, door or window frames, or reflected heat. These could all be possible causes for higher temperature readings. Trying a new location for your sensor often helps resolve this issue.
      NOTE: If during this test you notice that your outdoor temperature reading isn't changing at all, this likely means the display is synced with a neighboring sensor. Performaing a full restart: bit.ly/LaxTech_BasicRestart can often help get the display connected with the correct sensor.

    Nice video but one question how does it get the weather info with the sensor or no sensor?

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Pamela, the display has a built-in barometer that keeps track of the atmospheric pressure in your area to help predict forecasts to come within the next 12 hours. More info can be found in your full manual here: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0035/7443/1790/files/ws-8158u-it.pdf?v=1594066127

    Is there a range extender I can buy for the temp gauge for this?

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Bobby, that's a great question, but unfortunately no. The outdoor sensor and display for this WS-8158U-IT unit are limited to about 330ft of separation in open air. We will pass along this range extender concept to our engineers though, so thank you for the feedback. Our apologies for any inconvenience.

      @@lacrossetechnology and about 20 feet if there is an exterior door in between them. And it is after all an OUTDOOR sensor sending a signal to an indoor clock. So there's that.

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  Před 3 lety

      @@bobbyashrimp Typically, for each wall, floor, window, or other large object the signal must pass through, this transmission distance gets cut in half. Additionally, certain types of walls (stucco) and/or windows can either absorb or reflect this signal as well. It can help to try a new location for the outdoor sensor and/or indoor display to see if this helps resolve the limited distance/interference problems. Keeping each item away from a lot of other electronics can help as well. If you truly feel your clock and sensor are not working correctly, please reach out to our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport -- They will be happy to help any way they can. Sorry again for any trouble.

    What does time zones do?

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  Před 2 lety

      The clock has a built-in antenna designed to receive the WWVB radio signal coming from the atomic clock located in Fort Collins, CO. This signal helps to set and keep your time accurate. The time zone and daylight saving time settings are needed to tell the clock what to show when the signal reception is received. More about how this signal works can be found here: bit.ly/AtomicTime
