    I don't mean to be a jerk but I think you may have meant CYP3A4 and CYP2C9
    it is easy to transpose a capital A and number 4. These are the pathways that get disrupted by grapefruit.
    So if you take a medicine with a warning about grapefruit, you might need to think about cannabis as well.

    It doesn’t mix well with lisinipril for a regurgitating aortic valve. I’ve read a few places that cannabis can thin the blood, so was hoping to swap it for my medication, that has so many side effects I only read them once. Has anyone else done similar?

    • @zz_plays_guitar
      @zz_plays_guitar Před 2 lety +2

      Cannabis can thin the blood and lowers platelets count and cause excess bleeding. It interacts with a lot of medication also, like antidepressants, beta blockers, statins etc. as a potent inhibitors and cause many cardio vascular diseases like myocarrditis, arrhythmia , pericarditis and so on. Marijuana is bad dude.

    • @jimmyglea
      @jimmyglea Před 2 lety +5

      Don’t do it, dude. I have a C Protein deficiency and have to take blood thinner to keep blood clots from forming. I must have read the same thing as you did, so I stopped taking the blood thinner. A month later, I was hit with another clot. Marijuana does a lot of good things…thinking blood isn’t one of them.

    commenters, dose dependant effect, if I stop using cannabis vape carts and I take a small dose, I get tachycardia, but if I use constantly, that doesn't occur, and in fact on higher sustained doses, my heart stops being so sensitive to it's normal triggers, such as fatigue, low blood sugar, or vapours such as car exhaust or paint fumes etc, cigarette smoke, which all make my heart act up. So it decreases my reactivity, but only at high, sustained doses, to environmental triggers, which is a habit that I developed unconsciously, because I just felt better and vomited less often, had a better appetite, which I struggle with, due to the heart issues; I also have postural tachycardia and orthostatic hypotension, mild, but continuous symptoms that get much better with continuous cannabis vaping. However, I'm aware that it may not be without risks. I do notice that when I vape too much, my fibromyalgia acts up and seems to be worse and I wonder what high doses does to my muscles, and the heart itself. There seems to be a sweet spot for me in terms of dosing. Thanks for reading, thanks for the video, and thanks for the comments.

    The use of edibles by over 65-70 yrs old seems to be not the same as smoking or vaping . I have used cannabis for 50 yrs and carefully used edibles with tolerance breaks. I wish there was more focus on seniors. The smoking of cannabis no doubt is very bad and especially for younger humans.

      Studies need to be done, but imagine that exposure level is probably a factor. Really exposure to burning wood from a fire is probably nearly as bad. People sometimes don't consider how any combustion product is probably bad for your lungs.

    No distinction between substance and method. I mean just the act of inhaling smoke could be the causal link, not the substance per se. The medical profession needs to get it's act together and work out the nuances.

    • @hehunches
      @hehunches Před rokem +3

      @@davidrochat2443 Well, sometimes, self medicating isn't addiction, it is addressing a core problem, notwithstanding whether in a counter effective manner. If you smoke weed alot, and then you stop and you get sick, it may be you have an illness, not an addiction... I thought I was addicted to weed since I was 17, but I found out in my 40s that I have autoimmune disease that makes weed extra relieving of my symptoms, symptoms healthy folks don't struggle with... Symptoms that are much decreased when I dull my CNS with cannabinoids because it dampers the immune response; try explaining to people that vaping cannabis extracts helps my asthma, and my syncope more than my inhaler does. The doctor gets it, at least they seem to know it works, regular people are ignorant and just think that 'drugs are bad because drugs are bad'. Drugs are medicine, and some people get attached to their effect because sometimes the effect is desirable.
