Yeah the stigma is quite odd, I think it’s due to the wealth stratification in India as it’s a rapidly developing nation, and is going through a gilded period of its own, much similar to the US around the turn of the 20th century. Wealthy Indian families can be found quite a bit, the wealthiest family in the UK - The Mittal’s, the Guptas in South Africa, various others, but I think this stigma arises from the overdocumentation and over publicity of the underprivileged groups in India. It’s very interesting to look in to, but all I can hope as someone with Indian roots living abroad is that hopefully as the wealth stratification in the mainland dies down as India develops industrially, the stigma will too.

Его английский на уровне, что даже иностранец, для которого английский не родной язык, даже проживая не в Британии или США (или Австралии и т.д. по списку - англичане «уважать себя заставили» ещё более, чем 300 лет назад). А проживая в маленькой, но гордой стране Северной Европы - где англо-язычные фильмы/передачи не переводят/дублируют (что убивает по минимуму треть фильма -актёр играет 50% голосом), а используют титры, слава богу…) И как результат - даже бомжи говорят на сносном английском. А не как в России - 9 из десяти, если забыть про Москву/Питер, где молодёжь с грехом пополам, но по английски пару слов связать могут. Так что люди - смотрите фильмы только в оригинале, с субтитрами (всякие «я не успеваю читать и смотреть одновременно - чушь. В начале и вправду немного трудно, но к второй половине фильма титры воспринимаются на подсознательном уровне, особенно если по английски хоть немного говоришь…
Но это я как всегда отвлёкся - хохочу каждый раз, когда смотрю Тревора Ноа в голос, что на меня люди оборачиваются если я в транспорте. Так, как он изображает разные акценты - шедевр! Его в дубляже смотреть просто нереально!… так что учите английский и будет вам счастье!
А Тревору огромное спасибо за его стенд-ап. Который, в отличии, например от Камеди клаб - не юмор «ниже пояса», а интеллигентный юмор, что сегодня редкость…
I like how the way live comedy works depends on each country. Here in Spain, normally, comedians just greet the public and thank them for being there and when the cheering and applause is done, they jump right away into the monologue, without leaving their character until the very end. In America, instead, in almost every monologue I watch, the comedian interacts with the public, you know, "How are you guys tonight?" or "Ah, it's good to be here, (Name of city)", that kind of introductions.
I'm not making fun of it, I just find it interesting. Also, the way each country tells jokes is way different too, but that would take me forever to talk about so yeah, I'll leave it here
