    HI MIKE. I GOT MY WOLF RIDGE SPLITTER ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO AND I LOVE THE THING. I'VE GOT THE 28 TON MODEL BUT SADLY WITH NO WEDGE LIFT. IT WASN'T AVAILABLE AT THE TIME BECAUSE I ASKED CHRIS IF HE COULD PUT ONE ON THE MACHINE I BOUGHT AND HE SAID NO. I DID ABOUT 3 MONTHS OF RESEARCH ON SPLITTERS AND WHEN I FOUND WOLF RIDGE MY SHOPPING WAS OVER. EVERYTHING IS OVER BUILT INCLUDING THE 22 GPM PUMP THAT IS STANDARD EQUIPMENT. ALL THE OTHER ONES I LOOKED AT HAD 11 GPM PUMPS AND SMALL OIL TANKS WHICH LEADS TO OVERHEATING. OVER ALL ,I STILL THINK IT'S THE BEST MACHINE ON THE MARKET UNLESS YOU GET INTO THE WOOD PROCESSING OUTFITS. OH ONE LAST THING THE COMPANY IS AWSOME TOO. I GOT A PACKAGE IN THE MAIL YEARLY THIS SPRING AND IT WAS THE REAR STAND THAT WASN'T AVAILABLE WHEN I BOUGHT MY MACHINE. WHEN THEY STARTED MAKING THEM THEY JUST SENT ME ONE AT NO EXPENCE. THAT'S PRETTY GREAT. ENJOY YOUR NEW TOY,I KNOW I ENJOY MINE. P.S., I MOVE MINE AROUND IN MY BARN ALL THE TIME JUST BY PICKING UP ON THE FRONT END.

    @jasone9729 Před 5 lety +12

    Mike you are correct that you need 3 or 4 people on that machine to really get the full potential out of it. I think if you picked up an old hay elevator to put under that thing to get the split wood out of the way would be a cheap option. Big business gets all the attention but small businesses are what made this country great!

    Great video Mike . That is one heck of a nice splitter . Like the way the 4-way wedge moves up and down to split the rounds evenly . It even moves up all the way up to use the single wedge . Pricey yea but it will last you a life time if you take care of it . None of this leaving it outside like some people do . Have even seen some CZcamsrs even leave their generator outside in the elements . Even the lifting arm is a great idea . No heavy lifting at all . I'm impressed .

    Hi, M&M,
    If I may I would like to share a couple of ideas with you:
    •Since you can put a receiver hitch on either end of this splitter, I would think you could also pull your dump trailer behind the splitter. Take more equipment all at once.
    To get really advanced, put the 3 point tool carrier on the tractor, hitch the splitter to it, then add the trailer to that. If you did this only once, it would make a good picture or short video. The Morgan Train! But I always take a lot of equipment, including a saw that I may not use, etc that would be easy to carry this way. I live by, "Just in Case."
    •On one end is the foot you crank down to support that end of the splitter. I put one of these on with a caster wheel. I have had occasion to pull the splitter over rough ground by hand. It was really nice to have the whole splitter on 3 wheels.

  • @cumminstbd05
    @cumminstbd05 Před 5 lety +2

    Nice machine. That cycle time is really impressive. I can definitely see your point about needing a helper to keep that machine fed and stacking what you split. I like the hydraulically controlled wedge too. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see how fast it functions when you have your helper!

    This splitter looks really nice and well built. I’ve never heard of the manufacturer (had to go Google them). I think if I had known about them before I bought my Woodmizer FS350, I could have saved a lot of money. I’ve owned a lot of Woodmizer mills and just go to them for this kind of stuff but it’s nice knowing Woodmizer has competitors offering just as high a quality product. I know you’re considering a mill and if you like I’ll impart some wisdom before you go down that route if you like. I’ve owned 4 Woodmizer’s through the years, from the base model to the top.

    81 degrees in Central Va. it is now 67 at 6:15 pm, just got in from cutting wood, a good day to sweat out some of the winter fat it was interesting to watch this, as one round of wood became 4 pieces then 18 pieces, in about 40 seconds. that pretty slick, and no real WORK was exerted. the story about this splitter is fantastic, best of luck to those that produce this.

    Thanks for the video a few back about shaping the split to get long flat splits for the end stacks. Being new, I hadn't thought of that before. I've been using it a lot now and it makes a huge difference. I've always just cut basic quarters, I'm trying to make more flat, or square splits for stacking, and likely to load in the fire box easier. Haven't tried that yet.
    I like the production of the 4x on the blade, but I'm kinda now getting into placing the split where I want it on the blade to get the piece I want. But, that's a homeowner talking, not a production guy.

    Mike , that is a nice splitter, one feature that could be added is a cross member, a 2 inch channel beam towards front of Ibeam and using auto jack stands under channel beam that would prevent splitter from tipping with very large logs on lift table, Something in the order of 25 inch diameter and 24 -26 inch long. I built and added a hydraulic lift table to my 20 ton log splitter, and with the fore mentioned suggestion, the table will support a thousand pounds with no problem and will not flip log splitter.

The big advantage is the push through design coupled with a log lifter. There are a few companies making this type of splitter. Log lifters are great- like a magazine on a gun! Take care!
