- This is the BMW i7 M70!
The M70 is the performance version of the premium all-electric i7 released in 2022, and its design is a bit more aggressive with extensive black trim, sportier bumpers and 21-inch alloy wheels as standard with aerodynamic trim.
But if you thought the sporty upgrades would translate to the cabin, not so much - it’s just as plush as the standard i7, although there are some M tricolour flashes and other M upgrades in there to keep it interesting.
However, with the M70’s impressive power upgrade comes an eye-watering price hike!

It looks like one of those Chinese 'luxury' cars that are an amalgamation of multiple European luxury sedans, yet, manages to make them all appear in their worst possible way. Great job BMW!

Man I remember the M5 back in 06 did 0-60 in 4.5 secs. That was unheard of for a Sedan. Now this car the size of an submarine is putting out a 0-60 like a high end sports car 😅. Man what a time to be alive lol.
I’m still not yet sure about the exterior looks but it does seem to have presence on the road. However, the drive, tech and interior look fantastic.
If you’re not sure of the look… your initial gut feeling is always true.

i recently saw one driving in full dark gray, and seeing it in person on the road it really does look like a posh car and it screams look at me i am rich and drive a i7!
Personally if i had the money i would never get one, but i can see rich folks who want to show that they are important and rich drive in these cars.

It has presence the way an Aztek and a Multipla have presence.
It’s still not good looking in my eyes, but it has some cool features for sure
I think it grew on me tbh simpler cleaner design language for going full into luxury & quite "luxury" standout on the road
It looks like chinese attempts at making modern looking cars during early 2000s, or some need for speed over the top tasteless tuning. It's ugly from the front and boring from sides.
Its so weird how people hate on the new bmw 7 series when this and the new rolls royce spectre look identical from the front i actually prefer the bmw one. People forget that BMW owns rolls royce

Car manufacturers understand they've hit the wall on efficiency and charge times. They're using performance to differentiate themselves.

@@weirdshibainu I don't take road trips, when I'm going far, I fly, and I'm not even wealthy enough to own that car. The MAJORITY of people, like it or not, almost never need to go over 250 miles. The vast majority of most people's driving is to work and back, dinner and back, maybe from the country into the city and back (or vice versa) so the majority doesn't need 600 miles range. If you do, great. Buy an efficient slow gas car. For me, I would rather massive power and performance over range. ALL my cars have been speed and power and horrible gas milage. I now have an EV that is quicker than most sports cars. I can run the battery down in no time on my drives but that's ok, because I can charge at home and never have a need to go far. If I am going on a trip, (say California to Texas) Id just fly. Driving that sucks, doesn't matter how nice the car is.
@@Cruor34 It's not a question of "liking it or not" I'm also not talking about distances requiring flying. I do drive a "slow" gas car. No issues, takes 5 minutes to refuel and I'm on my way. I have no problem spending a couple more seconds getting from zero to 60. I don't have to prove anything. You sound really insecure, bloviating about how fast you can accelerate. If it ever gets away from you, hopefully you'll be the only casualty...now, that I like.

14:30 I wonder if brake lights were engaged the moment regen kicked in. Because it seems like some of the EVs can slow down faster than ICE cars while engine braking and this is a bit annoying.

Better than slowing down and not alerting the cars behind you, like the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Thing doesn't even use the brake lights when using 1 pedal driving mode or it's highest regen setting. The car slows down nearly as fast as braking with max regen and yet not a single brake light to let anybody else know. It's annoying, but a safety requirement for you and everybody around you.

I've seen the i7s a lot here on the Autobahn in Germany. And if it's completely black it looks really good, especially in Person.
Not a big fan of any other Colours on it, but the i7 in black really grew on me

Since BMW owns Rolls-Royce since quite some time i wondered if they do the two-tone because it looks good on any RR.
But i think one colour is better for this design
I have seen a few of these over the last couple of weeks, and one was immediately behind a Merc EQS. The Beemer looked so much better and had a road presence, unlike the blancmange in front, which looked like it had been too close to a fire and had melted.
Both are hideous. Germany lost the plot styling for Asia.
Well that is one thing they kept, the German push factor. Youll move when this flashes. And indeed the Mercedes blends into too much.
One has subtle and efficient styling, the other needs to shout to be noticed

@@sigabiz Not really, Tesla S Plaid is weight unladen 2265kg vs 2770 M70. Or Gross Vehicle Weight 2629kg for Tesla S and 3250 for M70. Length 5021mm vs 5391mm. Wheelbase 2960mm vs 3215. There is no comparison, different worlds. Apparently the same segment F- Luxury but really not. And I really don't like BMW's. 🙂
Its like driving a ship on the road, u must always be more careful than the usual car weight, but I guess u get used to it and there's quite a bit of technologies controlling the rolling in the corners which is the part where the heavy weight is most noticable.

You got me a little busy here trying to find where exactly this was filmed. I didn't find out, but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere around Lourinhã, a place which for me stands for two things, the important dinosaur fossils that were found there, and an architecture that might be considered a sort of pinnacle in tastelessness, with those printed tiles and the strange combination of garish colours. My father actually contributed to that by supplying construction materials in the eighties. Now that I think of it, it's a good fit for this car and how it might be seen one or two decades from now.

im debating between this i7 or 760i but ive always been benz driver always had s class i recently leased 2024 m440i it is quick but tiny for a s class driver so im thinkin lease this or buy w221 202”13 s63. now why old model? because i can modify the headlights and do bright headlights im crazy for bright headlights. i want it for daily so i think 7 series is a short list during to bring very pricy and all the tv and stuff because i wont be using as i will be the one driving it so it is a hard decision

Exterior design is debateable, i like the back, i dont know about the front... i looks overdone, like 2 ideas togetter, but non of them shines more.... Some people may love it i still be tryin to understand it while thinking about it. Id rather go for somethink that fits me more like KIA or Range Rover :P
Why is it when I go on the configuration site, the dash shows as tricolour all around below the carbon. It looks awful in the picture online.

I'm not sure if my eyes wear fooling me, but i believe the camera car for this video was the new BMW i5/5 series. I feel another review coming. Also to correct Mat when he said the EQS 53 is more powerful than the i7 M70 (1:19) while it shows the i7 has 2 more raging electric HP😅

I think I would describe the styling of this as "busy" both inside and out. I think you'd either love it or hate it.

In person the new 7 series looks much better than in videos, looks imposing and powerful like a RR. Defo doesn’t rly under the radar and if you want luxury and to show off your money I guess it works.
Always surprises me when I see one on the road. They are sooooo big looking. Like... They are taller than some of the electric crossovers that have come out (EV6). It looks big enough to be a small suv. Very imposing car. Like a slightly bigger rolls royce.

@@hassyg4083no it isn’t - the platforms are totally different. They may share some electrical architecture, but chassis is substantially different.
@@hassyg4083 Rolls-Royce has its own architecture and has had since the current Phantom, which underpins every model since. It isn’t shared with BMW. That’s not to say some parts aren’t shared, but the architecture/chassis is unique to RR. It’s a world away from what the 2009 Ghost was, which was very clearly built on a BMW platform.

This car looks weird in pictures and videos (in my opinion) but a few months ago I was in Prague and I spotted one driving down the road I was on, slowly. It was matte black. I stopped on my tracks and stared. My jaw might have dropped. It felt like I was witnessing EVIL on wheels. All thought of the weird look left my mind. This car awesome (literally) road presence.
The i7 styling needs a bit of getting used to!😅😅

I was in the market for a sedan. The BMW i7 is a total length of 212 inches which is a little too long for me since my garage isn’t that deep, so I went with a 2012 Honda Civic instead

I feel like the bmw i7 is actually good looking on the exterior if the grill is black with the surrounding colours being black too to kind of hide the grill’s size.

Toyota is totally on a different category.
Lexus is competing with BMW in the luxury market, and they have totally been destroyed in the last couple of years in front of BMW.
Lexus and Mercedes used to sell way higher than BMW 10 years ago.
It is no longer the case, and BMW keeps gaping them year after a year.
Higher sales means that people love these cars.
