- Taiji is an incredibly highly rated puzzle game that took 8 years for a solo developer to create- was it worth the wait?

Until someone proves me otherwise, I'm just going to assume that Matt bruteforced every single puzzle and then just paid his editor a little extra to cut out the hours and hours of guessing the wrong patterns xD
He realised the ground has the pattern and the proceeded to ignore the background in the very next ones. I'm with you on that one
Paid? Really?
Yeah, editors don’t get paid
@11:36 he literally admits to doing this so no one can prove you wrong 😅
Matt is just stupid
4:58 he missed rather a strong pattern with the stairs and the arches. I can’t believe it.
Here we see the duality of RCE's mind. Immediately figuring out puzzles, or stumbling Strongest Shape first into success. It's a state of being I know well, as I, too, have (many) such moments where I either instantly understand a puzzle and can solve it without issue, or I just brute force my way through it until I accidentally solve it.
The rules aren’t changing, you’re refining your understanding of the rules. For example, the pillars always had the rules about different sides, but the early examples hid that by being a single column wide and having the same on both left and right.
Except the last puzzle of the pillar area. While the solution makes a certain amount of sense with the limited information given, it does not actually match the rules of the rest of the area.
@@belian5928 what was with that last one tho?
The rule for the area is “reflection is invert.” The last puzzle is closer to “repeat and invert.”
You still separate it into left and right sections down the middle, but the opposite of column 1 is column 3 instead of column 4.
Matt you're currently my favorite channel to watch on my lunch breaks but I occasionally find myself yelling at my screen when you miss obvious hints 🤣
Definitely you were brilliant in this because i was completely lost several times even with you explaining it.
3:56 - You had to look at the background, in the stone, the pattern is chiseled in!
Whoever edited to insert the cut scenes (Cartman, Uncle Buck) is on point today.
I’m impressed with your puzzle solving in this one. Good job
Watching Matt figure these out and getting really excited makes me happy 😄
Abstract puzzle games are the best! Hope to see Matt play more of this when I was starting to get it alongside him.
This is a master-class in level design! No tutorial, no interruptions or spoonfeeding of every single new thing, just a progression of the puzzles and environment making you figure out the rules yourself!
As an engineer myself, I deeply appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into engineering. I am truly inspired by the amazing feats achieved by engineers across the world. I Love Engineering is an amazing platform where engineers can come together to share their insights and promote innovation. Whether it’s creating new designs, developing innovative solutions to challenging problems, or even advancing the field of robotics, it’s incredible to see what engineers can do and all the progress they’ve made. Thank you, I Love Engineering, for giving us a platform for us to express and exchange ideas and visions. I am truly grateful for all the work you do to celebrate the importance of engineering!
I'll confess to having fallen away from puzzle gaming in recent years, but this game looks amazing. I hope the 21k views and 2k likes in 2 hours keep going and encourage you to continue this puzzle adventure on CZcams.
It's quite a game, and the variety of puzzles is impressive. I particularly liked the tree games that come later. They weren't terribly challenging, but they were clever and beautiful.
Its always a good video when theres a bridge review
1:07 into the video and we already got a bridge review!? Nothing beats that! 😁
You know it’s gonna be a good video when there’s a bridge review in the first 2 mins
Yea
What i'm seeing is we had bridges but no bridge songs!
6.9 out of 10 good content but needs more songs.
still waiting for the RCE Album release date!
It's a lot like The Witness, except 2D and way less pretentious. I like it.
Super cool game, would love to see more videos of this 👍
Matt sees architecture stairs and then runs away to other area and never returns. Lol. Was a good video and I enjoyed it like I do every day.
This seems like a great game to teach observation ability
I still desire a YT shorts series where Matt reviews real life bridges. To get around footage copyright, fans can submit videos of their local bridges.
When the colors entered the game, I just got more confused 😂😂😂
Real Civil Engineer always made a bridge review in every bridge review
I can’t believe how much content he makes!
I love the THX impression at the intro.
we need a part 2 please 🙏
Game recommendation: Zeepkist - soapbox racing game with really good level editor - not for architects
Please play “A Monster’s Expedition”. It’s kind of similar to this one with the islands but you need to knock trees to the correct location to get to the next island. I really enjoyed playing that one and would love to see you play it Matt!
I like this, more of this game pls
3:40 the solution was carved into the stone to the right of the statue lol
Barely 1 minute in and we're getting a Bridge Review, brilliant
SUCH A CLEVER WAY FOR A DOMINO PUZZLE
There are a few things we love in life, Engineers, Solo Devs, dogs(especially paddy), bridges(my beloved), and knob jokes!
You know it’s a good video when there’s South Park references 😂
13:58 i was about to say and then Matt just said it hahah, that was very funny
I've been in the City of Bridges (New Orleans) for 2 days. I hope you come here one day and do an insane amount of bridge reviews.
I just ordered my beaver engineer plushy and I cannot wait to get it.
Can't wait to see the rest of the game.. I saw someone else do this game.
Matt's in for a fun ride
I commend your engineer brain, you figured out puzzles before I could even comprehend them
Hope to see more
This game is so well-made
Each level is color coordinated to reveal the intended shape!
This was a cool little game sort of like a top down the witness it'd be nice if you made more videos on this one, Because I don't think I could beat this game just watching you made my head hurt
This is the most satisfyingly educational content I've watched since Bill Nye The Science Guy
4:00 - RCE missed the pattern in the cliff (the solution) to the right of the "block" pattern! Blubbs may be right!!!
Looks fun
what a game, nice video
that was cool!!!!
I would love to see you play escape simulator, Matt
Hey matt. If your are on a quest to find the most exciting puzzle games then you should try a game called professor lupo and his horrible pets. Its definitely a fun and challenging but underrrated game
At 3:40 the solution is to the right of the reference column, and on the penultimate puzzle you just learned to look for the solution elsewhere. But no, you had to try and find a logical explanation for the missing white squares... 😆 Same thing on the previous one where the correct pattern is on the grass but you preferred to deduce that it was about making a complete pattern.
I haven't seen the rest yet, but it looks promising 😅
16:00 i think that are domino peaces
Im surprised he didnt see the knobs at 5:01
I'm getting serious Monument Valley meets Picross vibes from this. :)
Love you RCE
Not me watching the beginning over and over because it tickled my brain.
Domino section *screams* the Witness, but the game as a whole is a nice take on the genre.
new pusler: Humanity. You're basically Paddy taking humans for a walk
liked that game
is there actually a playthrough of Matt playing the witness? I can't find it
Hey matt you should totally check out the new metroid prime remaster. It has so many different bridges. Varying from stone, steel, ice, plant matter, and even raw energy feilds the bridges in this game cant be beat
extra points if they managed to sneak an easter egg of a tall chubby bearded guy somewhere near a chasm.
"Who are you?"
"I'm a dude."
and he punches you across.
I can't imagine spending 8 years of something and it doesn't get enough attention
have you ever played the classic space quest games? you should.
Thats a cool game.
4:52 thumbnail Brigid found let's go
WE WANT MORE POLY BRIDGE
This one actually was hard to follow ahjaja
Wow 😲
Yo! Have you ever tried "The Talos Principle" puzzle game?
Matt almost made the same beginner mistake I did.... trying to take on the house first....
Niff- tea sponsers this video, more knob jokes and bridge reviews coming in poly bridge 3.
I'm dying watching you figure out the multi-dot rule and then completely failing to realize that 1 dot is going to follow the same rule, but for n = 1 instead of n = 2 or n = 4. 🙂 In a good way, mind you. It was definitely entertaining.
15:30 they look like the tiles of that gane that at the moment I don't remember the name😅 there are the dots that are the numbers and you need to match the dots to make it a very long thingy... Anyone understand it? Pls
22:15 well there are two rust you made 😂
If you watch at 2x speed he solves the puzzles fast enough to axtually seem smart. That's really hard to do for an engineer.
I loved it
What if you did a bridge review on a bridge review.
Well I feel dumb now 😂 . That looked like something Einstein would solve 😂.
Have you seen a game called occupy mars. I think you would like it. 😊
I'm just gonna warn you right now, there were a few puzzles in this game that Tyler had to come back to.
Woah
love it
Bridge review the bridge review logo
Excuse me, where's the song!?
Oh god no my brain😢
22:17
Please play tiny room(13 chapters(or more))
Play Sid Meier's Railroads it's so good
Another game that @CrackingTheCryptic did in a live stream. Collab! Collab! Collab!
Aliensrock actually solve the entire map year ago
Liked only coz the bridge review 😂😂😂
30th of may... i truss you that you know whats coming out on that day.
8:21 starting to think like a gamer, see a thing, does that hurt me.
you should play opus magnum if you like puzzle games :)
Waneer ben je een engineer volgens jou matt
New segment idea:
"What the Architect"
About about structures that look..... well, you know. And what's wrong with it. Also with a score on 1 to 10 on how bad it is.
Day 216:Dear Matt,
I have a very good video idea
Gather all your editors and make them all have 3 chances to make the cheapest, best and most efficient bridge, or the best score on any motorway game(e.g AQR, that one train game, ect...), or who make the longest and most efficient shapes. And see who is the best editor and is worthy of the rank of a classified engineering. From me.
Good idea😊
👍
