The ruby slippers were recovered about a year after this went up! And an interesting tidbit, the Smithsonian pair are actually mismatched - the right one is from pair #1 and the left is from pair number 6. The stolen slippers are left #1 and right #6!
Thanks for the update, I was curious about that.
I watched the Exhibition Unknown episode where they try to find them, and it's pretty cool
so archeologists are sifting through sand, excavating a replica Egyptian civilization? that's one priceless hunk of irony you got there
The sight of that dude tossing a droid into a dumpster was like someone punched me in the heart!
Swanson! 😂😂
@@ty703 k
Especially seeing as it was red from a new hope cause I’d kill to own the prop used for it
Here's a pretty cool story:
After the release of Alien, FOX didn't really think about looking after their props as the film wasn't a huge success due to the rating it received. So in late 1979, a man called Bob Burns sent a letter to Fox asking for permission to put on an Alien themed haunted house, and they sent him a ton of props...including the actual Nostromo. Like, the goddamn full size model they used in the film. The thing sat in his garage for two decades before being bought again and then finally restored.
Royce Bracket what??! that's amazing!
For many years Bob Burns did his house up for Halloween each year for his neighbors - always a Movie theme and put on quite an impressive show. He was they guy that discovered and restored the original Time Machine prop. I read a story on him and the Time Machine in a Starlog Magazine from the 1970's (I still have it somewhere in storage)
I met Bob Burns several times about a decade ago in Kentucky at tWonderfest convention. A real nice guy who knew everything about the business.
One aspect of the Aliens movie that is "theoretically" still around, is the set "under the cooling towers" where all of the colonists had been taken and cocooned. The set, which was gnarly to begin with, had bodies fastened to the wall with alien secretions (secreted from what?), and featured Newt's supposed brother, "Timmy", and others contorted in pain; their chests blown outward. It was originally built in an old electrical facility in Britain (I think), and when shooting was complete, the nightmare set was left behind, untouched. Years passed and urban explorers rediscovered the terrifying wall decorations in the old substation, where they'd been, for tens of years. I don't know if anything has happened to it since then.
They just found the stolen Ruby slippers! Took 13 years and a press conference is expected to happen soon.
I'm glad that they found them! First of all, why the hell would do that!? That's a piece of history they just threw there!
I had a really shitty night tonight and this info just made it a whole hell of a lot better. I was devastated to hear about the theft when i first saw this vid, coming back to it tonight was the best decision
@@shadowqueen6485 I agree I mean that’s A PIECE OF HISTORY and you have the audacity to throw them in a river Really?! The wizard of oz is a beloved film and what made it so icon was not just the actors playing the beloved characters, the ruby slippers were a huge icon and every child and child of heart wanted to be Dorothy.
It wouldn’t surprise me they stole them yet it was real rubies or they were drunk idiots who didn’t even know better. But I’m glad history was finally restored.
Who the hell uses the Death Star as a *Trash Can??*
Hillbilly’s who watch reruns of shitty sitcoms
Jar Jar Abrams
Someone who doesn't see a prop as anything more than something to discard after a movie wraps. MGM didn't have an auction until 1970. Even then, it was a rather informal event compared with today's auctions that are being handled by Christie's.
Vader Haters lol.
Right?! I'm kinda sick of star wars stuff but even on my most cynical day I'd never alow that! I'd sooner buy it off my boss and donate it.
I love the story of how the Cowardly Lion's suit was retrieved from the garbage & restored.
“Ok guys we just bought one of the biggest pieces of movie memorabilia what should we do with it” “uhhhh we don’t have a bin”
Who knew that "the Ten Commandments" and "ET for Atari" could have something in common? ;)
I find the current status of the original Kong puppet/whatever it's called,to be a very sad state. That puppet has made such an impact on the film industries and I find it sad that it is now just rusty metal bones.
Just like the real kong; it's dead.
Hearing about the Star Wars props being thrown into dumpsters made me ill. If I'd been one of the crew members cleaning out the storage unit, my garage and house would have suddenly gotten much more crowded. And today I'd be retired with a fat bankroll.
IronheadOfScroteus the video clip of Luke screaming "NOOO" is well placed
You should see the fate of the sets from RDM's "Battlestar Galactica." They literally tore them down as the show ended. The SeeFee Channel is insidious.
I'd want one of the small Audrey II puppets/models from "Little Shop of Horrors." Some pieces are still around, but thanks to the latex that was used to give the plant puppets their flexibility they're getting withered to the point of crumbling. Not to mention that a lot of the plants were huge so they had to be disassembled. It also seems to be a mystery of who in the Creature Shop team got which plants.
As weird as this may sound, I would love to have the full sized endoskeleton robot from the Terminator franchise. I'm a bit in love with the design of that robot 😍
Miss Time Bunny there was one for sale at universal studios Florida when I was there in 2010 for $999
For that cheap it was probably one of the many lifesize replicas made for collectors over the years
Basically a giant light up statue with limited articulation.
The real prop would be worth considerably more
Dude. Your content is top notch. I love it!
Wait no one commented cool
Disney Dan, so is your content!
A trash can??
I know, right!?!
glossbones Tbh it was a cool looking trash can
TheSassyBot - I'd throw may trash in it
TRASH MAN
I EAT GABAGE
I would personally like to own one of the stopmotion puppets used in the nightmare before Christmas.
My heart just broke hearing about the ruby slippers being stolen and just thrown out.
Whoever stole them must be kicking themselves.
Good news, they were found again.
Leah Wren Yup. :)
@@LoupGarouForte really? Where did you see that? Who did it, and why?
Gilhelmi I'm probably just saying something you already know but it was on the news that the slippers where found
The ship from Flight of the Navigator has an interesting story behind it too, being used as a hot dog bar.
Larry Bundy Jr I think it’s a drink station but yeah it’s one of the two used. The other was on the backlot tour in piss poor shape. I wanted to take it home
i remember being a kid and going on the studio tour at MGM.... and seeing the decaying ship just there in the back? kind of like my old uncle's chevy? just... there? propped up over weeds and grass on some scaffold... just really ruined it for me. i was 11...
+Larry Bundy Jr Great, how's it gonna get the star charts needed to get home now?! >_
I want the chair from the floor rig.
Compliance
I wish I had one of the AT-ST From Star Wars. One hell of a piece of yard art!
your videos are so well thought out, edited, and narrated. thanks for making something entirely enjoyable to watch!
Thank you so much! I constantly obsess over writing and re-writing, narrating and re-narrating, so I appreciate your words of positivity!
I'd love to have one of the original Jack Skellington puppets used in Nightmare Before Christmas
cringe
Otaking Mikohani
"puppets" are you dumb?
No, I'm not dumb. They are indeed referred to as puppets, even by Henry Selick. Go watch the behind-the-scenes if you don't believe me.
can confirm, stop motion animation character models are often called puppets.
puppets
a movable model of a person or animal that is used in entertainment. it's in the definition
So a phony shark is named after a lawyer? How ironic.
Why don't sharks bite lawyers? Professional courtesy!
Badum-shk (my interpretation of a drumset comedy outro)
Yesterworld Entertainment aka musical sting or rimshot. Yours is an onomatopoeia!
Yesterworld Entertainment - The story about the set for DeMille's "10 Commandments" has always fascinated me. It was so MASSIVE! Today that shit would all be done in crappy CGI.... I miss the days before CGI, where people made sets, props, costumes, makeup up, animatronics, pyrotechnics, etc.... all by *HAND.* They were real life tactile pieces of film history.
PS. That sound you're talking about is called a "rim shot" haha ;-)
thats also where "BRUCE" the shark from Finding Nemo gets its' name.
Love the story of Bruce The Shark. Such a fun piece of Hollywood lore.
Great video!
I remember taking a picture with Bruce in Universal when I was little. I was always afraid of it ahahah
Scarlett O'haras (Vivienne Leigh) mourning brooch! the big one she wears at the end of the film, designed by Walter Plunket... or Julie Andrews parott brolly and carpet bag from Mary Poppins! so many things I'd like for myself from the movies! 😍😍😍 great vid!
Scarlett's large mourning brooch wasn't designed by Walter Plunkett, it actually belonged to his mother and he borrowed it for GWTW. It likely went back to his family and is hopefully being cared for today. I would like to know where it is, though!
KEEP IT UP your videos are seriously entertaining!!!
And you are seriously awesome!! Thanks for watching!
Yesterworld Entertainment - I wonder where the ORIGINAL "Maltese Falcon" (1931) statue is
There is also the story about the original Enterprise. Short version is that it was lost after the show ended, so they made a new one for the movie, but after some time the original model was left at the Paramount lot entrance. The bottom was covered in grease and eye hooks had been placed in the top, so they think it was placed in some restaurant.
I'd personally like to own the leather coat used by Brandon Lee in The Crow
Anyone watching this in 2018 after they recovered the ruby slippers ??
Yup! Immediately thought of that as soon as it was brought up in the video
your right they did recover them now those are worth 2 million
I live in Minnesota and we talked about it in English, they actually had them for quite a while but waited for the anniversary of the movie to reveal that they found them.
I didnt kno that it was found...
ya saw it on yahoo here is a snippet. great video anyway,...Tips flowed in over the years but they led either nowhere -- or to reproductions. One week, they were nailed to a wall in a roadside diner in Missouri, or resting at the bottom of a water-filled ore pit. Would-be tipsters reported them on display at the Smithsonian, which was true -- "Yeah, we know that, that's another pair," Johnson said."The thieves not only took the slippers, they took a piece of history that will be forever connected to Grand Rapids and one of our city's most famous children," Johnson said.A break in the case came in the summer of 2017, the FBI said in a statement. An individual approached the company that insured the slippers, saying he had information about the shoes and how they could be returned, and "it became apparent that those involved were in reality attempting to extort the owners of the slippers," Special Agent Christopher Dudley, who led the investigation from the FBI's Minneapolis Division, said in the statement. After nearly a yearlong investigation involving the bureau's Art Crime Team, the FBI Laboratory, and field offices in Chicago, Atlanta and Miami, the slippers were recovered during an undercover operation in Minneapolis, the statement said.Jill Sanborn, special agent in charge of the Minneapolis division of the FBI, called the shoes' recovery a "significant milestone." But law enforcement is still seeking information about the 2005 theft, she said.
The Flux Capacitor from Back to the Future, the Jeep or John Hammond's Fossilized Mosquito Cane from Jurassic Park.
I think I drooled a bit reading your comment...the closest I own is an actual fossilized insect my father gave me knowing my obsession with Jurassic Park...guess I'll have to dig that up (Pun intended)
Jovani Cepero Yusss, I want that delicious amber! Amber in general is quite expensive on the gem market right now, by the way, so no luck for getting something like the movie prop without some serious cash.
But there's always hotlix. It's like Jurassic Park, but you can eat the bug instead.
Could probably talk to a neon sign shop for a Flux Capacitor replica.
its no moon.......its a trash can
You sir or Madam, gave ma chuckle!
it’s too big to be a trashcan 😂
its a trap, wait, no its a garbage can
I obtained a piece of the cabin from Evil Dead 2 from the guys who salvaged it. He says it's a piece of the roof
i hope it's real! they say the berlin wall has been sold ten times over, lol, so i hope you didn't pay much for it.
ryan barker got it for free so either way I'm happy lol
good deal then. and even if it's not real, which i hope it is, does it matter? i mean, it's the story of it, not if it's real, eh? :)
Hopefully it's not cursed
Ooooo, your gonna be so haunted Kevlar!
I'd like to have the guitar Marty played in the 1st "Back to the Future" movie. But only Chuck Berry tunes could be played on it.
There is no way you'd catch me on a tube in the water watching Jaws
I am usually not a fan of wardrobe but the Ruby slippers are an exception to that rule. They are the center of the story and a magical prop.
John Hammond's Cane from Jurassic Park.
Dude!!
Edwin Palacio that's cool
Edwin Palacio I got Yodas cain off a old Asian guy in San Francisco.
Steve McQueen’s “Bullitt” Mustang.
If you ever do another in this series you should look into the James Bond Props that were left at the bottom of the Silver Springs River in Florida. I grew up in that area and they've always been something that's pretty cool.
Id love to have one of the terror dogs from ghostbusters!!! They're so creepy, I love them ☺️
That white powdery stuff from scarface...
Dutch Sailor Why the hell would you want cocain? (Yeah that's the white powdery stuff from Scarface) you trying to get high?
I know people are treating this as a troll but I’d like to at least know the secret of it since no one from the movie has confirmed what it really was
Finally someone with some sense. That's obviously what the guy was asking to begin with lol @@spacefacefreak2
I would imagine that the "white powdery stuff" from scarface was not actually cocaine. Probably flour or cornstarch. So... If you have some of that in your pantry, you have a replica movie prop!
A guy salvaged the green goblin face off of the Happy Toys truck from the movie Maximum Overdrive.
theboyx3 I saw that recently on CZcams , he did an amazing job !
I saw that. I hope the truck still exists
I saw it here in Raleigh, at "Fear Fest". He did a wonderful job restoring it. At the same show, there was one of the trucks used to represent the monster's from "Jeepers Creepers".
A golden ticket from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Good one! Small but priceless.
If I could own one prop, it would be the lightsaber Sir Alec Guinness actually used on the set of Star Wars.
Oh man, how amazing would that be!? So hard to believe there was a time when nobody on the set had any clue just how valuable the most seemingly non-important movie props would be worth.
Yesterworld Entertainment Except George did. It's in his right entryway display case at his home on Skywalker Ranch.
CdrChaos I own a custom lightsaber simular to Old Bens. I got from Parkssabers
If owning that prop is the best thing, the second best thing is owning a replica of that prop made from the same original parts. I own the third best thing. A replica made from replicas of the original parts. The original was made up of old world war 1 plane parts and grenade pieces, a british sink knob, a vintage camera flash clamp and various other stuff. A guy spent years hunting down original vintage parts and built his own prop that is the closest you can get to what Alec Guinness used. He then decided to have all those pieces replicated and sold as kits. You can google Roman Prop MK3 to see what I'm talking about. That thing is heavy and holding that is the closest you can get to Alec Guiness's lightsaber without spending years and thousands hunting down antique military pieces.
chamoo232 I have one of those from Roman Props as well. Bespin Custom Props built mine. With the Crystal Focus sound card it is epic!
Absolutely riveting. Really great video!
Quinton Reviews why hi didn't expect to see you in these comments.
Hey there quinton!
Apologies for not replying sooner, but thank you!!
Mo mo no jo I jo)l lp lp
.m. m
For me I would have to have the actual Deloreon they used in back to the future.
Some people say, "my dream car is a Ferrari" or "Mustang". Mine is to own a DeLorean.
ECTO-1 from the first Ghostbusters for me, but yea, the BTTF DeLorean would be a close second choice.
The BTTF ride is no more :( . I only seen the train and 2nd Delorian there.
the Mad Max v8 Interceptor...then the Bullitt mustang....then maybe the Bandit...THEN ...the BTTF 2 Delorian (gotta have that Mr Fusion...)
The Bullitt Mustang prop car was just found a few weeks ago.
Puzzle box from Hellraiser
unfortunately we will never hear from you again, after you obtained it ;-)
olli m Well at not in true human form.lol
tenfeetsmall edge of the rabbit hole dammit I just post the same thing
JR Harlow ,we have such sights to show you
Just found this series today, watched all of them and totally fell in love with it. KEEP IT UP MAN! The creme always rises to the top!
Thank you so much! I am, and will do!
Yesterworld Entertainment
Are you a one man show so to speak? Your selection of clip bytes, information, narration, writting, everything is perhaps the best in this genre of CZcams....Seriously fine work.
Indeed I am, and thank you so much for your kind words! Comments like yours mean more than I can put into words, so thank you for taking the time to write them.
The book of the dead for evil dead, ark of the covenant for raiders of the lost ark, or any model from star wars.
I would love to have an actual, screen used General Lee, and yes, I would have to get into at least one dirt road car chase with it.
This was fascinating! Thank you!
Absolutely love all of your videos. Keep up the great work and can't wait to see what comes next!
I personally love Animation Cels, since they're an actual piece of what you're watching on the screen. I'd love to have a cel from one of my favorite Disney movies, like The Little Mermaid or The Lion King. But, one from an anime film, like Ghost in the Shell or Akira, better would be even cooler.
S&W M29 Revolver from "Dirty Harry"
Jimmy Dean I know, if love to see the revolver used in "Kids With Guns" as well.
I believe that pistol is in the NRA Museum, a donation from Eastwood.
Your videos are some of my favorite on the internet. Please keep going!
I can't wait for you to make it huge, love your channel from the beginning!
An original time machine Delorean, and a replica. One to display and one to drive.
BRO POST MORE I KEEP POST NOTIFACTIONS ON BECAUSE I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!!!!!
Super high quality! Love these videos
Just found your channel and I already love it! Keep up the awesome work!
I remember reading somewhere about Spielberg meeting Orson Welles and telling him that he had the original Rose Bud sled and apparently he started laughing saying something like "we burned it at the end of the film" so the one Spielberg has was just a copy lol
I'd love to own the T-800 arm from Terminator 2.
MrHEC381991 they make a replica ,you can find it at entertainmentearth.com.
I had the life size skull but sold it cause the eyes only stayed on for 30 seconds after you pressed a button.
I wanted the eyes on all the time.
If I could own any property... I'd say it would have to be one of the blue sonic screwdrivers.
Unluckysaurus yes whovians for life
Please make more videos! I love the videos you have made. The hollywood and movie ones are awesome. This channel will blow up
Such a great channel! Thank you.
The minifigures used in the live action portions of the lego movies. I mean that’d probably be kinda hard unless they had unique marking on them that made them unique from just ANY other regular set minifigure from the brand
And if not that, an R1 unit prop from star wars
I would love to own one of the original Good Guy (Chucky) dolls from the first Child's Play movie.
The Original robotic doll from the 1st Childs Play movie was stripped and the mechanics of it were used for the Crypt Keeper puppet on Tales from the crypt. The blue eyes are a dead give away.
Found you through the stitch’s great escape video, now going through your entire backlog of videos. I live for stuff like this, dude. Definitely worth the subscribe 👍
I’ve been and seen gus’ deathstar. A amazing piece and crazy story. So glad it’s in collectors hands
Jurassic park, shaving cream embryo canister. "Ah ah ah, you didn't say the magic word"
I would like to know what ever happened to Lilly Munster's bat necklace and Josette's music box from Dark Shadows
Love your videos man, very informative and entertaining, your production value is amazing. Keep it up!
Your photos and videos for things that don't have real photos or video are awesome 👏 great way to tell the story!
I would love to own one of the original chucky dolls
The ruby slippers were recovered last week!
Surf Wisely.
Dude your videos are AMAZING!!! Everything about them are always on point!!👍
Really enjoy the videos!!! Well done again. Keep it up please :)
Another phenomenal video. I truly do feel you are one of the best and most underrated creators on you tube. I look forward to every new upload from you. Your work is that impressive to me. It's an event every time. You should seriously consider working on making your own documentaries in the future. You are that talented.
Any prop? For me I would love the have the fully built version of Serenity which is the Firefly Class Mid Bulk Transport Ship that was used in filming for either the show Firefly, or the movie prop which appeared in the 2005 movie follow up to the television show! Of course why stop at just one movie or television prop, as I would love to have one of the working "arks" from the movie Damnation Alley as well, and then too there is the car driven by Mel Gibson in the movie The Road Warrior (the beat up one from that movie was my favorite) as well! I wouldn't mind have a complete outfit of Captain Malcom Reynolds from Firefly and when I say complete with everything from his boots to his brown coat to his firearm as well as holster, shirts and pants and accessories!!!!
These are quality videos, you are doing excellent work.
yo, you seem like a newer channel with a limited amount of content....But i'm subscribed because everything you have out is quality. Keep it up and look forward to your stuff in the future
I would love to have the photograph used in the final scene of The Shining.
Ive seen it on eBay, not the original of course .
I want Divine’s red dress from Pink Flamingoes 💃🏻
I have to say i really enjoy this channel! Keep up the good work!
I am so glad I found your channel, I find stuff like the stories of lost and/or Forgotten pieces of work from Movies media interesting and after seeing your video on Beastly Kingdom, I subbed right away. Keep it up! :D
the wildfire laboratory, but I would settle for the self destruct key.
I would love to own a jack skelington from the nightmare before christmas
I know it's cheesy but I want the working cosmic key from Masters of the Universe
This was good. I really wanna see more videos like this, but this is the best one on CZcams.
absolutely fascinating!
i cant believe you didnt include the galileo from star trek. theres a whole documentary on it.
I was not aware, but this has been added to my list ;)
This is a little weird but I would love to own some potion viles from Harry Potter
Love your videos! Very interesting and well researched... Liked! And subscribed! Peace from Tasmania!
The fact that Bruce in Finding Nemo is no-doubt named after the sharks from Jaws, is my new favorite little tidbit. Even if it's not entirely true, I'm sticjong with it haha
I would love to own Jaws.
I'd love to have the DMC DeLorean from BTTF,but I'd fit it with that flash as if I am about jump through time going 88mph like in the movie.
It's AMC (abbreviation for American Motor Company), not DMC.
Troodon AMC was a different car company. They made the pacer. He is correct in saying DMC
+Troodon
There are several glamor shots of the car that clearly show "DMC" on the hood in the movie.
Actually it's DMC (abbreviation for Delorean Motor Company) Do some research before you correct someone.
Awesome list! More more more!!!
Just read yesterday that the missing ruby slippers you mentioned here have been recovered!
I have the privilege to be the proud owner of the kangaroo from pulp fiction where Bruce Willis keeps his watch by his bedside I was able to buy this item at an auction for $200 3 years ago it's on my nightstand next to my bed and now it holds my cell phone
austin riley do you have any price on that? It sounds too amazing
The Time Machine from the 1960 movie.
The original appeared in an episode of "The Big Bang Theory"
I was so close to including this into this video! But decided to save it for a later video.
gordon.. I think Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, and Raj have it.
You can see this in Gremlins !
Great video, thanks!
Great video!!
