I have the Goal Zero 1500x and a 170 watt solar panel with two Battle Born batteries and living in Hawaii. With the sun blaring everyday I have no problem relying almost solely on my solar panel battery bank. I cook on a induction stove primarily. Love my 1500x.

I like the induction stove option. You can always look at more options to have other alternatives to get more stuff off your battery. You can other smaller solar stuff run off other smaller solar batteries. That would be a more redundant system too

One thing I've noticed testing burners for my van is most of the dual burner cooktops won't max one burner out at their max capacity, usually a smidge more than half like you are noticing, so a single burner can boil your water faster and heat up hotter than the dual burner.

I like the induction system! And…you could always keep a Coleman stove setup in the garage as backup. I plan for my entire system to be solar but will always practice the 7 P’s!!

That cooktop is gorgeous. I believe that particular brand will only draw about 800 watts per burner on medium(5) setting. Your woodwork is beautiful. Cooking with electricity rather than propane or butane is much dryer, safer, and cleaner.

I have an induction 4-burner range/oven by Frigidaire at home and love it. It is easy to use and to keep it clean. The only time you want the higher power on the induction top is when you are heating up the pan. Once water is boiling, it takes less energy to keep it boiling which means where you have standard 110/120 vs. the 220 for my stove, you can do a lot of cooking without really losing any function of one burner shifting to a lower power while you have one on high or power boost.
Overall induction does not just heat up the pan and food, far faster, it does not heat up your room or your van or RV. So the energy being used is not wasting the heat but using it efficiently. Moreover, there is less build up of cooking oils on your cabinets so in a small Camper/Van/RV, you will have a cleaner environment to eat and sleep and drive on down the road. When one is in vacation mode, the less cleaning required is a big plus.
We have an older RV and I want a two-burner induction for our motor home as I am spoiled by the ease of use of the induction range. Induction overall is safer and once you learn about how to use it, clean it, what power or temperature your favorite foods cook best at, there are no regrets for ditching natural gas/propane at all.
Nice video. Was your two-burner induction cooktop rated for an RV? We are looking at the difference between those so rated and the ones which are for household use.

Love the design of Your Van. stopped to see the GZ Battery demo and found it interesting. I've had a GZ1400 since 2018. Bought the whole house kit with four back up batteries in Feb this year but difficulties getting it connected due to rural area of MT and few electrcians who will be bothered yet alone actually respond to your request to call back when all you leave is your # and name. So meantime we will get there but trying to catch up to newer GZ posts. Instead I love your van and can see some options for improving say an older van I'm looking for to update. I've narrowed my search down to Pleasure Ways and A couple of others but PW is so far leading in my interest. I want gas no diesel though I used to think diesel until I discovered the cost to maintain one over the cost of gasoline. Still learning and still open minded. But your woodwork and classy fridge and simple products yet high end looking is appealing. I couldn't afford Iknow but I can drool. Nice job in showing what your GZ could do too by the way.

@@bprowd I have 3X100W solar panels from renogy on the roof! And I’ve never used a newave induction but I’d imagine it’s pretty similar. A simple meal might take out 5-10% battery
Many pros and i would say one con to consider ....If you hsve a pacemaker induction is bad for you because intereference with magnetic fields of the two.
You can save a bit of power by putting a lid on pans and using a kettle to boil water.

i think if you go to the website - on any goal zero over ?? 1500, you can get an attachment to wire it to your alternator to power up too? I think.
If you are going to cook with electric, you should by a system with LiFePo4 batteries.
Those batteries support a lot more cycles, you will were out the battery very fast if you do this.
The negative with LiFePo4 is that the energy density is lower....

@@AnkeneyVanBuilds A NMC (lithium-manganese-cobalt-oxide) battery have a lower 100% DOD cycle life than 2000. The 2000 cycle life is achieved by having a buffer on the top and the bottom. (All "solar generators" and EVs have those buffers)..
In comparison, a LiFePo4 have a cycle life of 2000 at 100% DOD, but can have 6000 at 80%DOD.
In addition a lithium battery also degrade as a function of voltage, temperature and time.
LiFePo4 have a lower cell voltage, and thereby a lower calendar degradation.
Bug again, it's less dense. So you get a larger unit or a smaller battery in kWh.
A tip if you only need more storage, and already have a Goal Zero...: You can get a 12V LiFePo4 battery, and use the 12V charger cable to recharge the Goal Zero.
In addition to an increase in storage, by having a 12V LiFePo4 connected to the Goal zero you are at the same time reducing the cycles the non-replaceable battery gets...

Induction cooktop is the future of cooking.
Use the yeti as backbup. Go with a proper lithium battery set up Min 300 watt hrs

Great video! Question: how is the Dometic CRX 65 connected to the Goal Zero? It was delivered to me with just a black and red wire. I have the Yeti 1000x but no idea how to connect it.
Great stress test. I'm looking at all in one kits like the Yeti 3000x or the 6000x for power. I like the induction and plan to have a stow away one. Curious is it would handle an Arfryer or Instapot.
I do like the speed of camp stoves for boiling water. And would use smaller propane tanks.
It all depends on the specs of an airfryer and instapot. But Id be confident in the Goal zero! I was thoroughly impressed with the stress test.
Will this be the only power your installing or you’ll start here first?
@@1lifewanderlust I use my small Instant Pot with my 1000 Watt Inverter and no problem. I think my Instant pot is only 800 Watts.

I have followed your build and find your explanations easy to understand and very helpful for my build plan. Thanks for testing the gold zero. I think an actual cook test would have helped us a little more. Anyone can boil water and frankly a short high load is great but if I can’t cook a full meal without depleting my batteries a cooktop is useless as is the GZ. I can’t live on boiled water. I didn’t notice the GZ model either. I may have missed that. I’m leaning to the Titan. Cheers from Canader eh!
I know!!! I'm sorry about that. I had all the intentions of doing that but I guess I don't own any pans that work with induction. I would feel confident that the goal zero could easily run the induction stove for full meals. Ive seen another video of a guy testing it out, cooked for over 30 minutes and only lost about 15% battery

The problem is the Lifecyle Yeti's have a 500 fully charged to fully discharge, while battleborn batteries have 5000 cycles. PSA
It’s actually an expected 2000 cycles! After 500 cycles of being fully discharged it’s still works at 80%!

Great video. I was thinking of getting a goal zero like yours. Problem is: I have as 12v many devices and goal zero doesn’t have many 12v ports. I would like to connect a maxi fan plus fridge plus lights and water pump but how could I do that??
Buy the max output cable and wire that to a fuse block. Then wire all your 12V to the fuse block :) check out my “finishing touches video” I explain it there. In my next build series I’ll make a dedicated video explaining it better!

The induction runs off a 110V plug (same as your standard wall plug in a house) so I plugged an extension cord into the goal zero and plugged the stove into the extension cord!

I have a Bluetti eb70 and Goal Zero 500x. Goal zero loses battery while idle but the Bluetti doesn't. Love them both. Different lithium.
What do you think would be enough to power...ready? Here goes! 2 laptops, 2 monitors, a/c, fridge, tankless hot water heater, induction stove top lights, .. I think that's about it.. 2 phones

I’m personally a fan of the 3000x. Especially in winter. The battery last SO long without being charged

Not true actually. Induction is newish , but there are several chefs and restaurants who are beginning to switch over, particularly in Europe.
Have you thought about running a 2-battery setup for the van to run/charge accessories via a 2nd car battery?
The Goal zero does have a 12V cigarette plug charger that can plug into your car and charge while it is running! I haven't messed around with that before but that would be a good option to have in the cloudy days

The goal zero is a plug and play system with a built in inverter. It simplifies the electrical system quite a bit!

If you maxed out the power use like that and totally drained the battery using that much power at once....would there be negative affects on the battery? or other parts of the goal zero?
Goal zeros are rated to do 2000 drains from 100% to 0%. After the 2000 the battery life will not perform better than 85%

Hey!! I purchased the Max out put cable from goal zero and wired it to a fuse block. Then wired it all to that! I show what that looks like in the video linked bellow. As far as the 110V appliances. I used an extension cord and plugged it into the outlets on the goal zero.

No that just helps it recharge. Doesn’t effect the output!

Honestly don’t remember exactly. I just followed the instructions. I believe it just screws into the counter

Why is the water pump so noisy? Is that normal with all water pumps?
No it’s not that noisy. It’s something with my microphone that it picks it up and amplified it. Very strange. It’s really not that loud

Plugged an extension cord into the yeti. Then the stove into the extension cord!

My goalzero yeti setup caught on fire in my truck causing damage. I'd think again if you're going to install their Chinese made goods in your vehicles. I've been emailing them for weeks and they will not reply to me. I expected better from what I thought was the top company in this industry.
