  • If you need to remove music from dialogue or split vocals and instrumentals into stems, I found a really effective way to do it for cheap.

    As a young person currently trying to start out in the Film industry, I really struggle with what to think about this whole “AI revolution”. It’s quite impressive and useful in tools like you showed in the video and I am totally happy to try AI-tools and integrate them into my workflows to make a better product, but I can also see how this would lead productions to not get it right in the first place on set because they can more easily fix it in post.
    I also think it won’t be that long before AI can do a “good enough” postproduction on its own, which I don’t think is a positive. I think people don’t want to watch some soulless content created only by AI and I also think that people like to be creative themselves and work together with others to make a film instead of pushing the start-button on an AI-generator. Unfortunately, I think most audiences won’t realize this for some time and until they do there is no financial incentive for producers to stop pushing for more AI-automation.
    Well, maybe I see this to dark, but I struggle to not see it this way sometimes. Anyway, if it comes to this, we can all still work together in construction, I guess.

    Thanks Tom, that’s probably the most impressive tool of this nature I’ve heard. Will definitely check it out. Also, I’m very much with you on your attitude to AI, embracing it where possible etc. Very different for actors and writers I would say, but we audio folks can’t simply pretend it’s not going to be prevalent.

    Hey Tom. Thank you for being the AI plug. I was wondering if you could cover or provide insight into how you remove that annoying 15-18k tone / hum that is present in so many dx tracks, sfx tracks, etc. I figure it's high frequency noise from lighting or some electronic. I've never had luck getting RX de-hum to zap it out. I just use the horizontal RX selector across the board and the gain tool to get rid of it - but this always feels dangerous. Sometimes I just leave it in to be honest, because it is so hard to even hear. Was just curious on your thoughts about this.

    • @ThomasBoykin
      @ThomasBoykin  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I can only hear up to maybe 17k now, and you will find the OG mixers can maybe hear up to 10k. If it’s loud enough to hear I’ll zap it out with izotope like you said. Otherwise don’t worry bout it.

      @ThomasBoykin Appreciate the advice! I can't hear it either, but the line I see in RX bugs me. It's a relief to know it's ok to leave it in 😅

    Hi Thomas, thank you for your videos. Are you seriously considering leaving the film industry? I share your concern about AI ... but won't houses and cars be repaired by AI, too?

    • @ThomasBoykin

      To be completely honest I am growing tired of looking at a screen all day. It’s gonna be 15-20 years at least before the bots take over skilled trades.

  • @StuartHetzler
    @StuartHetzler Před 4 měsíci +1

    Pretty amazing software, but it saddens me greatly. Everyone gets on this "learn it or get left behind!" mentality, but the reality is that these AI tools are making our jobs easier, and when jobs get easier the pay gets lower because more people can do it. Sure, you can still work in music and sound if you learn all these AI tools, but now you're up against some 19 year old kid in Pakistan using the same tools, getting the same results, and charging 10% of what you are.

    • @ThomasBoykin
      @ThomasBoykin  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I agree. That’s why I’m kinda like “do I really want to go down this road, or do I want to do a 460 no scope and walk away”?

    • @stevegeorge7773
      @stevegeorge7773 Před 4 měsíci

      And that same kid in Pakistan will still use it, under cut with cheaper prices and do it faster. 🤕
