I’m a single older lady on a pretty tight budget. Your videos are and have been so helpful to me. I appreciate the time and effort you lovingly put into your content. I’m sure you are showing the majority of ladies with families. However they are watched and perceived positively but many more people. Thank you so much for sharing. Much love from Ohio ♥️
Hi Linda, your so right her videos are very informative and help families alot.
I’m a young college girl on a tight budget and I find these tips helpful as well!
Yeah I can’t wait to try some out as I start working retail and there is no food court near by . Also In Ohio
@@SouthernHomemaker2023 !
Hi I agree it isn't always in my cabinet though
The sauce you made before you added the cheese is the same white sauce my mom would add to new potatoes or english peas and just use salt and pepper. You are making me remember how my mom would budget her meals to feed 6 with only one income before dad got his ssi at 45. She made too much for food stamps but not enough to pay all the extra doctor bills and buy food and household bills. Some how by God's grace and moms saving ways we kept the house and stayed fed. Those were lean times.
That would be a great story to hear about from your past. You thought of writing a book?
That does sound yummy!
Thank you for sharing this. So many people fall through the cracks, and don't "qualify" for assistance. Making it work and keeping the family fed is so important.
@@jgodwin717 The thing about the whole food stamp deal was she was only over by about $3.00 dollars.
@@carollott3466 that's horrible!!!
I live in Texas but born and from Oklahoma. I used to work at an Atwoods and a customer made a funny I'll never forget.
"Oklahoma is just the biggest county in Texas"
Hahaha!!! So true!
You, Julia, and Frugalfitmom are like the best channels that do content like this here on CZcams! I’m a fan from PH 🇵🇭
Thank you! That's good company to be in, I'm fans of JP and FFM, too! :)
Yesss! Agree 100%! 3 of my favorite channels
I 👍 agree. You all check out Miranda's channel too- Running on Plants. She makes super cheap meals also. 😃
I concur!!!!
Yes there a few of my fav too i love she's in her apron too and Jen Chapin if u haven't seen them check em out there all great!!
Props to your kids. I saw their reflection in the microwave and they patiently waited for you to finish your video.
Good Parenting!
I love the sausage gravy and biscuits! I laughed when you compared "Delux Mom" to "Standard Issue Mom" 😂🌻 It got me thinking...My Mom was "Fend for Yourselves Mom" ! I really appreciate your channel especially the budget meal ideas! Thank you 😊
Lol when I was little we had fend for yourself friday!😂 we all to find something in the fridge to eat.
I love biscuit and gravy as a single dad it is a nice quick meal and sometimes breakfast for dinner is a nice pleasant change of pace. Great video!!
Glad to know I'm not alone in my dislike of avocados!! I've tried to like them so many times, but I just can't do it!
I think I tried them once in a recipe or something and I threw up. Same with tofu.
I love them but developed an allergy to them.
Biscuits and gravy and grits---two things every self respecting southerner should know how to cook! I'm from Missouri, I don't know if I'm Northern or Southern so I'm trying to learn both LOL! I love the real life type video. ty
Represent 417 the Ozarks. Biscuits and gravy. Sunday meals in my home
Another Missouri girl! I live in Columbia. We are good mix of both, we get to enjoy the foods of both!
Missouri here as well. I was amazed when a neighbor told me she did sausage gravy from a can. What in the world? I had to teach her how easy it was to make from scratch.
To make a gravy or cream sauce without oil or butter.
In a dry pan, put the flour and toast it over a low heat and until it begins to change color stir constantly.
This will add a slight nuttiness to the flour, the darker the color the stronger the nutty flavor.
When the flower has reached a very light brown add the liquids and cook as you normally would for a sauce.
I’ve done this many times and it works very well especially if you’re adding a broth like chicken, beef, or turkey that is left over from something you’ve cooked and it has its own grease on the top.
I have also made several gravies out of just flour and water when nothing else was available, with salt and pepper it turns out really good.
"I'm not a deluxe mom... I'm just a standard issue mom." -Merch! I tell ya
I would buy it!
I buy a big bag of powdered milk and I find it works well in recipes and is very economical and shelf stable.
Powdered unflavored coffee creamer also is a 1 to 1 substitute for powdered milk in almost every recipe and it thickens wonderfully! As prices go up, it has been super helpful to cut costs! Not the healthiest option but effective. :)
You can make pasta butter and tuna macaroni with tuna andmayonaise
Hot dogs potatoes carrots and tomatoes sauce. Chinese rice with leftover
In my opinion - you can never go wrong with breakfast for dinner!! And it’s usually pretty cheap too! Love the 2 pasta dishes too…I try to watch how much pasta I eat though. I could eat if for every meal if I really wanted 😂👍
Sausage gravy is a great meal to use up milk about to go bad. Also if you don't have biscuits you can serve it over steamed potatoes or toast.
I'm so amazed your daughter stood right there while you filmed and didn't make a sound!!! (Reflections) lol mine would be all over me...mom mom momma!!!! 👩
Thank you so much! We are finishing up college and about to welcome our first baby girl! Your videos are incredibly helpful :) Thanks, Mindy!
Fry the tomato paste too 🙏
First day of school we did a big pancake breakfast for our kindergartener and the neighbor kids that he’s made friends with. Every day sense then he has had a granola bar 🤷♀️ it’s all about balance lol
Saw your $3 meals from Aldi x 3 nights...really nice delicious looking meals. Also looked like some had leftovers for lunch the next day! Looking forward to your cooking creativity!
Love it!! From one standard issue Mom to another 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Dear Mindy, I so much enjoy your channel. This post was a little carb heavy for me BUT I got great meal ideas for my grandsons, Henry (9yo) and Shep (4yo) who eat mass quantities of food. Fortunately they eat everything! We shop Aldi for their great prices on fruits and vegetables which are about 80% of our diet. Blessings
Biscuits and gravy are such a strange breakfast combo for us Canadians. My neighbors in the upper Peninsula of Michigan would order it at the truck stop so that is how I got introduced to it. Now creamed peas on toast, that was something we would have for lunch in our household. A can of peas half drained, a couple of cups of milk, a dash of butter salt and pepper and thickened with some cornstarch. It was a great way to use up stale bread as well.
Love that all of these ideas are kid friendly!! Good job Mama!!
Thanks for the ideas!! Will be adding these meals to our meal plan 🤗
This video is how I learned how to make sausage gravy from scratch and I always come back to watch it again.
Love these ideas! Can't wait to try them with my family!! Thanks!!
The sausage pasta dish looked fabulous!
Always enjoy seeing your creativity with these videos! And I love how you use up what you have on hand (like parm packets 🙂).
I love watching your videos and try to be very intentional in my kitchen as well! Thanks for sharing!
I found you through Frugal fit mom and I liked these recipes….new ideas are great!! Thank you for sharing!! 💗
I love your videos! I am single and on a tight budget and although I like to cook, I run out of ideas. I’ve done several of your meals and they were delicious! Thank you for doing what you do!
Great video! Thank you for the inspiration.
Love the song while making breakfast.
Your content is just so great!! Loving these meal ideas! Thank you again 🙃
Love your videos!! You are so warm and comforting as you describe your amazing recipes...Thank you Mindy! ❤️
Seriously my FAVORITE type of videos!!!
That broccoli Mac and cheese looked delicious! Love cheese! 🧀
Thank you I love these videos!
Thanks for sharing! We’re having hobo meals this weeks.. lots of ground deer and veggies to use up 😋
I absolutely LOVE your videos, however I'm constantly Googling what you're cooking with as in in the UK. Half and half : single cream, biscuits : scones , 1 cup : 240g etc. It's a huge learning curve 😂🤗
That is our favorite breakfast sausage for biscuits and gravy. So good! We tend to double it and make a HUGE meal out of it. It's a once or twice a year thing so I don't mind going big, but it's so worth the calories!
Also, you may never ha e seen a kid that won't eat veg with cheese, but I ha e TWO of them!
Great video! Always love your videos!
Thank you for the ideas. I love watching your videos.
I'm so glad!
when i was stationed in Italy , I made homemade pizza by using flour tortillas and pizza sauce some shredded cheese , and you can use any veggies and meat you have on hand . bake in the oven or on a grill to basically melt cheese. Let just say that Italians put anything on pizzas included potatoes , peas , eggs etc
Omg “standard issue mom” 😂😂😂literally dying 😂😂😂 me too Mindy,me too🙌
Sis can you do some more quick crockpot ones? Family of 6, homeschooling and on the go. Or links if you've done prior. Thank you ahead of time.
I have a crockpot video coming out in a couple weeks. I've done several in the past, you might find them if you do a search on my channel page. :)
Yes I like these too. I only have one kid but work 5 night shifts a week: have off Monday’s & Wednesdays when I try to do the chores and I need to exercise,& get in shape.
I also have panic attacks when I cook so I love simple options like crockpot, one pot,& casseroles.
I’m a Newlywed full time homemaker & saving money now for our next stage of life & love your videos!! Thankyou so much.
If you wanted to bulk up the biscuits and sausage gravy for dinner, you could have added scrambled or fried eggs, and if scrambled the eggs, you could even add a veggie or two to make it “healthier”. Or have fried apples as a side.
Everything looks great!
Yes ma'am. I've clicked your play list snf used links below. Your content is very efficient yet thorough.
My husband grew up with only his mom working. His version of biscuits and gravy is with boiled eggs instead of sausage.
That is interesting! I haven’t heard of that!
Wow!!!!! I'm not a new cook but tend to overdo it often when cooking from scratch and then I get burned out and start to hate cooking. I tried all 3 of these recipes because I love the low cost challenge and the convenience factor of using what you bought for other meals. My family LOVED all 3!! Welll done. I can't believe how much better these biscuits and gravy were than I've had at restaurants and hotel breakfasts and so easy with your recipe! Thank you ❤.
I know what you mean about dragging out the food processor for something small like breadcrumbs. I learned from someone else to Save The Empty cereal bags and when I need to crush something like nuts or breadcrumbs or really anything that you're going to bread with I just throw it in there and then use your rolling pin or even a can or even just step on it a few times! The cereal bag was going to be garbage anyway so now you've got another use out of it and then it can go into the trash!
Definitely can't wait to make all of these!! I forgot about biscuits and gravy. I think that's what I'm making tonight for dinner!! Thanks for sharing ❤️
Hope you enjoy!
@@SeeMindyMom thank u!
Thank you so much for your videos! You've saved our asses several times!
So glad I could help!
I’m definitely going to be making the sausage & gravy and the hamburger helper meal this weekend!
Hi Mindy! I love your channel. You make simple, wholesome “real” meals that won’t break the bank. I have recommended your channel to my sons and their families for fantastic meal ideas!
Hi, Jane! Thanks for the kind words!
I’m not from the south but biscuits and gravy is one of my favorite foods! Definitely gonna make some soon! Also broccoli Mac and cheese is a go-to for me. I like to make it in my instant pot for added convenience :)
Just went back to full-time studying after years of having work. Wasn't willing to stop eating yummy food so stumbling across you channel is just what I needed.
Kat, I’m so glad I could give some ideas! Good luck with your studies! 😊
Great ideas! I love to use pork sausage in stuff. You only need a little.❤
Great ideas for meals.
Thank you! 😊
You just gave me an idea for a meal for dinner that can make lunches using leftovers. The pasta but since I only have elbow pasta I have to use that with shredded taco cheese but it will have to do. Thank you for helping me not feel guilty about using what I have to make meals stretch until I can go food shopping again.
Elbow pasta and taco cheese will be great!
I'm nosy. I 💘 grocery hauls
I think we’re all nosey !!!! LOL
Love your videos thanks ❤️ 😊
Looks good! With that dish the bread made into simple garlic toast would have been on target!
Omg, you're music is so awesome on your vids. It just puts me in a fun and awesome mood🤓👏👏thank you!
I'm from NJ and biscuits and gravy are one of my favorite meals!!
I made biscuits & gravy earlier last week. Homemade turkey sausage, dairy free gravy so I won't get sick and homemade fluffy giant biscuits. We live in Maine, this is a staple for us for anytime of day. Also, we're in the process of moving to an entirely different state, so have some cheaper meal options & ideas is very nice! Where we are moving to actually has an Aldi which has been helpful overall!
I have the same camo shirt you're wearing in the intro! Love your videos they help a lot
Great video and you are a Deluxe Mom. Would you believe that I didn’t discover biscuits and gravy until I was in my 30s-my mom didn’t make a lot of recipes with gravy so I wasn’t exposed until I went to a brunch buffet and decided to try it and now I love it!
Love this video! We like to go out on our boat for a week or two at a time, and I’ve only got a microwave, fridge/freezer and cooktop to work with, so stovetop ideas are especially helpful. And now that I say this, I feel like a real dummy…we could easily add a toaster oven to our appliances. Guess it took this video yo engage my brain!
We have a really nice toaster oven too, it has a rotisserie, air fryer, and dehydrate function. There are so many options these days!
@@Lisawhatshersname Who is yours made by? I have one here at the house that’s a toaster oven, rotisserie and though I’ve never used it, there’s some sort of grill on the top. Air fryer would be quite useful.
I use can milk and add water. It makes the gravy really good
Great ideas!😋😋
Can you do a video that is not carb heavy, higher in protein that does not include beans? Some of us have health problems such as diabetes hat can’t eat all those carbs. Beans, while they are high in protein, are a carb overload for diabetics and mostly a no no. It’s a challenge that I struggle with trying to feed my mom and dad.
Gracias por tus videos
sweet one!
Thanks 😁
I live in Wisconsin and I didn’t have biscuits in gravy until I was in my 20’s 🤣 but now I LOVE it!
My husband was that way too! Poor Wisconsin boy married a southern girl…he had no idea what I put in front of him the first time I served milk gravy! 😂 Bless him…he loves biscuits and gravy now!
“Standard issue mom” 🤣 I feel that in my soul!!! 😂❤️
I love your channel! As a British person I am mystified by what you call biscuits. I don’t even know what they would be called here! Scones maybe?!
Scones is right. I found that I really like scones with gravy!
Hannah, I think they would be similar to unsweetened scones, made with a little more baking powder so they get fluffy. Butter or shortening gives them their unique texture. I love both scones and biscuits! If you’re up for a little baking, you could Google a recipe for baking powder biscuits and try some, fresh and homemade. They’re really easy to make and it would be a fun experiment! 😊
I love your awesome kids!
I’m in love with your channel!
Everything looks good, Mindy. Hungry now, LOL! Blessings! Jackie in upstate NY
Milk is high where u are! I'm in Kentucky USA. AND a gallon of milk is 2.15a gallon so it's crazy to think a half gallon is that price! But I've noticed that there Are things u get that are cheaper then here! Love ur channel
Looooove this!
I quite often have the orange or apple as a dessert in the evening if I need a snack and something to munch on I chop it up and snack on it you can have a sauce with it you want one. banana custards a old favourite in Uk chop up a banana have custard with it you can have a rich tea biscuit or nice biscuit with it optional of course.
I’m watching this in Feb 2022 and it’s amazing how much the prices have increased. The sausage is now 2.99/lb , the oranges are now 4.??/bag and the pasta is not available. These meals would still be inexpensive, relatively speaking. Thanks for the ideas!
You make such excellent videos. I really liked this one.
Hi Mindy! Great video! They all look delicious! I really want the Mac and cheese with broccoli! YUM! I really need to go to Aldi when I see those prices wow! I have one so close to my house now. Thank you for sharing!
Time for an aldi trip this week
Mindy, I’m a new subscriber and I’m SO grateful to you for your amazing advice. I’ve got to get my family’s food budget under control and your ideas and inspiration are so helpful. Thank you so much! ❤️❤️However I do have a question I wonder if you could chew on-we are big eaters around here and your awesome, thoughtful portions would result in a strike here at my house! Do you have any ideas for cheap sides / desserts that would add bulk for big eaters?
My husband and I are big eaters. I tend to bulk up with eggs, pasta, rice, potatoes, or bread. I make a lot of dishes where the other ingredients are "mixed" into these things. So chorizo with tons of eggs, or a half pound of meat in with a lot of pasta and sauce and veg, or some veggies and chicken mixed with a lot of rice. Casseroles. Or a big side of fried potatoes or mashed potatoes with the veg and meat. Soup with a big loaf of homemade crusty bread. Carbs are satisfying in meals.
Hi Mindy I love watching your food video’s.
Glad you like them!
These recipes look fantastic. I'll be making them. And I love your laugh by the way. You are awesome Mindy.
Also saw where you can use mandarin orange sections to make a cake if you had any left over.
Bought the ingredients to try it this week. Excited to taste!! Hopefully my husband approves lol
How did they taste?
Thank you for your creative and informative family meals videos. I don't if this will be helpful for you, but I keep a large spice container of taco seasoning which I believe I purchased at Costco. I think using that is much less expensive then purchasing the individual packets.
I’m not gonna lie, when I seen what you bought Mindy I was thinking ‘3 meals?!?!’ But you did well! Cheese sauce makes every vegetable better 😂
Right?! We're big cheese fans around here, if you can't tell. LOL
Great menu as always 👍
The first meal is biscuits and gravy?!! I like where your head's at.
I'm in Australia and I'm amazed at how cheap your prices are, either way I love your videos
