  • Sharing a quick video on my naturally dyed Easter egg experiment this year. I used red onion skins, yellow onion skins, a head of purple cabbage and a splash of vinegar in each dye pot.
Do you have a favorite way to naturally dye eggs? I'd love to hear about it in the comment box below.
    Thanks so much for watching!

Those are the most glorious Easter eggs I've ever seen. Just lovely.

I work in a produce department and had customers tell me they wanted me to save onion peelings and I never knew why exactly until I watched this video. 😂

Cool, kind of Gothic looking eggs. Very creative

My mom used to dye eggs with onion peels too! And coffee grounds.

Coffee would be fun to try. Tea too. ☕️

So beautiful, and I love that you start with raw eggs rather than hard boiling them first...saves a step. Last year I blew out eggs and dyed with onion, red cabbage, and some old madder I had. Lots of fun.

Beautiful! If you gently rub them with vegetable oil, they'll be glossy.

Beautiful eggs! We will be dying our eggs this week in preparation for Easter this weekend. Turmeric will dye the eggs yellow as well.

I agree about turmeric, it dyes the eggs beautifully. I would’ve used it, but it turns out I didn’t have any in my pantry this year. Dang. :)

Curcuma gives a range of golden yellow colors. I also cover dyed eggs with a thin layer of oil, which gives a polished look.

Beautiful blue from the cabbage. Have you tried placing a leaf or flower and tying it with string before dyeing? It gives a beautiful natural print on the egg. Happy hunting.

Some day I want to wrap eggs in a thrifted silk men's tie. I am not sure the dye would be natural, but the silk is.

How did the eggs taste? If you're using natural dye, I imagine your not wasting those eggs after the hunt. When I was a kid we'd make deviled eggs and most of the eggs had color on the whites that had gotten through the shells. If color can get through, so can flavor.

Iwas looking for that answer as well. I guess onion flavored eggs would be tolerable in an egg salad?
