- When it comes to the Miss America pageant, we're used to seeing contestants who dance, sing or play an instrument. But this year, you'll want to keep an eye on Miss Virginia. Biochemist Camille Schrier was crowned Miss Virginia at the end of June thanks in part to her impressive demonstration in the talent portion of the program. Sporting a lab coat, she blew away the competition with a colorful science experiment showing the catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. "Science really is all around us," she told the crowd to cheers. #InsideEdition
Forget about the dancing, the woman is literally t-posing in the thumbnail.
a man of worth
Woo
I wish I commented that.
😂😂
Yo I saw you on EmKay’s video
It might not be the most amazing science demonstration, but it's definitely something big and noticable and quick. They don't have a ton of time on stage. I think she did great
whole lotta hater trolls here, as usual, people who themselves don't do a damned thing interesting attacking somebody else just because they can
right
and pretty safe :)
I wish you guys would realize that it’s not about the difficulty of the experiment. The experiment was interesting enough and something different to what the judges always see🙄 I think it was pretty creative and it was meant to be simple.
Nah, Miss Vermont did this a few years back.
feeedyourhead Likewise, so many other contestants have already sung, and yet we still get people singing on stage.
All the salty comments - she said it's targeted towards kids, to show that science is fun. I am sure as a professional biochemist, she's had much much more training than elephant toothpaste. Plenty of school kids possess the talents of other contestants who chose to sing and dance and i don't see nobody picking that up. it's a pageant stage not a conference. She's made a smart choice, less is more, and it did achieve the impact she intended to achieve. It's about the powerful message she's sending, not the actual technicality of the experiment!
I loved science in elementary/middle school but it becomes less fun in college when math is involved plus hours upon hours of memorizing stupid s**t (I’m looking at you o-chem)
@@flanagamer combinatorics is your friend
She’s only creating high expectations for many average girls that will just lead to low self esteem if they can’t keep up. What about all the girls whose talents don’t apply to the STEM fields? I am so sick of Big Corporations pretending to care about women just to trap them into a field that they may end up feeling like wage slaves. What’s wrong with being a teacher? Without teachers, whose going to teach all the STEM students?

Omg I did the same thing for my science fair
It's called elephant toothpaste
Cupcake Animations I did that too
I did it in the Second Grade and didn't even win anything 😒🙂
When I saw this, I thought, “This is elephant toothpaste ON CRACK.” Maybe “mammoth toothpaste” might be more appropriate?
Her presentation skill is top notch too
I thought it said, “How Miss.Virginia lost her crown thanks to science.”
@Shlok Chitnis glad to know I'm not the only one
@Shlok Chitnis Same!
Shlok Chitnis sane
Shlok Chitnis same
She did exchange her crown for another, though. Thanks to science. 😉
0:19 that is an automatic disqualification
LOOOOOL
Why?
It was actually really good
How
Kids do this in middle & high school 😩 I--
Ororo D yup this vain grown woman is as smart as a jr high kid... I'm so0o0o0o0 impressed.... well not really. Long as she's not stupid enough to believe evolution... REPENT AND FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST.
@@christianman5093 Nice bait, you alt right incel.
Ororo D yeh I said that we did it a few weeks ago and I did it in yr 10
Christian Man evolution is scientifically proven actually
Christian Man plus half of religion dosent even make sense
though the experiment seems pretty simple and easy, it’s the message that she intended to send is for a really good cause.
Oldest science trick in the books😂
Science

They still make bread....the same way.......but.......people STILL buy it....
For those of you asking why she 'didn't do something more difficult'...First of all, the point was to make herself stand out from everyone else (which she did, and she WON). Secondly, some of the more complex reactions take more time to set up and to actually see a reaction happen than she probably had on stage. These more complicated experiments also typically have more toxic/ hazardous chemicals that would have taken way too long to set up before her act and clean up before the next talent came on stage.
Congratulations, you made my 6th grade science fair project
Congrats!!!! So........when will you be graduating to the 7th grade???
I went to see Miss America and omg it was awesome
Oh she should totally win Miss America. It would be so great for girls to see that talent doesn’t have to be artsy and feminine, it can be having a knack for science or math.
She said it might be a little different. But I saw Miss America talent competition and she did the exact same thing on the video.
Regardless, she won the whole thing. Congrats to her
I think it is unique and creative. I don’t understand why everyone is being so hating.
The talent is not the experiment. The talent is public speaking and making science accessible, fun and interesting to children. Being an ambassador of science.
Thought it will be something more interesting or challenging.. 😐
Now I don't know if it's worst to even mention it.. 😐
Worse*
hmmmm.......you must be an English major.....
I prefer swimsuit. It was meant to give hot chicks the crown . She thinks she is so special as a pharmacist 🙄
And she is now Miss.America
AND SHE WON MISS AMERICA 2020
IF EVERY TEACHER WERE AT LEAST HALF OF THE EXCITEMENT THIS EXPERIMENT SHOWCASED, AMERICA WOULD HAVE SMARTER GRADUATES 🎓
They should get Simon from AGT to be a judge ..
I can just picture Sheldon Cooper shaking his head
CONGRATS CAMILLE! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Didn’t Miss Vermont do the same thing 3 years ago?
Im sooo happy someone finally did this, good for her and can't wait to see what she does next
Miss America!!
Country Roads, take her home....! :D
As awesome as this is, she broke two major rules in lab safety. She didn’t pull her hair back and she wore dangling jewelry.
Sarah Chambers She wasn’t dealing with fire and she wasn’t in an actual lab. How many national pageants have you won?
Whooo! Go Miss Virginia! I’m from Virginia!
BBC article about this called it an "experiment". It was really a demonstration.
They always look so mature and older for their age. I don’t understand why I’m still stuck looking like I’m 16-19 at 25. It’s not fair lol.
By coincidence, demonstration of my hidden talent also involves a drop cloth and safety goggles.
Finally something different!!!! Science!
Everyone in here belittling her science obviously have never taken a science class. What’s she supposed to do? Set up some agar plates and talk about the incubation period and different bacterium? She did something big and flashy as a performance that was also science. Some of y’all need to remove the stick from yalls butts
Dammit, I did that for my school's science fair. Couldn't she have picked something more... Scientific?
ICloudydust or something more complex..
@@TheEjimenez Yes! Exactly.
she was thinking in something visually impressing and simple for the IQ of the jury
ICloudydust how exactly did you turn that into a science fair experiment? Like, what were you measuring?
What did you expect? Counting dark matters particles using energy peaks??? So boring..
She should demonstrate the Briggs Rauscher reaction.
Lady you have our respect 🥼🥼🥼
Yay i live in Virginia ❤❤
How tf is that talent?!?
I usually don't care about pageants, but Miss Virginia is one of a kind.
Remember.....the state of Virginia's motto: Virginia is for Lovers!!!!
I SAW HER TODAY
Yes represent us Virginia-ers!
"How Miss Virginia Won her crown Using T-pose"
Way to go ❤️🙌🏻
WOOOOOOO VIRGINIA!!!!
She is intelligent!!!!!! Off course, not because of this small experiment! But just look how fast and articulate she is speaking, here regard is also intelligent, what a perfect lady! I think we will see her in very important roles in life, like the ambassador of UNICEF, next Mrs. President of the US, etc.
The Nordic Track ad with James Brown singing was the best part of this video!
Beautiful and smart, perfection
She was passionate beyond belief.
She won
Cool i live in Virginia
Finally, something different.
Love your channel
0:06, I love that piece, Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody 6. Where is that from? I want to hear the whole piece played by her but can't find a video anywhere.
I meet Miss Virginia at my school
"meet" or "met"....witch is it DB?????
@@cheetahobx thank you for noticing
Miss Vermont did the sAme thing three years ago this is legit 3rd grade science
Even used the same "science is all around us"
That's what I said too. She should be stripped of her title.
She basically did a New England Patriots and spied on the competition and copied.
Good! Science is really important rn especially when talking about climate change.
Go Camille!
Being a scientist myself, I say YES!
She won Miss America
She certainly wowed me with her personality and not her looks
Miss Virginia came to my school
Isn’t she like a biology major or something? I get she’s smart but she probably should’ve chosen a different experiment 🤷♀️
but that was like a high school science experiment
I think it’s amazing how she chose science but this is something people do in high school :/
I really like that they chose a smart girl and even though she didnt wear a skimpy outfit the entire time she won.
Heat is not released from the breaking of bonds it is in fact REQUIRED to break bonds, and the positive heat overall is formed by the creation of bonds
So interesting😲
Miss Virginia should wear a colour changing dress :0 idk how it'll work but it'll be amazing.
She's a pharmacy student so she must have more knowledge on chemistry
Imagine her walking into an office.....with glasses on....lab coat on.......lipstick on.....CFM high heels.......OMG!!!! THINK Kelly on The Big Bang Theory......except with a kicker....she has a brain...........and yes........I'd love to duck her brains out.....LOL
Redifining stereotypes of women. Lets go !
I live in Virginia and she came to my school and all the dudes were of course staring at her in a attracted way
I met her today💀.
And she won Miss America too
She stole the idea from Miss Vermont. She did it 3 or so years back.
YAY VA, i live in va
Hail science!
Awsome videos keep up the work
Well done Miss Virginia
Wow I live in VA
Awesome ❤️💜❤️
Even though this is a child’s experiment I’m proud of her for showing her stuff for showing that the miss America crown doesn’t deserve just a pretty face underneath it but a sharp mind too congratulations
And now she won the entire thing lol
She came to my school (signal knob middle school) today and like three 7th graders asked for her number and got in school suspension and I literally cannot 🤣
My ex gave her a tiny plastic baby 🤣🤣
Wow , go girlie !!
How Bout Da Miss Alabama?!?
That was fun!
I am so proud of her...🤗
Miss Vermont did this 4 years ago.
So cool I use to watch Bill nye the science guy when I was kid I loved that show growing up
Is Ms America more about talent than beauty? What's the difference compeare to Miss USA?
I’m sorry but that science experiment isn’t hard we did it at school it dosent take much work to make it happen don’t know how she won but she seems nice and congrats to her
She’s pretty and smart damn
Awesome awesome good luck young lady
In the immortal words of the late great Tony Stark - I want one :)
I literally did this in middle school
I was there a saw her win
Proving women can be beautiful and smart 💕💯
