The website and launcher is likely down, due to the mass amount of people trying to get on. Wait and hour or 2 and then try again. It's a common thing with epic games. Don't worry, you're not the only one :)

No as it's a subscription you will need a payment method. But you can just cancel it instantly if you don't want to be charged
