How To Setup Discord Onboarding...

Discord's onboarding system is one of the best ways to setup reaction roles for your discord server and welcome new users to the community without them feeling overwhelmed with the server guide feature.
In this video I go through how you can add it to your discord server. I go over the default channel setup, pre-join questions, post join questions, how to allow users to select roles or channels to unlock and finally the server guide section.

hey! so this is unrelated but awesome video man, but with sapphire embeds and revealing messages with buttons, when i press the buttons, the message appears from Sapphire rather than the custom webhook. do you know how to change that?

When using a custom webhook it only customises the main message. You need the custom branding if you want the branding to work when you interact with buttons or the dropdowns.

Trying to follow your guide & for non paid users its a lot different....
When setting up default channels it requires us to choose 7 channels that are linked with questions, then in the next part for task it ask you to give your members 3-5 task, if those task also correlate with the original 7 channels you chose, then those channels are nullified in the 7 channel part. meaning to open a discord with onboarding for free it wants me to have over 12 channels, that are open for messaging to a new user?
So workflow wise, my user will join my channel, see 7 random channels & be instantly bombared with a minimum of 7 questions, 3-5 task BEFORE they can even interact with the server?!
I don't want 12 extra random channels. I want my users to join and see rules & verify, once they finish THEN they see the other stuff....... I dont know how discord doesn't realise this?!
Having that many active channels for new unverified users to talk in would be very disruptive to your server?
All i want to do is set it so my rules & verification pages start from the top down like a normal page...... WHY DO THEY GOTTA MAKE IT SO FREAKING DIFFICULT

Yeah I understand your frustration and it bugs me a lot. There are a few ways around it but it requires different bots to be setup and actually creating your own onboarding system with buttons etc.
You don’t have to use the built in server guide to have onboarding work and that part can be disabled. As for the default channels making them visible to the everyone role and then granting people a members or free role on join and altering the permissions for that role is the only way around it.
Not great when they bring paid access communities and are trying to encourage more to use the platform.
