I like lived in a van back in 2004, I felt unwelcome everywhere I went, the road was hard and isolating, and I know I have rough patches in life, so I purchased land and put a 8 by 12 shed on the place, then my boyfriend bought land in Florida, it's been great we have been here 5 months it's kindred here, my credit card didn't work at the store and guy behind me demanded to buy the gas for me, I told him I didn't need it I have another card, what I am saying is I have been finding kind people here.

We have 4 dog's, we didn't exactly ask for but that's ok we have plenty of love for them all. I remember your journey long ago, I don't want to bring it up, however, I haven't lost my dog's, my eldest is 18, the pain you went through is still unimagined for me. Hard is hard and yes some days everything you try to do is hard and harder, you give me the strength I need to keep going,

I’m old...live alone...caring for some outside critters and took 2 sickly stray cats in.
My life has been pretty topsy turvy...nothing turned out the way I thought it would. Not even close. Single parent..got rid of ex who drank and partied too much. Raised my girls alone. I received not one cent for child support. Worked hard..hectic job..
Tried to give my kids a loving, stable environment. Never remarried. Fostered shelter animals, worked and helped raise all 5 grandkids. Ex harassed me...but paid no child support. His family didn’t let me know he had mental issues...and I saw no sign of anything until his dad passed . He went off the deep end. I lost my dad at 16 yrs old...had to be strong for my mom who wasn’t doing well. Neither was I. Only child...so I went to school, worked 2 afternoons a week after school. And came home to my mom. Wasn’t easy. My best friend moved away after she got married...so I had no one except a few close family members.
Sorry...didn’t mean to ramble... I don’t work anymore. Got about 15 heath issues and I’m financially, emotionally and physically feeling drained. Just a tad bit of savings left...so hopefully will be exiting soon. Not in a morbid way....just..everyone in my family has died from heart issues at an early age. So young...even my younger daughter. She was only 37. My dad was 42 yrs old. His mom was 36 yrs old. One of my cousins died from heat problems at 19 yrs old. Mostly everyone on both sides of family gone by 71/72 yrs old...or much younger.
Thing is....I’m still here for some reason , will be 75 yrs old soon...and I’m exhausted...and obviously drs figured out that I have a substantial list of health issues...crazy weird stuff. Fatigue and pain is worse.
I live alone in my tiny home..grandkids all grown up...busy...living lives...I don’t drink, smoke or do any recreational drugs...and I’m never lonely. I hate socializing.. I hate loud noises, bright lights and crowds...omg...I’ve changed so much over the years. I love my solitude, do what I’m able to do...the rest doesn’t get done. There’s no handymen/handy women in my area who will do any repairs..or help...so it is what it is. What’s broken stays broken for now.
I don’t understand why people drink or try other substances too. Their brains are being short circuited..and they have no awareness. Everything gets blurry, including their words and actions...and the noise volume goes up, and people just blank out (common sense is definitely blurred by alcohol)..and act strange, loud and, sometimes, obnoxious.
Even as a little kid...I didn’t like crowds and loudness.
Might just be me. I’m old and I’m quirky and I’ve nothing to prove to anyone. And I don’t answer to anyone....but still love and care for my family and my fur babies (inside and outside).
I like seclusion...maybe in a big mountain cabin...a few people tp help me....and the only beings I’d want to hang with would kinda be non humans. They’re much nicer than many humans I’ve interacted with and/or met throughout my life.
Sorry...long ramble....was trying to say I understand how loud music, noise and booze...or whatever...may somehow cause most people to lose his/her ability to think and act rationally...and if their brains are short circuiting...they’re not even going to actually realize how they’re acting, how loud they are...and there’s no rational thinking going on ...so they won’t comprehend that either. Yeah that sums up my ex. Annoying ...very annoying. And I didn’t need my kids or my dog bothered by his late night visits to our home several times a month.
I like being alone.. and I think you like your space too. Hugs to you and Sadie. Good luck, stay safe! Stay safe. 💓💓

Ms Sandella11- As long as there is a breath in your body, someone needs what you have to offer, if you chose, of course. Judging from your post, you are a woman of enormous strength. And, You have taken care of everyone else with flying colors. Aside from all that, you managed to still be going at 72 1/2!! Bravo!! I am 77, turning 78 in March. And, I have health issues, as well. But, I am focusing on what I CAN do, not what I can’t do anymore. And, I live alone, with no kids, no family in this state, and a few really good friends. Yes, it’s sometimes scary, sometimes lonely, sometimes it seems hopeless and like no one cares. But. The one thing that keeps me going is the spirit of God within me. Not everyone believes the same, and I respect that. But, building a relationship with what you do believe in is paramount in being able to handle life as it comes.
You can be very proud of what you have accomplished in this life. You seem like an excellent mother and grandmother who has put her family first. While I don’t have all the answers, I do know that you are needed right where you are. Your life is NO accident. I am sending you good vibes today of love, good times, and a hope for the future. ♥️🙏🏼♥️

    @anneheath745 Před rokem +2

Carolyn, it was good of you to share your story. I am sure you are helping a lot of people with this video. My experience with 12-steps programs were more positive. I found the experienced people in the room (those with one or more years of success) to be generally affirmative, healthy, employed, groomed and rested. The "not-always-old-timers" all had their quirks, foibles, frustrations and failings, but they were generally were successful because they remembered what not-to-do. These were 99% voluntary meetings, not "jail or meetings" meetings. Not that anyone is better than anyone else, but the zeitgeist if one is voluntarily in the room can be more upbeat I think. People are there because they WANT to be there. The people with one or more years of success were generally friendly, no-nonsense and helpful. I got a lot of great advice such as: "you'll plan your relapse" (that put me on my guard against back sliding), "no one ever died of lack of sleep," "there's no problem that drinking won't make worse," "h.a.l.t. = hungry, angry, lonely, tired," etc. I can remember one woman saying (with 6 years of "success" under her belt): "I still hear the voices in my head telling me 'you're a nothing, a loser, a nobody.' The difference is I don't listen any more."
Second, there is a God. I'm going to give you St. Thomas Aquinas on how we can feel assured there is a God. One, study creation. Start with the universe, just a tiny slice of it like the Solar System. One cannot help but become struck with awe. Study "black holes," "quasars" and "dark matter." Look at photos of the planet Jupiter taken from the Hubble Space Telescope. Think all of that just happened? Try making something out of nothing. I make things, and it's hard to make something come out "right" and "usable." Only God can make things perfectly, and out of nothing.
Einstein started out as an atheist. He came to a sort of deist believe--that is, he came to believe there is an intelligent design in the universe--in his quest for a "unified theory," which he never achieved. (He did not believe in a personal God, or in the person of Jesus Christ as God, however, or even in JC as a confirmed 'historical person' to my knowledge. That is, Einstein, to my knowledge, did not buy into things like the 10 commandments or private revelation.
Second way we access God (per St. Thomas Aquinas) is through private revelation and personal inspiration. What's the personal inspiration? The longing for the transcendent. This is the proverbial "hole in my heart that can only be filled by You". What's private revelation? God comes to you in a way that cannot be denied and is often sensorially confirmed. Here, God takes the lead. One cannot "produce" or "demand" a private revelation. However, JC said "seek and you will find," and I found Him trustworthy in that statement. I did seek the truth quite doggedly (having a God-sized hole in my heart) and did find (because He had mercy on me). God has no favorites. You seek Him with all your heart and soul, you will find Him.
Recommended reading in your vision quest (assuming you have one): C.S. Lewis's "Mere Christianity" and "The Great Divorce". I've read almost all of Lewis' nonfiction and a good deal of his fiction. He convinced me (and he was a genius type and started out a hard-core atheist. He described himself in his autobiography "Surprised by Joy" as the most reluctant convert in England.) Second, study the life of St. Padre Pio who died in 1968 and had the stigmata of JC for 50 years. He could bi-locate and performed many miracles, exorcisms and won millions of conversions for Our Lord. Third, read Mathew, Mark, Luke and John. There is real power in scripture.
Keep up the good work! We'll keep subscribing and watching!

But thank you for all the video. It brings back memories. Grand Rapids is a really cute town. We used to go to the yearly Apple Butter Festival there. I also lived in Grand Rapids, Ohio area for many years..the Apple butter Festival is Amazing..The little town of Grand Rapids is a fun day trip.
Walking the trail behind the shops and restaurant to the actual Rapids is a short nice Trail. The River you were speaking of is the Maumee River. A lot of interesting history
In that Area. Unfortunately you picked a Park that does not have much and gets little Attention as far as upkeep. It is and always has been a Park for the "Locals". Most of them barely over 21 who do go there to drink and party. This Park gets little Attention except for those who maybe want to go boating & water skiing. No such thing as quiet time in that park or any other in that area along the Maumee River. There are some pretty Daytime Family Parks on the other side of the
      River..and those are and always
Have been a great place for Families to go and picnic and kids to play. Yes you definitely
Would have had a better rest at Walmart or one of the big Truck
Stops. Sorry about your bad experience..as there really are
Some cool laid-back day trips in that area..just unfortunately not what you were looking for at the time.

Been there. Done that. One night in Louisiana me and my 96 year old mother were in the middle of our site in my rig. A mother and father and their toddler and brand new baby set up their tent RIGHT on the line of our site. Baby cried all night. Mom yelled at toddler. They were no more than 5-6 feet from us. The whole other side of their site they used for a car and picnic table and playpen. There was no one on the other side of them. I asked nicely if they could move their tent away from our rig for the next two nights we were supposed to be there and SHE called the park ranger and said that I threatened her!!

I know exactly how you feel about, unbelievably rude people,on the road while camping.
This past year, while boondocking in calfornia,I was in a campsite, parked on it's own short driveway, before fire ring.
At 0600 in morning, mind you, a large brand new expensive truck with new RV,pulled around me went onto the grass and went on the other side of my fire ring.
Then began to uncamp in my space, talking loudly.
Of course I woke up and when they saw me a young man and worman, they just looked away, ignored me and went on putting out their chairs etc.
It was the last spot with phone service,I just left, went down rd to better spot, but no phone,so left later in day.
Went I went back, their RV was still there, with there stuff outside but they and there truck had left.
I've seen a lot of rude people on my trips, but that one was the winner of all time.
Great video like always, and that's why we love you, because you show us your real self, the good, happy and down moments as well in life.

I had a kid that walked into my site once a hide behind a tree and watched me and my grandson. I told my grandson to stay put, I walked around and crabbed the kid and walked him to his site and told his mother to keep her son on her site or better yet inside her cabin. They had to many people in the cabin and they were loud as hell. Mind you this was a family-owned campground. I had just driven from VA to NJ to see family and I was tried. The mother called me a hick and go back where I came from. Hell flew into me and my NJ accent and attitude came out. I went back to my site and told my grandson that we will mark this campground off our list. WELL she turned me in! The owner came to me and asked me to leave now, my grandson said sir, I have video of what was going on and how I handled it. (Smart on his part) Well he left my site and showed her the video and asked to pack up and leave because she didn't have control of the kids. On the video it showed the boy reaching inti my van. Also I found out that my cousin bought this campground a few months back.

I’m surprised someone (camp host) didn’t call the cops. My experience in campgrounds (state or otherwise) is the camp host calls the cops & they handle it especially if there is alcohol (or the camp host is a woman) involved. Looking forward to the meet & greet. Hopefully I’ll get to go.

Had a similar experience last month while tent camping. The campers next to me had a large television hooked up to a computer and power bank and watched adventure movies until midnight! I asked the ranger if there was quiet hours - he said 10 p.m. then asked "oh the TV?" I said yes and he said he usually just drives by and they get the message. So I'm thinking - "usually?" so they are probably regulars and he probably didn't want to make a big deal out of it. Needless to say - no sleep for me. Set a bad tone for my next day.

We stay at a horse camp in Arkansas every Oct, where a lot of other people also camp during the same time each year. There aren’t hook-ups at this camp. A few years ago a lady camped next to us and left her generator running 24-7, because she had an electric only refrigerator. The extra bad thing about it was that it was sitting about 8-10’ from my bedroom window. I am a light sleeper, so it kept me awake most of the night. I nicely told her generators were supposed to be shut off at night. I have seen her at least 2 other years and when I have stopped to say hello, both times she has brought up the fact that I complained about her generator. 😏. This year, she was camped about 60’ from us, and she is still running her generator 24-7. At least it wasn’t sitting right next to us, so it didn’t bother me too much. This campground has some permanent campers and one of them has a hunting dog that is left tied up outdoors all night. This dog barks aaalll night long. I felt sorry for the people who were camped close to that barking dog.

I certainly can relate with that situation in camping. Rest Areas are not much better. I always look for large truck stops with back lots for noise free or reduced noises. I generally don't get a good nights sleep whenever I'm on the road. But big Petro stops generally have good food and some places to park.

  • @wallywal6139
    @wallywal6139 Před rokem

And that's why I avoid campgrounds but sometimes you don't have a choice. I'm out west so we have more booondocking choices. I have tinnitus in one ear so I use a sound machine at bedtime that makes white noise and I turn it up. It blocks out all of the outside noise and I use it all the time. If there was a problem or emergency, Sadie would wake you up. Early in the summer at a remote campground in Utah someone had a dog that barked all day and night. I went to the host and he didn't want to do anything about it. My response was that if he didn't do something, myself and several otehrs were going to take care of it ourselves and then he'd have a much larger problem on his hands. He fixed the problem and those campers left. Sometimes you just have to be cranky and put your foot down.

Once I got cranky camping after a super loud huge family RV moved in with a loud, unnecessary generator and shone bright florescent lights into our site and tent and played awful, loud music too late at night with kids and adults yelling way too loud til 3am. We'd been hiking all day and were exhausted. The next day I heard yelling again from them as they were again climbing all over a fallen tree right in our clearly marked campsite. Apparently there was some really sticky sap all over it and it got all over their clothes. Or it could've been pancake syrup, IDK. Funny thing though, I slept a lot better the next night. 😂
