Who didn’t have the woods behind the high school to smoke in back in the day 😂
Aww, no way! My dad's side of my family all still live in Binghamton and surrounding towns. It was awesome seeing the area again. 💖
Hi Carolyn! Can't wait to watch this one.😊 Well ..I'm done watching this & idk about you but it brought tears to my eyes. I'm I think about 3 or 4 yrs older than you so when you were going "back home" and showing all your old homes & apartments & stomping grounds etc, it always tugs at my heartstrings bc it makes me want to go back to my childhood when everything was so easy & I didn't have a care in the world. Everything was taken care of for me. Now...not so much. Too much chaos & confusion in this world. Times were so much easier back then. Another great video just the same. Thanks for sharing.😊
I was kid back in the 70's it sure feels Soo long ago.
Carolyn, I don’t usually comment but this was kinda sweet taking a little trip down memory lane.
I certainly respect and understand if your mother didn’t care to be on video but I was hoping to meet her.
Thank You for sharing , for this was a very different kind of video.🙏🏻
Thank you!!!
Hello Carolyn. This was such fun and interesting! Thank you so much for inviting us along.🤗 Stay safe and happy travels.
Very enjoyable video. The fall there is so beautiful. Memory Lane can be tricky. Nostalgic both happy and sad. Grateful I survived and at the same time wishing to be younger again. Thanks for sharing that part of your life with us.
Hey Carolyn and Sadie that was really a fun video Carolyn. Enjoyed it take care stay safe and God bless you both
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR JOURNEY & LIFE MEMORY'S WITH US! I ❤ THE VIDEO !🫂❤
OMG!
Your video brought tears to my eyes. I have lived in Florida for 43 years but I am originally from Harpursville, which is just outside of Binghamton.
I literally get lost when I visit. You are so right everything has changed and seems to be run down. Binghamton is pretty much unrecognizable to me now. Although, they still have spedies.
Thanks for the memories Carolyn.
My high school actually had a smoking area blocked off for us. We would rush between classes to smoke that and more. We also had open campus for lunch which meant we could leave and go get fast food. Gawd, I used to bum a quarter off someone every hour until lunch and we would put our money together to buy 2 for 3, smoke em down and eat the burrito we had pre-ordered and back to school all asking the other do I look stoned? No, do I? I quit smoking my last semester of my senior year and all my grades went up a letter with no effort. That speaks volumes. Yeah, some trips down memory lane aren't so good. I'm glad you shared it with us though.
Thankyou Carolyn for showing us around
THIS WAS PRECIOUS..LIKE YOU&SADIE...CAROLYN....TKU
Thank you, memories roll down my face!!!!!
Great video Carolyn...always love going down memory lane...something that no one can take away from us...thanks love...
Love it 😉
A walk down memory lane..... What a beautiful area Carolyn!
I absolutely loved this episode! Thanks for sharing!
Enjoyed your trip down memory lane.
I love this. I grew up in the SF Bay Area, but born in the Midwest. I want to drive back and get a video of My Elementary school and the changes in that town after 45 years. I watched another You Tuber on occasion from the Pennsylvania/New York areas and he shows the most beautiful scenery on his drives and hikes. Your video reminds me of that awesome scenery. It's fun to hear people share areas from childhood. That was nice!
Wow . We went to upstate NY in May. LOVED it. Loved taking the backroads and exploring small towns. The people were so so so nice. We will be back during the summer. The weather was perfect. Thanks for the video. Glad you went back.
Beautiful area you grew up in. Love the fall colors.
Thank you for taking us along.
FYI, the state has an interesting way of limiting rifles as they are between 150db - 165db!
Sadie is so shiny! Healthy doggy!! 👍
18:25 beautiful photo of Sadie and the Autumn glory.
Welcome Home! It's nice to see our home state on CZcams. Figures it takes a New Yorker to highlight New York.
This was really a great video, Carolyn. I really enjoyed your walk down memory lane. You lived in a really nice area... No wonder you're a country girl. Thanks for sharing. Just wonderful. My high school is being torn down at this very moment because they built a huge new one right beside it. I live one town over from where I grew up and I've been watching things being torn down and trees being torn up with new neighborhoods going everywhere... It's kind of sad.
When I went back.to.my hometown my house I grew up.in was no longer there nor the street..There was a Huge subdivision.
Nice video
NICE TO HAVE THOSE MEMORIES. Our school was torn down after Katrina, so nothing on the property my last visit, and of course our home was wiped out by the storm, my parents sold our home but I still have the river property.
Always "bitter sweet" going home....but still good for you!
Loved your trip down memory lane! You inspired me to start my CZcams channel, a few years ago. Thank you!
Very nice trip down memory lane! Thanks for sharing, Carolyn.
That second story apartment looks mighty cool.
I guess your Mom is camera shy.
It would have been sweet to have a shot of you two together.
Blessings to you and your mother. 💕 Sadie Girl too!
I......CAROLYN...FOR ONE.ARE GLAD YOU STILL HAVE A MOM TO HANG OUT WITH&(I SURE DO MISS MINE♥️) IM GLAD YOURE OFF THE ROAD AND SAFE WITH YOUR MOM ..I THINK YOU SHOUULD STAY THE WINTER ...OR LONGER...WITH YOUR MOM.....ENJOY HER WHEN LE YOU CAN ....YOU CAN ALWAYS RV LATER...♥️YOU MUCH THO..&THANKU SO MUCH,HON.🙂🌸🙏
What a treat to see where you came from! The stories behind the story! 🖖🏻😘👍🏻🙏🏻
I can relate. Things do change. Usually not for the better. But I sure enjoyed this video. And I will order the 2023 calendar too! Thanks Carolyn.
Thank you!
I really enjoyed the tour of your town!
It's bittersweet going home. My mom is still in the house I grew up in and 2 of my kids live in the same town too, so I go 'home' at least twice a year. It's still beautiful, but it is sad when places that hold memories close or get torn down.
About three years ago, I visited the town I went to high school in. After 37 years, so much had changed. The town grew very little over time and was on the verge of becoming a ghost town, but still, I struggled to find landmarks too. I felt your emotions as you looked around for familiarity. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
I felt that same way the last time I was up in Greene, NY.
LOL... We played against your school GCS!
Thank you for sharing this walk down memory lane. ❤️
Hug and kiss your mom extra. Tell her you love her. They pass away too quickly. ❤
Thanks for this. My eyes tinged with tears as you struggled to find a landmark to recognize within your walk down memory lane, per say. I think we can all relate, regardless of our ages. All things age, good or bad, just depends on how we perceive it, whether it be us or things we once loved or lived. Everything changes and nothing ever stays the same. It is the way of this world and it has to be that way, even for us humans. Better than yesterday, isn’t that what they say? I believe we and our world age like fine wine, some times are so sweet, sometimes bitter, but also sometimes bittersweet. Seemed to be a bit bittersweet for you Carolyn, and that is ok, as well. Cigs behind the school, and funny ones, too? Wow. A mysterious woman with a past. Imagine that. 😏 💪🌻
That for me was one of the most heartfelt video I think you have shot, I just loved it and felt all the emotions behind it. I know how it feels when nothing stays the same. Thank you for putting this out there for all of. Sooner or later we all get thrown in the same Barrel. love Ya kid.😕😔😮💨
You're a sweet man.
i think its one of your best videos too.
thanks bunches 🦌💌🚙🙏
Enjoyed you’re reminiscing but I can totally relate but when you go home to where you were a kid as an adult it really doesn’t seem like you remember it or at least that’s been my experience. My therapist asked me one time where I called home, I told her for me home is not a place it’s people…. The people I love are where home is add because they move around it’s been difficult for me to ever feel at home completely anywhere. My nickname when I was a child was GYPSY and it stuck I’ve moved more times than I even want to remember and I’m getting ready to move again in a couple of weeks I’m old now so this may be the last time I move there’s a part of me that hopes that’s true. Safe travels Carolyn 💜✌🏽
OMG! You had a "tree" !!! We had "the tree" in jr and senior high!
From Watertown. I remember the cider mill very well...yeah..missing home now. Hi from Houston. ❤
When I was in the Air Force, I spent two years at Griffiss AFB, Rome N.Y. 1968-1970. I have many fond memories of my time there. Wasn't crazy about the weather being from Southern California, but still had an enjoyable time, and still have contact with people I met there. Also have a current friend that I play tennis with from Binghampton.
Carolyn, I really enjoyed this video. I like seeing where you began your journey. NY is a beautiful state, as well. I hope things go well for you while you are there, and that you come away refreshed and renewed! ♥️🙏🏼♥️🐾🐾🐾
OMG...CAROLYN...I,ve followed you,Yes,subscribed.. almost Three years now....and now I find out. WE Both Grew up in Binghamton(born there),as my Dad worked for ..IBM...,THEN we moved to Johnson City...but this was,WAY Back...1948 to 1958(then IBM moved us to MN. Wow, yes, have family members who made careers out of IBM and EJ shoes before that!
I was hoping this would be familiar to some viewers. Glad you enjoyed it!!
What a small world. I will be 74 next month. I grew up in the small town of Doraville, not far from Harpursville. My Dad also worked at IBM in Endicott.
Love your adventures with Sadie.
Looks like a real nice place to grow up your childhood town didnt know you were a fellow New Yorker.
We just two schools to go to back.came to Columbus, Ohio in 5 grade had todo 4 buildings down here.
My step-granddaughter graduated from your high school last year! I attended the ceremony right there at that school you showed. You were right in the next town over from my town at the Cider Mill. If you really wanted want a good time, you should visit Rolling Fire Glass Works on Nanticoke and Franklin streets. That's my favorite treat store!
Great video nice trip down memory Lane cheers girl ,oh by the way went down to 42 degrees here in New Orleans last night I made great use out of the hoodie you gave me anyways cheers from Maddie girl and I ,
Sunday night is My Bluegrass and Gospel Music Night.
Excellent video! Loved the trip down memory lane.
I sort of grew up in upstate NY too (Rome). My Dad was military and was stationed at Griffiss AFB in late 1960s where he retired. I'd love to make a trip there with my little home on wheels. It's been around 10 years since my last visit but I flew there and stayed with my brother.
Thank you for the heart felt trip down "memory lane".Nice video!
Sadi is so cute, listening so intently...why you think that gal was going to write your Bio.She's a keeper !
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video of the Southern Tier. I'm near Rochester and have been to Binghamton many times. Thanks for sharing your visit back home........
I LOVE, LOVED this episode. Memory lane can be mixed with sadness and joy. I go through that when I visit my childhood area.
Yes the spirit to wander the area's we grew up in is alluring. Enjoyed your journey to your old hoods. 👍🏿😊
Wow! Hometown memories are always best 🎉. I really enjoyed your travels to the East, but the capping event was being held at your moms house in her beautiful forest of land. The fall leaves were beautiful and the scenery was serene. I hope the goodbye was a good as one could have, as leaving loved ones is an emotional rollercoaster. As always be safe and be free.
I was in Binghamton once and would love to go back
Haha. I am from Webster NY and I am sure if I went back there today I wouldn't recognize anything either.
That was really fun to go with you down memory lane😊. Another small glimpse into your story!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is a small world. Was born in Endicott and grew up in the town of Maine. Loved the Cider Mill.
I didn’t know we were fellow upstaters! You lived north west of me but your video sure brought back memories of leaf piles and fall colors! I lived mostly in Rockland County but was born on Long Island. Thanks for sharing a genuine autumn.
Change is good.... but sometimes it is bad.
The past is the past. We have to let the bad go and embrace the good memories.
Nice ty
Carolyn, we had similar backgrounds in good and bad ways. I left when I was 20 to Cali. San Jose, Ca. It didn't work out but moved back then moved to Arizona. Nothing stays the same and we change as well. Why everything is different. Someone told me you can never really go back home because it is a set of memories from a part of our lives. We will never be the same. Enjoy anyway!
Buy Tinkyada brand pasta from Canada.. the best. Follow the energy saving method to cook .... Never mushy... Just cooked some today.... Enjoying the tour.... I'm from the Hudson valley,, now living in Nashville GA.... DAH don't ask.!!!
Happy 😊 winter
Loved seeing your memories❣ We were the Blue Devils also at my high school in Quincy Illinois.
Funny thing when you visit your childhood places. For me it was everything was smaller and distances were shorter. Three miles to the one room school house, lol The wonderful world of a child. :)
I really enjoyed this, lovely area especially this time of year. It's a strange feeling how things look so different, isn't it? I did the same thing, it felt familiar yet surreal!
Lovely little visit back home. You could see memories play across your face and see them in your eyes. Awesome vlog
The Red Oak Diner. My wife is from Binghamton. Sweet memories of mile high pies at the Red Oak. Btw, wife and I met at UC Berkeley. She was part of the Binghamton youth exodus. Back then Berkeley was where it’s at. I enjoy your videos. Thank you for posting them regularly. ❤
Wow that's amazing that we both have the Red Oak and Berkeley in commo. Very cool. thank you for watching and sharing!
The Red Oak was our favorite breakfast place until it closed. So funny seeing my hometown in the video. Of course the Cider Mill has been in my life, too, I am in my 60's. The Cider Mill has a great apple slushie! I'm not vegan, but do know the restaurant. My grandmother used to live on Gerard Ave (one of her many places in Binghamton). Was glad to travel around with you! I love my being in my RV.
When your childhood no longer looks familiar it means you have truly moved on and left it all behind. Congratulations.
So true!
Wow, trippy. I used to live in Greene, New York.....back when it was a little village.
oh yes, I have memories of Greene, NY in the 80s.
Hey lady you passed right by me from Rome NY and my kids fathers from Binghamton. I ve had some good times in that little city lol It inspires me to see someone from my area was able to live the life. I can't too
I live in Eldred, Pa and we were about 230 miles from where you live. It is a very nice town.
A couple here in Washington where I live actually invented the retractable leash collar. They sold it and I think now it is on Amazon. They are handy
Sometimes things are better left a memory.
I so relate to the difficulties of going home after many years too find, what should be recognizable to, unfamiliar due to 'progress'or,,,,,,.... I have been broken hearted because of such things.
It was good to go along with you on this journey. Thanks for the ride Carolyn. I just love ya. Wishing you peace♡♡♡♡♡
Everything changes and so do we.
Seems like a mostly positive visit, so good. It's a pretty town - or maybe my desert dwelling has made white houses and green trees look really good to me! LOL. New houses here are all shades of beige and old ones either cement block or stucco. No green leaves; lots of Joshua trees though. Thanks for sharing.
enjoyed this with my morning coffee here in Delaware.. New York mountains are beautiful. Thank you and hope you had a nice visit with your mom. I loved how u said u smoked pot, I would have never guessed. I like this side of you. Safe travels. Give Sadie a good pat on the head for me.
Never commented on here, but this is my home town too, same school. Not doubting you know my family. One of the largest in the Forks. You were my first subscriber when looking to road living. Wow OMG
Oh wow... small world. Is Anderson your family name?
No, Snyder. We live by state park
I see my sister committed too
Marty Snyder sounds vaguely familiar. Was there a Bubba???
Sadie is so adventurous! Wonder where she gets that from? Lol
Hope you had a nice trip home!
Great video! Thanks, loved seeing your home town.
I moved back home to find everything changed. Everywhere I lived through the years is gone. I can't even get around much because it's a new place...so unfamiliar. Growth is staggering and so sad.
You are from my area that is so cool. I grew up in Windsor NY, and currently live in Vestal work in Binghamton and soon will be moving to Chenango Bridge. Was so surprised when watching this filming of Chenango Forks and Front St and Binghamton, Endicott Cider Mill.
I have been watching you for about 4 years. I did not know you were from upstate NY. I to was born and raised upstate NY.
That complex for your high school is immence. I grew up in Old Lyme Ct. and we had to consolidate our school with Lyme, so we could be considered small school. Brought me back to the old days. Last time back home so much had changed but not enough where I didn't know the place.
Where in New York ? I grew up near Jamestown south west of the state family lives right across the boarder in Pa. Loved it but city girl now.
This was so nice. I grew up in Pittsburgh and now live in Buffalo. I love New York especially because it’s a blue state and very, very beautiful. When my husband was well we would drive all over and have been thru Binghamton many times. Thanks for the trip down MY memory lane.
Almost purple this election
