    Just think that, 7 years ago, people were telling us that RPGs were dead.That AA games were going away. The Switch came along at the perfect time. Were it not for this console, we would likely be stuck with middling "AAA" fare that does little to move gaming forward.

    The Switch has been amazing for JRPGs and visual novels too. I love being able to switch between docked and handheld mode when I’m getting tired. I really hope Nintendo keeps in mind the ways this console has been great for these genres as well as first party games in the next console.

      definitely agree regarding VNs. Pretty much every major visual novel company has some form of presence on it nowadays. Even MangaGamer have started porting games to it.

    What I enjoy the most in JRPGs is the artistry and aesthetics found in many of these games.
    Whether it’s excellent writing, stunning music or character design, there is some really high caliber talent on display.
    IMHO this will always take precedence over 4K, 120 FPS or any other such technicality.

    The Nintendo switch personally got me into so many JRPG series as they are treated such a big deal on Nintendo's consoles so they get the focal point they deserve.

    Having all 3 Xenoblade Chronicles games on the switch makes it legitimate even before you mention timed exclusives (Octopath) or ports down the line (Persona).

    I'm shocked Sony is now ignoring portable gaming when NS is killing it and feels like it's almost like a newer version of a PSP or Vita.. Thats the reason why I like it being I love those portables.. Not just RPG from all regions related tho it's a strong asset but it's well balanced overall.. Look at their platformers and action adventures.. Moreover there's quite literally a gazillion indies of great quality.. Funny I went back to Nintendo in recent years predominantly because I was missing Fire Emblem.. And being Sid Meiers Civilization is my fav all around game getting on board with Switch was a no brainer..

    It’s okay if you are playing handheld 100% of the time but when it’s multi platform getting it on PS5 is just the better way to go with much sharper visuals and better load times.

  • @cgallen86
    @cgallen86 Před rokem +2

    It is good, and I do enjoy my JRPGs on my switch. But it’s not the best… considering it’s slower load times, and the frame rate slow down hold it back. Plus in handheld mode it is uncomfortable for longer game session’s without having a grip or larger controller’s attached to the system. In my opinion. The PS5 and steam deck/PC are the ideal place for JRPGs. You get faster load times, better running games, and also portability.

    • @RawPower867
      @RawPower867 Před rokem +1

      Most gamers don't care about things like framerate or load times unless they're extremely bad, which isn't the case for most Switch games. I agree about Steam Deck though.

      Stop being a fuckin nerd… no parents or regular people are going to spend $500 on a system…. The best system available is the system that EVERYONE can access. No parent is buying a steam deck for their child unless you live in middle america or your a spoiled brat. People that live in urban or lower class areas have to go for what’s affordable….

    PS Vita enters the chat.
    I am of the opinion that the PS Vita is still better for JRPGs. However, if all of the JRPGs remasters that are due this year come to fruition - and have more effort than Tales of Symphonia - then I'd be inclined to agree with the Switch.
