As someone who was T-boned directly in my door by a Nissan Maxima, sitting in a Volkswagen Golf, I can tell you those pre-tensioner's are effective. When they fire, there is definitely force. If you are out of position it will put you in the correct position so the airbags can do their jobs properly. Incidentally, I walked away without a scratch, the car was totaled

GM calls it Terminal Fretting. They tell us to cycle connector and apply dielectric grease. After the Recall on the Traverse, Acadia and Enclave they took the connectors back (that weren't un done and the air bag light was on) and did testing and found out the cause was not soldering the crimps on the terminals, they came out with a bulletin on the 14s and up to solder every male terminal in the affected seat. But i love having those data pids helps a lot looking for intermittent issues.

Thanks for the the recall info on connectors. One of my electricians at work would say there are only two modes for electrical connections: shiny and more shiny. Which reminds me I have to shine up my grounds on my 77 chevy truck and 2002 buick.

I had an airbag light on because the seat-belt buckle sense circuit was open. turned out, the wires broke where the buckle bends & I was able to repair it by cutting the buckle apart and soldering the wires back together. sure beat the hell out of a $200 buckle that was just that... a buckle. the pre-tensioner is in the belt spool, so I have no idea why the thing is so damn expensive.
the wires being broken also caused some annoying side effects, like the seat belt light flickering and glowing when the belt was buckled & the chime going off at random. short term fix for that was just unplugging it.

When there is any exhaust leak, it does not make sense to mess with any of the sensors, nor cat at all. There is momentary vacuum in the exhaust (due to all the pulsating waves), which draws in external air and this extra oxygen causes mayhem in the sensor reading. So first the leak, let the system some time to clean out and recalibrate (the air leak uses to screw up the trims before it gets detected as a fault and the adjustment is stopped) and only then take any sensor or cat "faults" into consideration.

When I bought my 2010 Jeep Patriot a year ago, the **Check Engine Light was on, the **3 Warning Lights that usually come on when a Wheel Bearing Hub &/or A Speed Sensor is bad, the **Airbag Light & the **4WD! Warning Light was on as well. After fixing two Grounding Pigtails under the Hood, all the lights are out with the exception of the 4WD! light. I've scanned the system & it has no stored fault codes so I'm guessing that there's a connection issue or another Ground Wire that's corroded, related to the 4WD System. Thanks for posting the video. I have fixed the Airbag Light issue before by unplugging, then plugging the Power Seat Harness back in. Jeep has some shitty engineering & cheap wiring on all their Jeep Model Lines....
Edit: When I first got the vehicle, the stored fault codes were for the O2 Sensors. That was fixed after the Grounding Pigtail work was done. The Grounding Issues can even fool a Code Scanner.....

These airbag connector faults always come back usually when the seat is moved. The only 100% certain longterm cure is solder the wires BUT if the wires are soldered the airbag will no longer have the safety shorting bar. Same caveat applied if the connector is replaced by a non-airbag connector.

For a component that pretty much determines whether you live or die, you'd expect them to build it in a at least more stable and reliable way, instead of tugging all harness under the seat and have them fail from slight movement... Imagine getting into a crash and your airbags do not deploy because of a loose cable, almost as if these car makers want you to bend over for $500 repairs so you get to live. Screw them all.
