As someone who was T-boned directly in my door by a Nissan Maxima, sitting in a Volkswagen Golf, I can tell you those pre-tensioner's are effective. When they fire, there is definitely force. If you are out of position it will put you in the correct position so the airbags can do their jobs properly. Incidentally, I walked away without a scratch, the car was totaled
Good to hear. Was the driver distracted or just going too fast?
dogs plants cars & neat stuff I was in the front passenger seat, the driver of my car made a turn where she should not have
@@kevinbarry71 Ouch! At least both of you made it OK,
"Cycling the connector." Plus a little De-Oxit and bam, a NPR repair. Thanks Ivan!
Yes and I'd follow up with a Q tip with some die electric grease on those pins.
Yes thanks to him I now do that for now on if electrical things don't work properly
You would think that after seeing all of this trouble with connectors on computer cars, the factory would lace a thin film of die electric grease on every terminator/connection. Especially for those cars that spend much time in humid conditions.
@@Garth2011 yes same with anti-seize on brake pins and on bolts why do the factory never use their brain
GM calls it Terminal Fretting. They tell us to cycle connector and apply dielectric grease. After the Recall on the Traverse, Acadia and Enclave they took the connectors back (that weren't un done and the air bag light was on) and did testing and found out the cause was not soldering the crimps on the terminals, they came out with a bulletin on the 14s and up to solder every male terminal in the affected seat. But i love having those data pids helps a lot looking for intermittent issues.
Thanks for the the recall info on connectors. One of my electricians at work would say there are only two modes for electrical connections: shiny and more shiny. Which reminds me I have to shine up my grounds on my 77 chevy truck and 2002 buick.
@@dogsplantscarsneatstuff176 That Electrician"s advice is DEAD ON & FUNNY AS HELL.
You saved me $200 for a diagnostics at the dealership thanks man
Good job! DEOXIT is your friend...I had fixed hundreds of malfunctions by just cleaning connections...I have found Deoxit to be the most successful cleaner/protectant for electronics...Exercise the connection with Deoxit 5 times to help break down the tarnished/corrosion, then respray to flush out the contaminants...
thanks for the tip. I learn so much from comments.
What do you mean by exercise the connector? Are you just plugging and unplugging the connector five times and then spraying it out again? Never done this before. Thanks.
I always use Stabilant 22A on airbag and abs connection problems,,, Works magic!!! Just not on the cheap side!!!
You stay busy Ivan. I've enjoyed the years of learning from you.
Thank you! Never would have thought to look under the seats. Luckily it was a loose connection.
No doubt that launch is extremely helpful tool and even not expensive!
By the way great direction
I watched this video and he was actually right all I did was push in the clip and my airbag light went off just said me about 500 I'm guessing thanks buddy
100% the easiest fix ever. Thanks!
That DeOxit D5 is some great stuff! I've fixed several vehicles with that stuff since first seeing you use it a couple years ago. Thanks buddy! 👍🍻
I had an airbag light on because the seat-belt buckle sense circuit was open. turned out, the wires broke where the buckle bends & I was able to repair it by cutting the buckle apart and soldering the wires back together. sure beat the hell out of a $200 buckle that was just that... a buckle. the pre-tensioner is in the belt spool, so I have no idea why the thing is so damn expensive.
the wires being broken also caused some annoying side effects, like the seat belt light flickering and glowing when the belt was buckled & the chime going off at random. short term fix for that was just unplugging it.
I was 3 minutes in on Musty1 lawnmower video and got the bell for yours.......
Haha lawnmowers are fun too 😁
Awesome Ivan! I like that, no parts required!!!
Had a map or mab or whatever the air sensor on air intake. Cleaned with same stuff, worked for awhile. Looking carefully at connecter the stay put clip was cracked. Used small zip tie to keep together and no more problem.Everyone should have a can of that stuff. I’ve fixed flourencent lights with it spraying bulb end connections too
LOL 2002 Cherokee had this happen today. Saw your video, went and wiggled the cables under my driver's seat.... No more warnings in the dash. Thanks breh XD
Niiiice :)
Thank you alot!!!!! Ive been searching for days and cant find the problem! That fixed it. Probs on you.
Kind regards from Germany
Btw i have a jeep cherokee CDR KK from 2009.
When my alternator went out my airbag light was on; due to low voltage.
Awesome video, quick to the point fix. Thank you ! - 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Wow! I had the same problem with my 05 Caravan. I bought it with a airbag light. Code showed drivers seat. A little spritz with the CRC & the light was gone!
Drive around for a while and it comes back!
Escape/Mariner/Tribute were famous for something similar
Great video as always Ivan! Deoxit5 to the rescue! Bought some a year or two back after watching you use some! It is good stuff.
This guy's a GrandMaster!
a jeep with an airbag light on? you don't say :)))
So simple fix haha. Easy job for you!! Nice video!!
I was surprised myself 😅
Thank you Ivan. Great Video.
Thanks for your support Richard 👍🙂
Thx! Just wiggled it in my driveway and BAM! Fixed.
Diez! Another educational video from Ivan to enjoy my beer with. I luvz me some bonuz footage!
Nice use of live data with the airbag.
I'm going to try it tomorrow. I'll let you know.
Try to tighten the plug terminals first if there's no corsuson than they are loose or it will come back on
When there is any exhaust leak, it does not make sense to mess with any of the sensors, nor cat at all. There is momentary vacuum in the exhaust (due to all the pulsating waves), which draws in external air and this extra oxygen causes mayhem in the sensor reading. So first the leak, let the system some time to clean out and recalibrate (the air leak uses to screw up the trims before it gets detected as a fault and the adjustment is stopped) and only then take any sensor or cat "faults" into consideration.
When I bought my 2010 Jeep Patriot a year ago, the **Check Engine Light was on, the **3 Warning Lights that usually come on when a Wheel Bearing Hub &/or A Speed Sensor is bad, the **Airbag Light & the **4WD! Warning Light was on as well. After fixing two Grounding Pigtails under the Hood, all the lights are out with the exception of the 4WD! light. I've scanned the system & it has no stored fault codes so I'm guessing that there's a connection issue or another Ground Wire that's corroded, related to the 4WD System. Thanks for posting the video. I have fixed the Airbag Light issue before by unplugging, then plugging the Power Seat Harness back in. Jeep has some shitty engineering & cheap wiring on all their Jeep Model Lines....
Edit: When I first got the vehicle, the stored fault codes were for the O2 Sensors. That was fixed after the Grounding Pigtail work was done. The Grounding Issues can even fool a Code Scanner.....
Watched your Video… pleased with the way that helped. Was just wondering what type of OBD device that is… it seems like a really good one.. and do you recommend it ?
These airbag connector faults always come back usually when the seat is moved. The only 100% certain longterm cure is solder the wires BUT if the wires are soldered the airbag will no longer have the safety shorting bar. Same caveat applied if the connector is replaced by a non-airbag connector.
I think I have the same problem! If I pull the seat a bit forward & backwards quickly the lights go away😅
Most of the time at least.
Ivan does it again! No parts required. FYI Ivan Greek has 2 shiny new stickers on his windshield today! Passed with flying colors!
Great to hear Bill! I bet that feeling is priceless 😁
@@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics Couldn't hav done it wijtout you and the rest of the gang.
Thank you!!
Thank you
What is the brand of the scanning tool you are useing with codes and the spray stuff called?, I really like to have one 👍, thanks JW
Nice speedy fix ivan :-D
Dampness and corrosion, thankfully a super low current so no heating element effect and plasticus-melticus :-D
I run in to under seat connection a lot like this as they just get funky and have no weather resistance connections at all
Its common especially with older people that cannot hold there bladder.
@@publicmail2 DOH.
Thank you for this video. It is really useful 👍👍👍👌👌
What kind of scanner is that
No Russian repair on the catalyst efficiency codes?? I'm sure you have a drawer full of spark plug non-foulers for those downsteam O2s...
DeOxIt for the win. great stuff!
Thanks for the help 🙏
Thanks for the information man.
Ivan Macgyver to the rescue ;-)
Have a Range Rover P38 that throws srs light every time the seat is adjusted. Unplug connector and plug back in and no light until seat is moved again. These circuits are so sensitive.
Good job !!
A little early for oil burning? Maybe lots of miles. You really have to wonder how the automotive industry figures their terminators and wire engineering. Those items seem to fail way too soon and too often.
Works for 2018 Jeep wrangler
Ivan, If you had to pick one, would you buy the Launch Diagun or the X 431 Pro?
I also would like to know, will the diagun program keys and diag security faults, thanx Ivan
They have the same coverage of models. I love the portability and small dongle that clips into the case of the Diagun, while the 431 has a bigger screen obviously to graph data. So basically personal preference...
Ivan you look very happy with the Launch Diagun 4 and you use it a lot. Do you wish you got the Launch V+ tablet instead or do you like the easier portability of the phone size Diagun? You seem to use the Snap on Verus a lot more. PS Thanks for you and Eric O reminding me to get "giggy" with my wiring.
Buddy I think you just saved me $750. Next round is on me 🍻
Could you let me know what kind of scanner tool that is.
This little harbor freight 1 does the trick but definitely could use something more helpful like that one. 🤦🏽♂️ Lol
T.i.a
Thats funny, I diag the same thing today, but on a malibu. I wonder if GM & CHRYSLER use the same connectors.
Worked. Thanks!
I have this going on in my 08 JK. Before I saw this I just ordered a clock spring.
Does that sensor also turn off the seat belt warning light? I put in an aftermarket belt, cut and tied the wires by the door and the alarm won't stop going off.
Have you ever seen a problem in a jeep commander where the compas is not working, airbag light on and the blower motor, a/c light out all at the same time and come back working at the same time?
What scanner are you using? Model number and where could I purchase one?
Can I use the crc electronic cleaner for this?
What kind of code reader are you using?
Put those finicky connections to rest. DeoxIT. Your one stop cleaner. Good stuff. :0
They had a RECALL on that model year on " CATS. " don't know the exact SPECS. though ? I replaced mine with MAGNAFLOWS.
ohh cat codes and exhaust leaks both. did anyone ever change the spark plugs? many j-Heeps back then only had standard or nickel coated tip plugs and they sure didn't hold up well, needing changed by 5K ( I seen them go much further with huge gaps which killed the coils and boots LOL. side effect is enough unreported misfires to melt/clog CATs and spit codes.
and they wonder why I;ve been screaming about "junktronics" for years. they also love to leak just upstream and downstream of the rear O2's ( pretty much all of them)
What scanner & model, you are using? Thanks for the vid! 😊
Does airbag light cause jeep patriot to go into limp mode?
Great video, What is the brand and model number of that computer scanner in the video? Thanks
Can pull a fuse from a jeep jk wrangler 2007??? Air bags goes on and off every time it rains
For a component that pretty much determines whether you live or die, you'd expect them to build it in a at least more stable and reliable way, instead of tugging all harness under the seat and have them fail from slight movement... Imagine getting into a crash and your airbags do not deploy because of a loose cable, almost as if these car makers want you to bend over for $500 repairs so you get to live. Screw them all.
What computer is that that you are using to perform diagnostics? Can I buy one? Thanks
Very common on Hyundai vehicles for airbags
What obd scanner tool is this?
Dobrý deň akú diagnostiku máte? Je to android aplikácia? Ďakujem tu u nas je problém s diagnostikou, ja mam jeep grand cherokee wk 3,7

What is that reader that you are using with your phone?
Last time I was this early the dinosaurs weren't extinct.
i am alive and well! lol.
Ivan put a condom on that drivers seat before you sit on it, looked a little toxic to me. 😯 Which drawer do you keep the O2 anti foulers in? haha
LOL this Jeep is no virgin 🤣
Can't believe it's not a WeatherPak. Potential life saving equipment-
built cheap. All that SRS devices are such headaches, built so cheap.
Be careful with those devices- like a bomb. Residual static- and bye bye Ivan!
Nice... Still waiting on the video of you doing loops with a paramotor...😉🙂
Maybe next summer haha
