Cairo University (Arabic: جامعة القاهرة), also known as the Egyptian University from 1908 to 1940, and King Fuad I University and Fuad al-Awwal University from 1940 to 1952, is Egypt's premier public university. Its main campus is in Giza, immediately across the Nile from Cairo. It was founded on 21 December 1908; however, after being housed in various parts of Cairo, its faculties, beginning with the Faculty of Arts, were established on its current main campus in Giza in October 1929. It is the second oldest institution of higher education in Egypt after Al Azhar University, notwithstanding the pre-existing higher professional schools that later became constituent colleges of the university. It was founded and funded as the Egyptian University by a committee of private citizens with royal patronage in 1908 and became a state institution under King Fuad I in 1925. In 1940, four years following his death, the university was renamed King Fuad I University in his honor. It was renamed a second time after the Egyptian revolution of 1952. The university currently enrolls approximately 155,000 students in 20 faculties and 3 institutions. It counts three Nobel Laureates among its graduates and is one of the 50 largest institutions of higher education in the world by enrollment.

Hi! thanks for the great video. I just wanted to ask a few questions regarding this University because I am thinking to apply here this year.
1. Is there a specific tests or documents you need to take in order to get in to this uni? for ex. SATs, essays, grades
2. when is the deadline to apply for next fall?
3. Can I still attend to this uni even though I don’t speak arabic?
4. Do Cairo university has dorming?(

3. Yes, you can attend even if you don't speak Arabic. It would help though to learn some phrases to get you around with people.
4. Yes, they have dorms close to the main campus. But I think it's limited, so it might not be easy to find a room there.

@@iixi9064 صح، كلية طب وطب أسنان وصيدلة الناحية التانية من كوبري الجامعة يعني يعتبروا في محافظة القاهرة نفسها، انما الحرم الرئيسي في محافظة الجيزة.. كلية علاج طبيعي ورا سكن الطلبة ناحية المركز القومي للبحوث ودي برضو بعيدة شوية عن الحرم الرئيسي

I am chocked to have seen only arabic names in many universities about professors. I am chocked to have sawn many american, english or german univesity backgrounds instead french ones so much nearest in geography. I am chocked not sawn really an serious office for stranger student applications on webistes. I am chocked to have sawn an university opened during second war financed by germans. I am chocked to have sawn American or French university in Egyptia, it sounds as cononiolianism ended from long time in Egyptia but law right is able to give me surprises. I am chocked to have sawn an roman clock and an roman monument design at Egyptian university. Egyptian universities should have more confort an American univesity in their own county and have an Egyptian monument design at entrance or concret building if they would be neutral with an arabic clock for my point of view. Some arabs without arabic names could be intersted to work at Cairo University. They could be ancestral egyptians with some european names. How possible all this in Egyptia?
I can't find any problem in having universities in Egypt affiliated to other countries.
@@CampusMania I too, but every universities of an country should took name of city with an city, regional and national financement with under national public laws of univerities as well international civil university laws. Of course, if there are international laws, are there too co financements for international relations but puting an stranger nationality as name is not legal for my point of view. We could have infinite names of stranger universities inside others and with some particular financements. Not an universal rights with international, country, regional and city rights as well votes of university students and professors.

@@CampusMania it's not universal and legal to put american university in an stranger country. Puting Cairo university is universal with public international, narional, regional, city laws and votes of students as well professors. It's equal in public universities. There is only one university at Cairo, public university of Cairo for my point of view. It is not an focusing in Egyptia, it is an in point of view at international as well my own country of public university regulations. Since university have been accepted to have an public entrance with an baccalaureate with normaly modest financial contribution of students, the right inside university should be applied only if they are tooken name of city. At end, there is only one, the univesity of city with different corpus Economy, Sciences, Law, Letters and different places if needed inside city. At Cairo, they respected to put Cairo. With distance, university of Paris has been not kept and we are telling an name university with number of subdivision area. Populations grew. We are not telling: I have made university of Paris but an university at Paris as Pantheon in first place subdivision area of Paris. I made an public university. There is for my point of view only one univesity in this city, the public university with city name. The diference is about field: Economy, Law, Sciences, Letters, Medecine and Pharmacy. It is an point of view of an university graduated. That's why public university is very hard and appreciated. An low entrance cost but some hard exams. Money is not influencing or less than other educational systems. By consequence, private universities were not legual for my point of view as private colleges. I undrstand however some discussions about this subject. But if public is not enough well respected, for equity of evaluations with an strict control, world of universities should put first public universities. I refused to look for in an private university where I was graduated in public of same town by an professor because it was private. It's an ethical point of view if I have this idea. Why 23 years of efforts in public scolarship to turn at end to private? Not my desire for an thesis. I could considering I am not working in my interest and others from public university or public education. If I.found not easy an thesis professor, I am considering that law right of public universities is not enough applied or defended. I am pushing even university fight defense with thinking only university trainning courses first 5 years if existing should be passed in an public university. As same university laboratories should be used for an public university thesis. Private is available since first graduation however without any problems. For an university diploma, it should be only with internal public university control to validate it and be well recognized later and not cover an hidden private work.out an public university research work for an thesis for example; An better protection of law author rights for an university student. What is interest to make an trainning couse at an private car company ? No interest about university deontology for an student. If an private company would hire an university graduated, should they pay fully after been graduated but not during their studies. Regards.
