    I know this is a yr old review but thank you.. I am looking to get scuba certified in Caribbean. Was looking at the quarto plus but all I seen was 2016 model so was looking for video on dif. Between std and plus .. came across this vid. and I really appreciated it! So all you said, I would take it this would be a better fin then Quattro plus for scuba certification and then also reef snorkeling and diving? Thank you!

    if we have the Mares Avanti Super-Channel Open Heel Fin w/Bungee Strap, looking for a fin that might be a bit better in currents. are the excite pro fins similar "work effort" as the quatros (is the excite line the replacement for the quatro and super channel ??) any thoughts would be great. we just got back from St lucia, the currents deemed stronger that Nassau , and our next few trips will be Roatan, Bonaire, Cozumel , then curacao. advanced certified newbs with like 50+ dives. thanks so very much for your time.

      Hi Joel,
      That's an exciting itinerary!
      I've not tried the super-channels before so I can't make a direct comparison.
      However the excite pros are considered the best fins in the series, and they certainly have more power than the quattros.
      Do keep in mind however that fins of these types are designed for strong swimmers. So if that's you then upgrading might make sense.
      Happy diving!

    • @AquaticImages

      They're very different fins, not similar. Think you'll want to keep looking for Volo replacements ☺

  • @bragginrightsfishing7467

    I have the Quattros and they fall off while diving. They are nice and tight, but I feel like the straps are not the best. What aftermarket’s ones did you use?

    I'm considering buying them. Wonder how they will compare to my Scubapro Jet sport fins which i love. I can't seem to find the full length of the XL fins...I can only find 40cm blade length...

    • @AquaticImages

      You might find them lighter and more flexible. Equal power perhaps but somewhat different kicking technique. Both are great though 😊

    Hello sir, great review. I’ve got a question for you. I am not into scuba diving, just casually freediving and snorkeling. I have found someone that sales a new pair of avanti quattro plus + mares flexa ds 5mm boots for 60€. Basically at this point, 60 eur for this pair of flipper and boots sounds like a bargain to me so I am thinking to buy them and use them for freediving and snorkeling. What are you thoughts? My only requirement is to get a pair of flippers that can propel me powerfully under water so, I have to choose between this kit and a pair of spearfishing diving flippers. What would you advise me to do? If I get the Mares avanti quattros, would those be powerfull enough?

    • @AquaticImages
      @AquaticImages  Před rokem +1

      Hi Marius!
      Sounds like a decent bargain indeed. However I wouldn't recommend getting the quattros exclusively for snorkeling / freediving. They were never designed for that use. You'll most likely find them very heavy to move on the surface.
      For going down they are ok, but can't really compare to a good pair that's designed for this use.
      Hope that helps!
      Andy

    Hi, was considering buying fins for swim training and using them for occasional snorkelling and underwater hockey sessions. I have tried dive fins before but they were way too stiff for swim training which requires fast kicking and my ankles just could not handle it. Came across these and was interested in getting them, maximizing power isn't really my top priority, more of a balance between the ability to kick fast and power (without it hurting too much), would you suggest me getting these or are there more suitable fins?

    • @AquaticImages
      @AquaticImages  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi,
      Long fin blades (like these ones) are really not suited well for swimming. For the needs you're describing with fast pace finning I would look at getting a pair of shorter fins designed for snorkeling.
      Hope that helps
