The crusty old salt in me kicked in when I thought "the reason you don't feel the heat is because you don't get to do the huge jet fuel fires in the burn pit like we used to" 😂. But he's not kidding, that reflective-coated ARFF bunker gear is pretty impressive when you compare it to structural gear (As long as you're not in a confined space where the trapped heat is more important than the radiant heat).

Gizmo Goose. Lol they have some training. A marine once told me he was the equivalent of an emt because he had gone though combat life saver course. That’s not the case. But they do everything they can till corpsman/ ems arrives.
I just enlisted to do this for the marines. Still got a year till I ship out though bc I’m in high school
