Wow! I wouldn't have guess that much for what looks like a relatively small extension (never done any concrete work, so just not familiar with how much it takes). How much did that cost? Thanks for the video! Really cool to see this type of thing; I'm looking forward to having land and building someday but until then it's fun to enjoy watching others build!
@@moldovancrisis5482 concrete work is pretty cheap if you do it yourself. This cost about $250 for all the concrete, rebar, and mixer rental. It’s just a lot of hard manual labor. Very satisfying though when it goes as planned.
@MichaelBuilt Wow, that's really cool! Now I just need to get the land! 😃 Probably won't have it before fall, so it'll probably be next year I start, but cheap hard labor is exactly what I'm looking for so that's perfect. I need a break from working on a computer all day.
@@moldovancrisis5482 it is awesome owning a home. You can really add value to a home/property if you’re willing to put in the work and learn new skills. Good luck with yours!
@@user-go5od1ef1m this was extremely compacted clay, and hard as rock. And we rarely have freezing temperatures, so no concern about the ground heaving.
So, if it's just bare concrete finish (i.e no tiles on top) , need to allow steel reinforcement bar as what you did ? Becos I have seen in other videos , after compaction of hardcore, they just put mass concrete base (1Cement + 5sand + Wtr mix ) & lay tiles on top.
This was an extension of an existing concrete patio, with a matching broom finish. The rebar makes the concrete stronger, but I mainly used it to keep everything from moving away from the existing patio. The rebar is drilled into the existing patio.
In case you’re wondering, this took thirty 60lb bags of concrete.

Hell right🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Thanks!
I'm surprised at the people that pour straight on dirt. You're just asking for trouble

@@MichaelBuiltdid you pu at "expansion joint" in between?
@@budgettech5526No expansion joint. If it were a large slab addition, then I would have added one, but this was pretty small.
