Too funny. My friend used to do that to his cat with that exact can opener. Same color and everything. So funny for you to mention it since I was thinking about his can opener when she was showing it.

Unfortunately 90% of the thrift stores around here hire folks to rummage through the donations for anything of value to sell on line for the company. They never make it to the floor ! Goodwill is one of these.

I wish I had that purse, I thought it was lovely because I still like shiny things. I have a wonderful steel fan that probably came out of a government office from the '30s. I found it on the street, and it worked immediately when I plugged it in. It's also like standing in front of an airplane propeller when it's on. I love it! My partner rewired it for me when a capacitor blew out, and it's so solid and built much better than anything made now.

Thanks for the information you provide! It's a great help to know upfront what to look out for. I've always loved vintage items and antiques for some reason. It seems so ironic that most products made in decades/centuries past were so much better crafted with higher quality materials and workmanship, when there was less technology and precision machinery, yet today we have those tools and can even send people into outer space, yet you can't buy a toaster that will last more than a year before breaking!!! 🤔

I have a jewelry box like the the one with the swan on the top but mine is clear. I bought it at an antique shop probably 15 years or so ago. Can't remember what I paid . Probably between 2.00 - 5.00.

'70a colors were avocado green, harvest gold, and burnt orange. Copper tone was more from the '60s. We had it on our cook top and wall oven in a house built in 1963. Interesting that she says muted colors reflect a recession. We must be in the worst one yet based on the non-colors we see everywhere now. All grey, black, white and other dull muddy colors.

Coppertone was popular in the 1970s too. I report this information about design to help viewers understand and identify the trends and how colors reflect society. Current monochromatic colors are not muted colors. Thanks for watching.

@@DrLoriV Thank you. I didn't remember so much coppertone in the '70s as I did the other colors. Fun video. The colors today, to me, are drab and depressing. I'll be glad when that trend goes away.

People use my online appraisal report to help them sell. The reports include a location where a similar piece sold. One follower used my report to help them sell a plate for over $1,000. They bought it at a yard sale for $1. I help a lot of resellers make money!

It’s at the top of my to do list though because sometimes I have questions about things that I have found that have been really hard to research online myself and I don’t know how many times I’ve said to myself “Well Crud , i know Dr. Lori would know!” 😁 So for now I have just binge on a lot of your videos so I can learn as much as I can lol.

Rats! I had a cheese server listed on ebay forever. It was pink, European, and very pretty. I didn't know to use the word "server" though. Had to put it on deep sale and I hope it went to a good home.

Hi Dr Lori, thanks again for a great video!
Curious if there is a market for just antique frames without artwork in theme?
Also, on a completely different note my hubby and I were curious how you feel about the show "American Pickers" and the type of value information they give? Would you find them to be giving accurate values?
