Today I learned: I am a female motorcyclist. Muchas gracias Papa Yam!
Same man, same!
i was going to write a comment on my own, but yours is perfect. 43 yo male rider on a Ninja 650 as a first bike, i am definitely a female motorcyclist category enjoyer.
congratulations on your transition, yOuRE So BrAVe, LiVInG YOuR TrutH/s
Same Sister! Not sure how to tell my parents the news
same 😂 love my r3 tho
The “No wife, no kids, 100% hi-viz got me lol
im not 100% hi-viz tho
The ADV dad junior is literally 100 % me.
I was wondering if it was me as well. I've been riding almost 50 years starting on RD250, then race prepped RD350 that wheelied the 1st 3 gears on the pipe, then road raced an FZ600 in the 80's. My last triple digit HP bike was Buell XB12 SCG. I rode some dirt bikes as in my teens but, never owned one and last year I bought an XR150 just because it was cheap and looked fun. So far I haven't been wrong as it is more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow at my age, lol.
It was so accurate it’s scary, lol.
I mean it could be worse
Bro. I just got my lisen two weeks ago and i looking at a Kawasaki versys 650 omfg
Wow I felt attacked. Glad there are others like me 🤣
personally attacked for the 600
Same and I haven’t even bought one yet 😂 I just want a fucking four cylinder without having to pay 10 fucking grand for a 90s 400 or a new ZX4RR 😭😭😭
@@griffins750if you just want the 4 cylinders but without the actual performance and discomfort just get a cbr 650r or something like it
@@cataclysmicdelta1828 That’s actually one of the bikes I’m looking at, but even used they’re a bit pricey for a bike I’m probably going to drop, but we’ll see. I’m in absolutely no hurry, I’ve got a 97 Integra GSR I’m currently burning all of my money to restore so getting a bike isn’t my first priority just something I’m interested in for the future.

Midlife Crisis Beginner here, except single/no kids, I listened to my MSF instructor, I hate IPAs, and bought a Scout in hopes of finding a woman who will overlook my obvious flaws because I ride a motorcycle. The depressed part was spot-on though!
I'm a Midlife Beginner without the Crisis. Loving life and happily single w/ no kids. I definitely don't think I know it all. I'm more of a sponge trying to soak up as much knowledge about motorcycles so that hopefully it'll save my life one day. I just feel the need for speed, well maybe a little speed. 80mph is plenty for me 😁
Midlife also, but with wife and kids. Taking the MSF course next month and plan to listen fully to instructors and learn everything I can and I'm not wasting my money on a dang BMW. I also don't drink. We midlifers come in many forms.
Indian Scout is the best motorcycle ever made. Can't change my mind lol I'm 25 btw so it isn't an age thing
@@SimonRiley752buy a honda 600rr or f4i
These r the most reliable motorcycles in the market
Turning 36 this summer. Next week my my new cbr650r will arrive and that's my first bike ever. Mid-life crisis I guess.
We are in the same boat.
Yup!!
Nice choice
Same!
Hope the water pump doesn't leak oil like mine did :)
I was a 600cc beginner at 17 years. I didn't sell it, though. I recked it hard and then, a year later, bought another 600 CBR. 22 years later I ride an XSR900.
I just got an xrs900 how do you like it?
Me fr at 16, hopefully minus the wrecking part
@@kimicrewe4443 Well you spelled it right, so hopefully there's more hope for you than dthompsont3796.
I'm on the downhill to 60, riding for decades so when the orthopedist told me I needed a hip replacement I put the near half ton HDs to rest. I picked up the 430lb CFMOTO 700 CL-X and have put 17,000 miles in less than 10 months of riding time. Less than $7k for a 74hp, adjustable suspension, 6 speed, slipper clutch, dual ABS, full LEDs, cruise control AND self cancelling turn signals isn't being budget conscious, it's called having fun. If I don't get killed on it, my body will wear out before the Kawasaki engine does so I'm not worried about resale value. Keep up the great work
I respect that
Just rode my Rebel 300 on the freeway to a job interview, got the job. This was my 4th time literally even touching a motorcycle.
Anyone who wants a job bad enough to ride a 300 on the highway to the interview should of course be hired immediately. If you then commute on it, they should promote you after 90 days!
That's a signal for you to ride more.
Was it an interview as a motorcycle instructor ? 😂😂
I relate to the female rider you described so hard. Full gear: check, sat on so many just to get the one suitable for my 5ft2: check, tier system of licencing: i live in Europe so check, well trained: again europe so the standards are a bit higher than two day weekend course. Bought a honda VTR250, passed my A2 licence test couple weeks ago and now when I have time and the weather allows I enjoy my life as a new rider
Same here! Haven't bought the bike yet, but I did buy all my gear and I plan to get plenty of practice this summer on dirt bikes. I've researched and bookmarked state laws and requirements to get licensed, and I also picked a bike that suits me at 5'4
VTR250 is a great bike! I wish they were available here.
Well shit. We have 2 new riders in the house. Both are on this god-forsaken list.
lol which category?

Good on ya! I grew up when all you needed was a learner's permit to ride solo(the full license was required to ride with someone). I picked up a ton of bad habits that I learned about years later taking the MSF course.
This ADV dad jr is grounding you for calling him out. go to your room and think about what you have said.
gonna buy a 600 as my first bike and yes it's a gsxr
Same to me a 600 for start and is a Yamaha Fazer model year '02 carburated
My first bike was a 05 gsxr 600. Loved it.

i had a 125cc at 16 and this weekend i'm going full ADV dad junior. i don't plan on sitting in coffee shops. i'll actually be riding.

Yeah, he's more of a windowless van guy.
Odd comments
He has a rimac nevera
Yeah he's more of a trike smug
I thought I was the only one who found that statement peculiar. Lol
Yammie the Noob crashing is one types of new riders.
going 35yo this year, planning on becoming a midlife crisis beginer :D Hope to go straight for a MT-07 after driving a 50cc since 16yo and never having any kind of incident...Wish me luck :D
Throttle control.
Just stick to the law until you're adapted, and you should be fine.
2 ways beginners go down: gravel, and people in cars. Careful around both!
I’m also 35, riding only for a year, went from an R125 to an R7 no problem, you’ll be fine with the MT07.
You'll be alright! Mid life crisis squid here and I got the mt 09 as my first bike😅
I straight up learn driving on a 650 at driving school here in Germany, so I will of course buy a 650 bike as well once I got my license :)
Your content is really fun. Sure, there are really good articles with a wealth of knowledge I want, but then you do gems like this that let me laugh at us.
as someone who is riding a bike back from the dealership on saturday, i can say im ready to ride into the first ditch i see. as long as the irish weather doesnt come right at me and lash down rain onto me
Just found out from a friend that you can get the Benelli bikes serviced at the gun store. As long as they sell Benelli shotguns they'll fix your bike
Sounds to me like one of those "just because you can doesn't mean you should" situations lol😅. I'd love to see a guy who services guns try to diagnose and repair an early 00's Benelli Tornado
Instructions unclear:
Took Benelli M3 to Benelli dealership for service and got swatted as a result.
As a beginner ADV rider, I would say Yammie nailed it!
When I was a new rider, 54 years ago in England, we were all 16 and clueless, riding a selection of worn out, mostly British, small capacity (less than 250cc) bikes. No rider training in those days, you just made your mistakes as a learner, survived if you were lucky, then took your test and were allowed to ride anything.
The system here has changed since then. New riders have to start on a 125cc and work their way through a series of tests, over several years, before getting an unlimited licence. No doubt safer, but it puts a lot of people off.
At nearly 70, I'm still riding, but none of the other lads I knew back then are.
I took the msf course on a 250 cruiser. I bought a 900 cruiser as my first bike and now I’m getting a zx4r.
Started on my first bike 700 about 6 months ago love it taking it easy and learn and practice
Hilarious. So good I watched it twice and shared it!
Man you really hit all the nails on the head with the description of these "New Riders"🤣🤣🤣🤣the EV BIKE Guy! 🤣🤣 & the Minibike Guy! Priceless!
2024 600 hundred squid starter here. Just got yesterday a Yamaha R6 2007. When i tried to brake for the first time time I stoped so hard that my balls got kicked by the bike, at first it hurt but after I couldn't help but laugh at myself. Didn't drop her not a single time though and I'm having lots of fun, getting a bike that you like (always dreamed of owning an 2006-2007 R6, they are kind of rare here in Brazil) is something that definetely changes your life, every time I wake up in the morning and see my R6 in the garage it brings me immense joy. Just go easy on the clutch and don't try to do any stupid stuff to impress people around you nor try to pretend be a MotoGP superstar and I think it is fine.
Yammie Noob at his best! Spitting in our faces and shitting on our chests.
I'm the "Chinese bike guy 🏍" 😅 I bought my first motorcycle that was delivered to me in a box and I loved it. You are spot on. Wow
EV GUY here! that is my fun bike that i dont need to worry about, and i take many race courses on "normal" race bikes. also i take out some motorcycles to try out from some dealerships so give us some respect cause we do you and other bikers as well.
proud owner of an EVA RS.
I don't have a bike yet, but I've been eyeing a few different ones. 35 yrs old here. Been looking at a Ninja 500, CFMOTO 450SS, Honda Rebel 500, or maybe even a Honda NC750X. Not sure what type of riding I want to do. So these all got a chuckle from me, especially the mini bike squids. 😂
Early 40's beginner rider here that inherited his dad's 2016 ultra glide... It's been an interesting start. Rode a buddies ZX10R the other day and fell in love. That's the next horse in the stable. Gotta live up to the stereotype haha.
"rockform has cases for every phone" except galaxy folds 😅
I just started riding on the 11th of April 2024 never ridden before (literally my first day msf course). I ordered a Ducati Hypermotard 950sp (1st bike) loved motorcycling so much I already am planning on ordering the superleggera v4...🎉😅🎉
Yeah good luck, motorcycling is ONLY about the speed and you not being able to handle it.
Speed... well, surviving warp speed lol going to keep the hypermotard and upgrade it over time as well...
First bike 2022 MT09, great purchase.
Much love! ❤🩹
Where is the “mega-researcher” beginner rider?
I would say included in the adv dad junior.
Ive never felt so recognized. Im definitely most like a midlife crisis beginner, but not quite. I'm depressed, just getting into riding, but trying to stay under a certain budget until I figure out if I really enjoy it. Which is why I've got my eye on your favorite bike, the Kawasaki Vulcan. Not the S, but the 900.
You’ll enjoy it. I mean it. Just get one. You won’t regret it.🤔😉✌️
He forgot about the 155lb 20 yro whose convinced he can start on a 1000 because it’s from 2001 and he’s gifted at everything he touches🙇🏽♂️😂
that was yammie
Oops me except 23
Honestly never met a beginner rider on a I4 liter bike but I'm sure they exist...basically the 600 noob but alot more money to burn.
I feel seen! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Except I did roller derby then motorcycles.
This killed me dude. ❤🤌
I've been here when i bought my R3 +- 8 years ago and you got one too that time. That's how i found you. I drive an MV now
The middle life crisis guy at the msf is fucking legit😂😂! I had a dude like that in my msf white beard already had the bike I forgot the brand but it was a 600cc, rocking a shoei helmet & all alpine star gear & a vape💀💀😂
makes me wonder if we went to the same course lmao i had the exact same experience today
@@BadgerFiresFoam I live in Washington idk! I’d say the stereotype literally exist😂😂
China bikes are a perfect way to see if you like owning motorcycles. Got mine for 1800, used the heck out of it, learned all about carbs, doing your own maintenance and repairs. Got a DRZ after selling it for 1600. There's just not a lot of aftermarket or middle man money to be made so no love by CZcamsrs.
At 40 I started having kids.
Before 40, it was no rope cliff climbs, rock fishing and just a danger/adrenaline fiend.
After having kids, it happened........ Ii needed to consider my mortality.
So I got into motorbikes.
Ninnie 300, Zx10r, Gixer 750 and for the past 5 years, my Gen 2 Busa.
And still loving it❤😁
Do you write all of your scripts for your videos? Love it man!
I’m dead ☠️🤣😂🤣😂🤣 only you papa Yam can break it down in such a hilarious manner. Love your content brother!
Yams. Let me begin by saying, I have a high regard for your content, when a video by you appears on my feed i watch it even if i do not care about the premise. Anyways, there is a type of rider out there you have yet to discover... And you probably never will. Good luck to you and thank you for what you do
Just got my Himalayan, and except for the hipster coffee place, I 100% agree haha!!!
As someone who works at cycle gear… you nailed it😂
I’m 17 just bought my first bike ever first time ever riding a motorcycle besides a dirtbike. And it’s 2012 r6 and I love it
Should have had an honorable mention: The Chicken Strip Heckler. Those squids that heckle other riders because "they don't use the whole tire", even though they live in a place like Arizona where there are more rain storms than curvy roads.
Also, I ride a '22 Super Cub, call me the Midlife Crisis Minibike Squid. I just wanted something for fun, I don't live in an area that has tracks to race on or long winding roads to cruise.
To be fair, we have many, many curvy roads in Arizona. They are just out of the way, on the sides of mountains, often with a bit of rock fall, and looking out over valleys and washes filled with vehicles that didn’t make the turn because the terrain is too rough to haul them out.
Edit: ...and the paving hasn't been refreshed since the Eisenhower administration. Very important detail, that....
I'm glad I managed to make this list
Bruu first rider with electric bike 💀💀💀
You missed the Millennial new rider, who, after college, kids and career is just getting into motorcycles. These folks are usually budget conscious cruiser guys, starting on Honda Shadows and Yamaha Vstars. They ride mostly to work, but dream of someday taking that long cross-country tour, if they can ever pry themselves away from their responsibilities.
I think the beginner 600 squid is a dying breed simply because there aren't many 600's left. They are turning into the 7/800 squid.
some people have been starting on e-bikes to avoid the stress and fear of learning to shift while moving quickly or at a red light about to start and then stalling, and the cfmoto 450ss has been growing popularity for beginners. one example is motochrispy he started on a cfmoto a month ago his first video blew up and got 150k views in 2 weeks. it has had a recall, but thats a good thing it means their actually fixing issues with the bikes. unless its too many recalls then stay away from it
First bike is a 1985 KLR 600 - splitting the difference between 600 squid and ADV Dad Jr. Thanks for the shoutout!
i just passed my MSF course this past weekend, so I'm probably going to be one of these
Hi ADV dad junior here. NX500 is really great to ride. Just happy to be comfy.
I really hope Yam does a video on the Japanese Chopper Scene going on right now.
Looking over at my dr200👀 it ain’t much but it’s an absolute blast to ride around
female rider is so real. i grew up on bikes but still took learning on the road seriously, started on a small bike, and mostly rode with my dad the first 6 months. been licensed for a year now and i hope to keep improving! i'll think about getting a big bike once i can master the 400. my dad says if you can't have fun on a 400 you're not a good enough rider and/or you're riding the wrong roads. 🤷♀️
I have to admit I was the 600 squid. I bought a Ninja 250 brand new and thought after my first night riding it, that I needed something more powerful instead of learning to ride properly. 2 months later, I bought a 10 year old I4 600 and promptly low sided it in the hills trying to keep up with a much better rider(wasn't hurt and the bike was fine). I have little excuse because even tho the Ninja 650 paralel twin level bikes were just starting to come out(around 2007/2008), I should not have been on an I4 600, even a 10 year old one.
Luckily, beginner riders now have better options that won't feel underpowered once you get some riding experience.
I got an 04 Yamaha R6 as my first bike and to ride it well it probably took me around a month and I was already use to it’s power by that time, I did start first by learning the clutch engagement and rolling on first gear and switching gears on my boys 650r for about an hour ? Got use to it somewhat fairly easy before hopping on the R6.
I like seeing the local Grom gang out riding. I’ve even seen a turbo Grom and a few times a Grom rider all by themselves.
Midlife Crisis Beginner checking in. Turn 39 in a couple weeks. Rode dirt bikes a bit as a kid and bought a YZ250FX a couple weeks ago. Is the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ a good starting bike? My bro used to ride a liter bike if it helps. My favorite IPAs are all made by Goose Island. I haven't been to the MSF yet, but I do intend to listen to them.
I love my cfmoto. Besides closest Yamaha or kawi dealer was plenty of area codes away.
I see the CF Moto bikes at my local dealership. I ride a Ninja ZX-6R and ya know what…I think the CFs look cool. No judgement from me here. Whatever gets you out on 2 wheels ans enjoying the sun and wind. I’d ride with you Brotha.
I felt personally attacked with the squid 600 one. Especially with that Facebook description 😂
Yup that's soo true vroom vroom 🏍
I kinda squeeze into multiple groups. 49, married, no kids. Wanted a dirt bike to ride with wife while she is horseback riding. Ended up getting a TW200 and I am on the road (back, side and in town roads) more than the trails. I do love the trails though. So I guess I’m close to the mini bike group lol, kinda on the adventure bike dad side as well.
I’m already wanting to upgrade but I can’t imagine getting rid of my TW. Thinking of getting a Honda CB 500x next. Good for the streets but not afraid of the trails.
We will see bc I have to save up. My truck just needed massive engine repairs. GMC owners with the V8’s that switch to 4 cylinder for fuel economy…..beware.
I'm a Yammie Noob and Fortnine consumer, and this year I bought my gear!
I started on a 2003 Suzuki Katana 600 about 8 months ago and i think it is a great first bike. I bought it with only 6100 miles on it tho and it was completely stock and unmolested
Unfortunately I did not make the cut. Started on a clean r6 because I could afford it and rode it for a few months until I was ready to feel the full power of the bike😇😇
Me, the 600 squid, who started on a modified R6 about 2 weeks ago. Knew it was stupid, but is one of my dream bikes so. Dont have any friends who ride that recommended a 600, just love high pitched exhaust tone. It really was either this or a 1988 CBR250 and driving a classic seemed stupider. Watched a lot of your videos, have done some MotoJitsu drills, feel like keeping in the low revs is pretty legit. Only really open it up in really open straight roads I know very well just to experience it a little. Definitely respect the machine though since I know it wasn’t the wisest starter bike. Just didn’t want to deal with selling an R3/RC390 after a year or two. This could just be an ignorant comment though.
I''m like the Midlife Crisis Beginner, only that I'm 28 with no kids or anything. Had a 70cc two stroke supermoto 10 years before i got my current bike, which is a 2011 Yamaha R1 Big Bang. No ABS and TCS mind you. But it was my dream bike and I didn't want to buy a 600 hundred only to have to sell it after one season. It was scary at the beginning somewhat knowing what the bike is capable of, but if you take it very carefully and slowly and gradually try ride it faster, not directly from the get go - it's doable. But I wouldn't recommend it to anybody to do what I did. Also the first thing I did after I bought the bike was to spend a bit over 1000$ on a 2 part leather suit, boots, gloves and a full-face carbon fiber helmet. Whatever you do - DON'T CHEAP OUT ON GEAR!!!
The ADV dad junior is literally 100 % me
10:36 - That image had me in stitches.
And still no mention of a Suzuki V-Strom, come on yammie, see the light
Great writing! The old guy fit me to a tee. Wife couldn’t stop laughing. Except I’m not selling mine . 😅
I guess I fall into the mid life crisis crowd. 57 here and looking to get into riding for basically the first time in my life. Only experience I have had is a Honda Trail 70 from when I was a teenager...wish I still had that for what they cost nowadays...I could retire.
Nailed the minibike one so hard hahaha(i own a tnt135, sportster s and a z h2)
Well well well. Turns out I fall into the Chinese noodle squid lot, being british and only on a cbt im restricted to a 125cc and was definitely not forking out £5k for a bike I only plan on keeping for a year. So just under £3k I spent. But wow how its still together 5 months later has surprised me. Nothing has fallen off just yet well minus the rear wheel. The headlight and the brake lever but we don't need them do we......but thanks Yammie made my day watching this video
TOTALLY the Chinese squid 😆😆😆
Both sides lol... Started on a X-Pro X-24 (you know it as the Boom BD-250-5! 😂) I sold it, and now I have a CFMoto 650 Adventura! I do not care at all about brand recognition, and time will tell if I am regretting it for reliability. All of this is within 7 months lol. I liked my little X-pro (Boom) lol. It just wasn't going to be enough bike for me in the long-term so it was time to move up.
The thing with the cheap bikes straight to your door, is it makes riding more accessible to more people. I think that is something you are overlooking. I felt intimidated buying a bike from a dealership or an individual with no knowledge or experience riding. It was like a convenient and discreet training wheels bike. Guaranteed new, and guaranteed cheap. I bought on Amazon, so I had the additional layer of customer service if there was an issue. The bike ran just fine. I put 400 miles on it, and now I have put about 300 on the CFMoto.
With CFMoto, I just really like the modern tech and it is a great value for the money. It really helps they are so good at DESIGN. If their bikes were not so easy on the eyes, I would not like them as much. I just think they are a tremendous value, especially if you can find NEW USED. I got mine with 1100 miles on it for $4000. For a 2022. A Japanese 650 10 years older with 10k more miles would be $1000 more. I am putting my money on them being good for the long-haul as well. As long as people trust KTM, I trust CFMoto. Sucks mine doesnt have cruise control like the 700clx, but I can live without it. I still have the sexy TFT and rider modes and stuff. Bike tracking and monitoring come standard with the CFMoto Ride app. I love it.
Mine warned you to ride just as "GAREFULLY" lol. I put a sticker over that... 😂
I started on a venom ghost 250. Rode it for 3 years, finally replaced it with a z400.
When I first started riding I was always so scared of crashing that I could not skip wearing my gear
I really hate that I fit into the 600 squid category but I got a full suit and gear, and I ride safer now for sure. Love the content tho man!
Turning 50 next week never road a day in my life, but that Ducati 1299 is calling my name. Where are the brakes at on this thing again?😆🤣😆🤘🏾🤘🏾
