    After spending the last few months running Integrated Engineering's Stage 1 - E85 tune in my 2018 Audi S4, I wanted to share with you all my feedback on what I like and what I don't like about the tune. The ZF8 speed auto is one of my favorite transmissions. I do love the DQ500 in my RS3, but there's something really crazy about the ZF when you do launch mode. I used to have a ~650hp '14 BMW 550i xdrive, and it would feel like the car got kicked in the ass on shifts, like an extra boost on shifts. It was really cool. Too bad that car was so heavy, and that twin turbo V8 has BMW problems...

    I went from B8 to B9 (both stock) and much prefer the DSG. I share the same sentiments as you except I feel that the DSG is smoother overall, just jerky going from a stop into 1st. The ZF8 has this lurch (drivetrain slop?) when upshifting in the lower gears but the DSG shifted so seamlessly. The only thing the ZF8 has over the DSG is more comfortable highway cruising due to having 8 gears vs 7. What I miss the most from my B8 is the more exciting shifts in S mode. The B9 in S mode basically feels like D but with more torque. Currently I'm deciding between IE and 034 tunes. I'm really looking forward to see the TCU tunes make the ZF8 more responsive and smooth.

    Hey, Adam, great video again, you look so positive even when you are talking about cons of your car..:) what are the first stage 2 steps you are going to take...and if you are chasing better drag results with bigger turbos may be soon you are going to miss this nice torque and response at lower rpm with this let's say "small" turbocharger?! Where do you think is the limit of this car to be really fully enjoyable daily...

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Před rokem +1

      Even though they're cons, the positives still greatly outweigh them so I can't stop smiling, haha. Time will certainly tell on how much i continue to enjoy the drivabilityof the car! The only part missing to go Stage 2 would be a downpipe. As for what the car will feel like past that I won't know until I get there!

    In my A7(C7), SC V6, I get about the same mileage on a stage 1 91 tune on Shell 93. 17.86 l/100 km or 13.17 mpg all city driving. 10.35 l/100 km or 22.72 mpg on my last hwy drive.
    Have to agree with combining the ecu and tcu tunes. 👍
    Story time. So I went with the IE stage 1 and tcu and IE intake and did them at Reiter. When I drove back to Vancouver it was just incredible how much power there was across all the rpm range and I really noticed it at highway speeds in plain auto. Just press on the gas and away I went. 😁
    The one thing I wasn’t liking was how it would downshift from 3-2 in auto and in manual mode when coming to a stop. It was jarring and I’m more concerned about my passengers than myself. It would do it all the time but it was still noticeable. I flashed back to stock TCU and that roughness went but so went the power. I had thought I accidentally flashed everything back to stock.
    So I reflagged my 91 tune and tested and it seemed like there was more power but not what I felt before. I then reflagged the tcu and welcome back power. 😁 Also I think the rough downshifts are less. I have to go test more but I’ve been stuck at home.
    TL:DR - Combine ECU and TCU tunes for best results.

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Před rokem

      To provide you a bit of an answer for your lack of power, supercharged motors need more rpm's to generate more power. By running a stock TCU tune you have a lower redline meaning your engine won't make as much power up top. I demonstrated that here: czcams.com/video/IBtlrhrq9-g/video.html

    Are you running the included the stage 1 TCU tune? Approx. how many gallons of 93 do you think you put in to get around the e62-e64 realm? I know it depends on what percentage the gas station is selling but I was just curious ballpark how many gallons to get that mix

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Před rokem +1

      I state in the summary that I'm running the IE TCU tune. I'm using their Stage 2 Race Launch (Slicks Only) because I drag race at the track with drag radials. To blend my fuel I put a 25L jerry can of E100 in my tank and mix that with like 17L of Shell 93 which contains 10% ethanol most of the time. I think that's what it is off the top of my head, haha.

    My S5 B9 has a Unitronics Stage 1 plus and I’ve noticed a significant lag when driving say 30 mph the accelerating to merge and I’m not sure if a TCU tune will improve this issue. I’m considering the IE version since Unitronics has not released a TCU to date. Does the IE ECU/TCU tube reduce the lag with a rolling acceleration?

    • @VancityAudi

    So I’m not the best one to explain this but, in my case with my B8 A4 and the ZF 6 speed when I launch it from a stop it doesn’t do the farts until 4th gear that it does it, and when I don’t launch it, it farts all the time, my friends B8.5 A4 with the ZF 8 speed does the same thing but with 5th gear, I guess it could be the same for all of them I’m not sure

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Před rokem

      That literally sounds like the exact same thing I'm dealing with. It may be a problem for multiple ZF transmissions. With that said though I've seen and heard ZF's that stay in AMAX every gear.

    Love your videos. E85 has ~25% less energy per gallon as compared to gasoline so those numbers don't sound horrible. My normally 16 mpg Nissan Titan gets 12 mpg when on E85, so 25% less. With gasoline, your in town only would have been ~20 mpg and on your road trip would be ~32 mpg . My stock B8 gets 24-25 mpg in mixed driving so 18 mpg or so if on E85, and much less if just city driving.

    I'm wondering if the crap gas mileage is from running e85 vs cruising on a 91 tune. You'd think the turbo 3.0 would be more fuel efficient than the old s/c engine, although I had one in my 09 A6 and it was only .5 L/100 worse than my b8 a5 2.0t with the zf8 on a bad day

    • @VancityAudi

    I still can't wrap my head around how fast your car is. Like I've said before, we've dyno'd our cars at the same place, o know how much power our cars make comparatively, and your car is faster down the strip. It's insanely fast. I have to chalk it up to the transmission and the fact that you have launch control. I have the zf6hp21 with a stage 3 transmission flash and I just can't match your times no matter how hard I try. Wicked fats car man

      @@VancityAudi I have dyno'd my car at RG, I made over 500whp uncalibrated, but they printed my sheet with the corrected numbers at 598whp, and 573ft/lbs tq. My car is a BMW 335xi with hybrid turbos and FBO with e50 fuel. I can always call RG to get the uncorrected dyno numbers, but just don't really care about the dyno as much as running a good track time. My MPH with the weight of my car matches up to the dyno numbers at 125mph. But I'm losing time on the 60ft, and maybe in the shifts...I've stated before on another video of yours that my best time was an 11.500 at 124.5mph with a 1.98 60ft

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Před rokem +1

      @@SuperHbkforever So you're making 100hp more than me. As for why my car is that much quicker is an easy explanation in my eyes though. You are clearly making more jam than I am seeing as my best trap speed to date has been 122 and yours 125. 3mph being a huge difference. As for the ET it's like you said, all in the launch and the gear changes. My 60ft's being high 1.5's or low 1.6's are much quicker than yours. My car is launching way more effectively than yours. Then we get to the gear changes, my ZF8 auto doesn't lower the torque through my gear changes, it bangs right through the gears making it shift quicker and more effectively. Honestly though if you can get that 60ft down to even a 1.7 that is 2 tenths quicker putting you at an 11.3 instead of an 11.5.
