  • amzn.to/18ZxRQo This is where I got my pump. It worked great! It's actually a Whirlpool pump because they made these machines for Kenmore. The part # on mine was 3363394. You will want to check yours and make sure it the same thing. This same dis-assembly and assembly will probably work similar for other makes and models but this is specifically for Kenmore 80 Series. I hope this can be of help to others and same you a lot of money doing this yourself. If I saved you a lot of money on repairs would you consider donating to my channel so I can keep making repair videos? Check out the donate button in the "about" section of my channel. Thanks.

Smart Easy DIY yes, I saw it later and just ordered it. I opened up my kenmoor but I didn’t see anything obvious. I touched the hose that was connected to back output panel. See the picture here:
      1drv.ms/u/s!AqnZganodVqhg7wZRL6wNUaAwUg9XQ
I didn’t see any clip there and it was wet. I will replace the pump and see.

No need to remove the screws from the back of the panel. They actually aid when tilting the control panel up and it rests more gently.

I am also a senior lady~~ of 74--I tackled this job and the only difficulty was removing the old pump. After soaking for a day I went back at it. Beat, pried , jiggled and finally off it came!! Whew! Of course the shaft was rusty--so I cleaned it and sanded and added a little petroleum jelly to ease the new one on. I held my breath when turning on the water~~ but so far all is good! Saved me a visit from a repairman. This is an older Kenmore and as long as it keeps going I am happy!!

My son and I followed your video step by step and encountered the same problem you did with getting the old drain pump off the spindle. The plastic was fused onto the metal with rust and friction. We had to tear and cut the old plastic pump apart and cut and scrape the plastic off the spindle. Took an hour. Then sanded off the spindle with metal sandpaper. Everything else was pretty straightforward.
Now the machine is fixed and works beautifully with no leak. We're so grateful to you for posting this video.

Hey, so I do have a question. The bottom front is a bit higher than the back so the unit is tilted slightly back. I never noticed it before but its possible it was always like this. I took it apart again and tried to hook the lip underneath the frame in front, but it just wont go together unless I rest it on top of the frame. Does this make any sense?

This video helped tremendously. I am a 40+ female who is mechanically inclined and prefers to be self-reliant (appliance issues tend to happen at the least convenient moment, right?). I was able to disassemble my washing machine, clean it inside and out and complete the needed repairs easily after watching this video. I really appreciate your thorough instruction. Thank you for providing such useful content!
Note to other gals out there: I am 5' 4" and my washer is in a tight space so very little room in which to work. All it takes is common sense, a couple of basic tools and patience to make this repair so if you're wondering if you can do this, you can! :)

You're making a little tough on yourself. The two plastic pieces you take off first are the hinges for the top. You just need to pop off the end caps, remove the two screws underneath, and the control panel will flip back without hanging it by the wires. There's no need to pull the machine away from the wall.

Thank you friend for the excellent video. Just had a major leak with my Kenmore washer. I'm not as fortunate to have a drain in my upstairs area where my washer/dryer combo is located.
These water leaks always ruin my upstairs ceiling whether it be a leaky washer, faulty toilet inlet hose, or a breach in the shower line behind the walls, there is always water damage even
possible mold if not corrected. A ball shut-off valve at the side of the house at the main water entrance is always good to have and to use whenever leaving the house for even a day. Thanks
    again friend.

I guess this would be the same way to take a part of the 90 series. Mine just started leaking. Very good step by step. Now I got to order a washer pump.

Thumbs up for showing how the plastic pivot latches went in. Those were a head scratcher for a while. (tabs go behind the control panel frame so they don't get bent)

thanx for heads up, just knowing how to disassemble and diagnose a small leak has saved me at least a hundred bux (more than likely old lady would just run out and buy another new machine with no parts avail, lol).

Nice job, very helpful. One note, when you put the screws/clips back in (last step of assembly, at about 12:30) on the back of the washer, you didn't tuck the metal 'ears' on the inside of the plastic, there's a place to do that, they were outside, so the metal just past the screws bent out when you tightened them. But the video was very helpful, thanks.

Thanks for putting together this video. Most appliances are pretty easy to work on if you know what you're doing (ie where the fasteners are, what clips to undo). I interned at GE's washing machine plant doing quality assurance and tore apart a few hundred of those machines, unfortunately they are totally different than these Kenmore machines. anyhow, this video saved me a bunch of time and money.

Very good video. I would just like to suggest that a zip tie be placed around the discharge hose to the hot and cold water hoses. This prevents the discharge hose from backing out during the pumping out of the water during cycles. My motto, if it can happen it will.

On the Series 80 washer, can you lift the top up and off instead of pulling the whole case forward and off?

  • @martinrivera6828
    @martinrivera6828 Před 5 lety +1

I don't take the washer apart, I just pull the washer three foot to the front and lie it to the back , put a towel and small bucket , and remove the old pump with a small chanel locks and put the new one, 15 minutes fix. I work in an apts complex, you make a lit bit complicated.
